Pulled pork is average. Sauce is pretty good, a little too salty though. The«baked» beans taste like they are straight out of a can with a few pieces of pulled pork thrown in. The fries I was served had been cooked a while ago, they were barely warm.

Don’t judge from the outside. This place has great food. A real find. Try the dry rub ribs… I had them in mild and they were great.

I like this place! Very friendly and comfortable, like a Southern barbecue place should be. The barbecue is very good, as are their beans. The service is FAST and friendly. As I was eating, the owner brought around some of their barbecue bologna for everybody to sample. Very good! One thing I appreciated is the fact this is a Christian business, with a prayer jar for people to place their prayer requests. At the same time, they don’t push it down your throat. It’s very comforting! I came at lunch. Business was steady, but not too crowded. Mostly working class people who seemed to be regulars. Try this place and give these nice people your business.

These people love Jesus, NASCAR, and barbecue, and is a model of Southern Hospitality. If you only like BBQ, they’ll still like you too. This restaurant doesn’t look like much from the outside, but don’t let that scare you off. If you’re a city slicker like me, and want to eat«where the locals do», this is that place. Be kind and respectful; many a local working man and woman eat here and I have no doubt they’re help you leave the premises of this place if you ruin this local delight. I find the cole slaw here is great and a bit sassy(yes it comes with its own attitude), and the baked beans come with a needed soft touch of heat. The food comes out quick, but fantastic.

I’ve eaten 4 times now(3 in one week) so I feel confident about recommending this place. First, lets get this out of the way: Best BBQ in Millington area hands down. I hesitated a lot to try this place as it was in the same location as the old Barb A Rosa’s BBQ and that place was mediocre at best. However, now that I have had it I can say it is nothing at all like the former tenants. On my first visit I had the BBQ nachos and they are a little different here than places like Central, Corkys, etc. Here the nachos focus on the meat and not the cheese and chips. Very good. Next visit I tried the 2 meat(Dry Ribs and Pulled Pork) combo plate with fries and beans. I am not a rib eater and the only place I would eat ribs was at Rendezvous(dry) but I decided to try them here. Holy Bat-Zoinks!!! These ribs are awesome. For me personally, better than Rendezvous. St. Louis style ribs which are meaty and delicious. Now there are 2 places I will eat ribs. Pulled pork was excellent as well. The dry rub and seasoning they use is great. Great flavor and great smoke. I have been to all the Memphis BBQ joints: Central, Interstate, Rendezvous, Corkys, Toms, Tops, Brads, Memphis BBQ Co, Gridleys etc. etc etc. and at most of them I always add BBQ sauce and pepper to my beans because they are a bit bland. At Smokin Ds the beans are awesome just how they come. They have a little kick to them and great flavor. Now I cannot stop ordering the 2 meat combo(dry ribs and pulled pork) and had this on my last 2 visits. Do yourself a favor and go try this place because it awesome. Not only the best in Millington but in the top 3 in Memphis/Mid-South area.(Not kidding)

I will say that this BBQ place is a lot better hands down then Tops for sure. Now I ordered the nachos and a chicken sandwich which I think I can handle eating my food. The food came out pretty quickly. While I was eating one of the workers said to me «Are you going to be able to eat all of that. Well if I can’t then take it to go. Don’t pester me because I’m hungry and want to eat a good meal. I might go back and try the ribs. 4⁄5 for food… the service 3⁄5. I hope this place gets better for the sake of not a lot of quality food in my area.

Heard so many good thing about this place, I decided that I wanted to stop by for a go! We were out picking up truck parts for my son’s truck, seems like we are always working on someone’s car, but that is another story! Anyway, my wife and I headed too Millington to get the needed parts around lunch time. What better time to drop in and give Smokin D’s a try. My wife ordered the BBQ nachos and I got the BBQ jumbo plate with onion rings and tater salad. The food came out quickly, but the aroma while waiting had my watering by the time the food arrived! My wife loved her nachos with the mild sauce, and their hot sauce was actually a little hot and tasted good on my sandwich! There was plenty of meat and slaw, they asked if I wanted it on there, on the sandwich! The onion rings were awesome! The only thing that I would say is that I did not like the tater salad, as it had mustard in it. But it was not that bad, just a matter of taste! We enjoyed our visit and it was extremely clean, a health score of 98.

