This place is always crowded and has the longest lines. Doesn’t take long to know why. Highly recommend the pesto rolls, éclair(jus thinking of it gives me a high!), cakes, Danish and the vegetarian feast sandwich. A tad pricey and just about alright on service and ambience, but the food won’t leave you complaining.

Like it cost 8 bucks for a fucking salad. Got me hellah fucked up. But their starwberry pastry is bomb.

Ordering was actually a pretty stressful experience, but maybe just for a first-timer like me. This location requires a line at the door queuing around its gorgeous pastry case. Because of this system, you see maybe 20% of their offerings before it’s your turn to order. That’s what stressed me out. I like to make informed decisions, ya know? FOMO. What could I be missing out on?! I’ll tell you what — that second pastry case to the left of the cashier! I quickly popped down to check it out and then jump back in line to find I’d been skipped. That’s my fault because I’d walked off, but their system most assuredly causes all of those items — Crème Brulee, cake slices, tarts — in case #2 to be incredibly slow sellers. A good shift in register placement would do the store well. I ordered a Blueberry Muffin. It’s getting a(3⁄5) — Great presentation with the artisan muffin cup. Sweet taste and nice crumble, a very cake-y texture. BUT. ½ of my muffin had zero blueberries in it. You never know how those pesky blue guys will disperse in the batter, but that was little bit of a bummer. Once seated to enjoy my semi-blueberry muffin, I noticed that there was a second ordering counter for soup/sandwich/lunchy things. I am training in a nearby store for the week, and will be sure to come back for a soup/sandwich deal. I’m sure I’ll be a pro at ordering by the week’s end. ;)

FOOD — Strawberry Pastry: Crisp layered danish with vanilla custard and fresh strawberries. 4⁄5 — Raspberry Cream Cheese: Soft danish pastry topped with raspberry and sweet cream cheese, topped with confection sugar. 4⁄5 — Cream Cheese Walnut: Honey walnut brioche with sweet cream cheese. 4⁄5 SERVICE Fair. 3⁄5 FINALTHOUGHTS I love Andersen’s. I almost always give into baked goods cravings when I’m the Great Mall. I like everything I’ve had here.

I bought sunrise roll and a scone. Both of them were super dry. They were probably at least 1 – 2 days old. Disappointed…

A vegetarian’s review! :) Great Mall is the closest mall to where I live and my husband and I visit here frequently. If you enter through the Sports Authority entrance you can let your nose guide you to Andersens Bakery. Since our noses do that every single time we visit, I have tasted quite a few items. 1. Jalapeño Cheese: Get this one cut and warmed and this is one of our favourites. The cheese balances out the fiery heat from the jalapenos and with a hot coffee this makes a great snack. 2. Apple muffins: These are yummy. The moist apple inside and the crumbly topping… mmmm. :) 3. International Cheese: For that cheese craving. 4. Apple pie slice: No. Don’t take this. The muffins are way better. 5. Creamy Cheese: I tried this after all the reviews on Unilocal that said that it is a must-try. It is good. If you are Indian and have ever eaten a cream bun from a local Indian bakery, it is kind of built like that. Also it tastes something like bread, ghee and sugar. :) If you’re really dying of hunger, as I was, try the sandwiches. 6. The roasted tomato, caprese and avocado sandwich is mouthwateringly delicious. 7. The eggplant and mozzarella sandwich is perfect if you’re craving a hot sandwich. In any case, cold eggplant is a little… ew. :D

I came here to grab some carbs to smack on, and though I enjoyed the bread here, but I wasn’t super impressed. I ordered: –1 loaf of cinnamon bread//cheap, can feed a family for sure. But wayyyyy too dry! And didn’t have a cinnamon flavor either. I felt like I was just eating dry white bread. –1 strip of sugar bread//not sure if that is the correct name, but yum! It was soft and not too overly sweet. Definitely coming back for more! –1 strip of cream cheese with walnut bread//YUM! Addicting! Not too oily, and you can ask them to precut it for you! Had pieces of walnut too! –1 strip of cream cheese(?) Danish bread//again, not the proper name. But either way, yummy! Definitely not oily and had a good amount of cheese with each bite. A bit pricey though! Pros: –great service! Cashier was super nice, and told us not to worry about bags since she always rebags items. –good selection! Wow! If you walk further in, there is a glass window full of desserts, a soup/salad/deli bar. Cons: –kind of pricey. But I guess I should expect that from a place in the mall. –understaffed. Only two people working the line for bread, when there is a huge line behind us. Help the poor girls out! –yummy bread, but could be better. It’s a place to grab bread if you are really craving it, but no reason to come specifically here unless I was in the mall. Overall, good experience! Worth a try if you have a moment or two.

