Beautiful Maine Woods resort. Riverdrivers offers fine food, wine, and atmosphere. Super friendly staff let you feel right at home. A «to-do» item for 4 season adventures.

I’ve stayed here twice, and it’s been great both times — as long as you’re expecting a mellow, rustic cabin. Yes, there are mice around; get your food into a fridge(easiest), hang it, or get it into a very solid container(most cheap disposable gladware won’t cut it). Last visit I got woken up by a mouse getting into some cookies I hadn’t protected well enough. There’s wi-fi, but very few of our group had any cell signal; plan ahead to use email, Google Hangouts. or WhatsApp instead of calling or texting. Or, do it old-school and just agree on a place and time to meet people ahead of time… The bathroom’s a bit thrown-together; the toilets are jammed in next to the water-treatment appliances. The couches are the loudest vinyl-covered blocks of foam I’ve ever sat on, but are in otherwise reasonable shape. Basically, the older cabins feel like they’ve been around for ages, but they work fine for what they do. The free-for-guests canoes and kayaks are handy, but are clearly damaged retirees from the NEOC fleet headquartered at the same location; of the 5 kayaks I dealt with on my last visit, 4 had either a damaged rudder or broken foot pegs. Similarly, there are ~10 sit-on-top tandem kayaks — but only 1 of the 20 expected fabric seats. I asked at the head office; they said the seats«tend to wander off.» So, good for me — but maybe not good for everyone.

Beautiful place to spend the vacation coupled with Whitewater rafting and scenic views of Kathadin Peak through the lake. Kayak is included and plenty of things included like basketball, volleyball etc. Bön Fire and BBQ(Gas Grill) in common area. Woods are available for fire. We stayed in Raven which is in the corner and a little walk from the common area. If you can get a cabin on lake side then its awesome. Wifi is ok. Restaurant is a little expensive for the food. In all a beautiful place to stay for a weekend or even for a week.

The oxymoronic Trout Mountain exists, and it’s magical! We stayed two nights at this, a premium cabin aground the Twin Pine campground, for an Independence Day wedding. Granted, I can’t speak to the plethora of available fun things, like volleyball, horseshoes, a rec center with ping pong, board games and screen doors, and all the kayaking Millinocket Lake has to offer, basically because a hurricane was blowing it all away. Check-in for the temporarily residential side of the New England Outdoor Center is sparkling, as its recently renovated to feature what we’d discover to be a damn fine in-house restaurant. Staff are an orchard of peaches for fruit-based metaphor, or a patch of blueberries if its more regionally appropriate, and while everything seems to be pencil and paper, they were organized. Back to Trout Mountain! With a full kitchen, proximity to all facilities and more beds than the Bunny Ranch, it’s essentially a palace at the end of the AT. As such, it’s only fitting it sleeps 14(or 24 college kids, because stop playin’). The only rub — even when you roll deep, you’re still looking at anywhere from $ 70 – 100 per glamper per night, and three of the beds are in a shared loft. Singles pad, anyone? The wifi is extremely spotty — tough luck keeping a signal to check email, let alone stream reruns of Big Brother on Hulu. Dog friendly, too, so bring ya pup, bring ya wife. Leave your iPhone. Breathe fresh air.

So I got the awesome opportunity to go whitewater rafting here for the weekend in May of 2012 with a few other URI leadership minor students. We stayed two nights here. When I heard that we were going to be staying in a «log cabin» I automatically thought to myself: «Oh dear, I’m going to be roughin’ it in Maine.» Which pleasantly was not the case. We stayed in their«Trout Mountain» Premium Cabin with a high-ceiling loft overlooking the stone fireplace kitchen and living area. The open cabin had electricity, wi-fi(should you choose to pay for it) and heat! There were numerous spacious rooms with queen and twin beds, clean cream-colored walls, yellow lighting and warm woods. Very impressive. If you want to experience Maine’s serene nature comfortably, this is the place. There is nothing more relaxing than waking up in your robe to a scenic view of Mt. Katahdin with a cup of coffee in hand.

We stayed here for a weekend while white water rafting. I have to say that I was so disappointed. Before I go on I will say the positives; staff, location and view were outstanding. Very friendly and helpful. Office and restaurant very clean and up to date,(although we did not eat here). Grounds were well maintained and clean. Negatives; We stayed in Big Mud cabin with another couple and while the view was outstanding the cabin definitely had something to be desired, way overdue for remodeling! The beds and sleeping areas we’re ok, clean sheets and blankets. The kitchen was… what can i say… the counter had mouse droppings on it and I even spotted one watching me from the bathroom as I tried to cook. This might be ok to some, you may even be laughing at me saying«what did she expect, she in a cabin in the Maine woods» but I HATE mice!!! I would have requested another cabin but they were all booked up and we arrived to late to find another place. The bathroom was flat out disgusting. I have posted pictures so you can see for yourself. The floors were filthy, the backdoor opened to the front of the toilet(talk about being caught with your pants down, as this did happen to my husband) and the rusted hot water tank, well pump and heater were all exposed covered with dust, dirt and cob webs. I don’t have a problem with them being exposed but I DO if you can’t keep them clean! The bathtub also had poor drainage and you had to stand in two inches of water while showering. There are some larger more modern cabins that you can rent, I didn’t have the opportunity to view these but they definitely looked better than ours. If your in the market for a small cabin that sleeps 4 to 6, keep looking! P.S Little mud has the same layout and looked the same from the outside so I wouldn’t put my hopes in that cabin either!

I was really impressed with our accommodations at Twin Pine. We stayed in a Coveside Guesthouse which houses eight. The entire cabin looked brand new, like it had been built within the year. It was very spacious with high ceilings in the living room. The entire house was spotless, the beds were comfortable and the appliances were new. Lots of windows in the living room provided a great view of Millinocket Lake. Also there was a large gas grill on the patio and a hot tub near by. The only downside was that they didn’t have ESPN in their TV package so we weren’t able to watch game seven of the Celtics– Heat game. Still for only $ 70/per person per night this place was a great deal and is a perfect place to stay during your outdoor adventure.