I’m a barbecue fan. Well, addict might be more accurate. So I was very happy to see this just down the street from my hotel. I was even more happy after I tried it. I had the pulled pork combo, which consisted of a pile of pulled pork, bun on the side, and a couple of sides – I got slaw and fries. The pork was excellent, cooked meltingly tender, and the sauce was very good. The sides were also good, though the slaw was a bit juicier than I usually like it. That’s just a personal preference, though. Overall, I will definitely go back if I get the chance.

Amazing food! Sales go to help feed the homeless. This is hands down the coolest BBQ shop in town.

Meaty ribs. Sauce was very sweet. Slaw unfavorable, sauce watery. Beans sweet as you might guess and cold.

Was in the Memphis area(staying in Millington) for a visit to friends. Had heard about this place from another friend saying it was rated, like 4.5 stars. I don’t think you will be disappointed. After eating there, I asked hotel front desk people which bbq place was better in area and both of them rated this one over the other restaurant, that was advertising itself as No.1…LOL Coming here is a little step back in time. Linoleum floors; lots of bbq related knicknacks along shelfs. Checkered plastic table clothes… repaired with duct tape. =) Single unisex bathroom. Gospel music playing in background. Very, very friendly staff. Saw police eating here. So that kind of gives you a pic of the atmosphere, right? Do NOT think gourmet environment by any means. But as to barbecue, ok… it DEFINITELY hits the spot! You have a choice of dry or wet. And I like sauce, so I chose wet. Next time I will try dry and maybe add sauce. Just to see something different. But they do it RIGHT. They put it back on the grill and sauce it for you. It’s good barbecue… not quick barbecue where they just pull it out of a sterno tub. And it was hot, messy and juicy when served. Ummmm good. Ribs tender. Meat came off bone easily but not like it had been boiled. Just cooked/smoked right. BBQ chicken was done well. Tender, juicy and skin was crisp and crackly like I enjoy. I’m interested in trying some other choices they have, like their pulled pork, etc. Next visit. Sides were the usual mix of barbecue sides. I ordered beans and onion rings after he told me that the cole slaw was just plain mayonnaise based. But they forgot and brought me the slaw anyway. It was good. Plentiful. A little under seasoned but with just a little pepper and salt, it was fine. The beans started as regular canned or Campbell’s pork and beans, I think, but they doctor them up. They add a little shredded pulled pork and seasonings and I thought they were pretty damned good improvement. Good family place. They have a value/dollar menu with items for the kids and well priced items. BBQ with the price of meat is NOT necessarily a cheap food choice. But with their value menu I think any family could afford to eat here. I think that’s the right touch!

Really surprised by how good this place was! I’ve eaten a LOT of BBQ all across Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, and other places and this was top 5 ribs easily. Chicken was very good too. Slaw was pretty good and tasted fresh. Onion rings and peach cobbler were average. Overall great BBQ surprise in tiny millington, tn.

So happy to find a good BBQ near my hotel in Millington! It’s really hard to find good restaurants and bars around here because there are not so many useful reviews. It seems like this BBQ restaurant’s owner won at a BBQ championship. Some of their car collections are near the cashier. And delicious smell is everywhere. Even outside too. I ordered A combo. Rib(Dry), massive chicken(Dry), onion ring, coleslaw, bread, unsweetened tea. $ 13.95($ 12.5610%off aft Unilocal check in) peach cobbler free(aft Facebook check in) BBQ is so juicy and tender. The Memphis style dry rub is ahhhhhhh good! Chicken is wow massive. The smoked skin is fabulous. Coleslaw has a great kick of loads black pepper. Less mayonnaise. Onion ring and peach cobbler are not my cup of tea. I’ll order beans and brownie instead of them next time. This restaurant is really casual. Some customers wore like pjs. Table cloth has some scotch tapes. It smells super good. So you must make sure not to take a shower for a while to enjoy extra. Oh, they have really good deals sets. The cheapest one is only $ 2.99. It comes with 1 entrée(BBQ slider, chicken bites, hot dog), 1 side(chips,…), 1 drink(soda,…). With a bigger entrée, $ 5. Don’t forget to check in at Unilocal and Facebook to get awesome deals!

Update: I returned for lunch today(2÷2÷15) and was again very impressed. Just got ribs today and they were just as good as last time. The beans were more to my liking this time — which confirms to me they make their own batches.