Heaven smelling bakery with a lot of bread varieties. My friends and I tried a few breads and muffins and absolutely loved the taste. The garlic cheese bread had a strong flavor of cheese which was a little too pungent for my taste but the cheese danish and the blueberry muffin were a treat to our taste buds. soft and fresh. We also tried the tomato ravioli soup which was delicious. the soup had a nice garlic flavor to it. Thumbs up!

IMPRESSION: This is my new favorite go to place at the Great Mall. There was a bakery in Vallco mall my mom used to get me this exact strawberry pastry. Then when I worked as a young adult at Express in Vallco I would speed walk to get this pastry on my break. Now I see they sell this pastry here at the Great Mall too! My favorite strawberry pastry for only $ 2.45! That price seems very reasonable to me. STAFF: efficient, once they’re done with a customer they ask who’s next. They use appropriate sanitary precautions and provided me with two napkins and not just one. Thank goodness because I ended up using both napkins. INSIDE: I love the feel to this bakery with the wood tables and walls. Open tables and plenty of chairs to go around. Saw a family sitting and single customers like myself sitting by themselves enjoying a pastry or sandwich keeping busy on their phones. Clean tables and a staff member was going around straightening chairs. FOOD: my pastry was just right. I was tempted to buy another one! Their cakes on display looked so pretty and yummy I had to take a look. They sell slices too, but I withheld temptation. I’ll be back for more I’m sure.

Deceived. I heard so many good things about this place and I was horrified after tasting the dirty sock tasting coffee I tried. I really want to ask for my money back if it wasn’t for the long line of people waiting to buy bread and pastries. I ordered a Danish with strawberries and was tasteless even though they look pretty awesome from the outside. The store smells really bad, not what you expect from a bakery with breads coming fresh from the oven. I grew up across from a real bakery and can distinguish the great, real, natural aromas of delicious bread. I did not try the bread, but this first impression was not very good for me.

Crème brûlée!!! That is the #1 item I always get here. Everything else tastes good too but the crème brûlée is what everyone should try!

I could smell this bakery from a mile away ~ of course, I had to make a stop. Such a warm and inviting atmosphere, long lines, but quick due to friendly and efficient service. Too many freshly baked goods to choose from! You can even buy half loaves to whole ones, unsliced or cut to your preference. A few good selection of sizable sweet cookies behind the display glass, although they primarily sell a variety of bread and pastries. There’s another shelf farther back, just a heads up if you don’t want to fall in line and check out right away in the front. I almost missed it since I was in a hurry to get my items. Speaking of, I got their Apple Caramel Muffin($ 1.95), Danish Pastry($ 2.45), and Cream Cheese Walnut($ 2.60). I wish I can take more home, but another visit can easily be warranted.

2 words: CREAMYFRENCH or JALAPEÑOBREAD. I love Anderson’s Bakery! It’s a great place to buy bread with any topping or filling in it basically. Sometimes there are long lines but it goes by generally fast. It could also get crowded too if you decide to have a seat. If you haven’t tried their most famous«creamy French», you’re missing out in life. I usually get about 4 of those — sliced, for myself of course. That filling is so addicting. It’s safe to say you could tell yourself to stop eating so much carbs, but because of Anderson’s, it’s seriously the only exception. I’ve also tried the jalapeño bread, which is my second favorite. Yum. The perfect amount of buttery jalapeño-y goodness. The cream cheese and walnut is another favorite of mine! Who doesn’t love anything with cream cheese though??? Lastly, they were playing EDM! I was literally singing and snapchatting the whole time I was there. They deserve more than 5 stars just for that!

I’ve been deceived by something considered a «caramel» croissant. When I heard caramel Croissant I immediately pictured a buttery, flakey croissant with ribbons of caramel throughout. They should renamed this as a caramelized sugar croissant. Actually, it wasn’t even remotely close to the shape of one. Croissants should be flakey and light. The interior should be tender and buttery. This fauxssant was neither of these things. There were far too many large pockets of air inside and it was too, too dry. Unpalatable. It was an unfortunate purchase, one I wish I could get a refund on.

Who doesn’t like a Creamy French… I found their bread to be stale vs. the other Anderson’s I visit, but all the same it went…

Just thinking about the jalapeño bread makes me hungry… and when it’s warmed up and cut for you? Sigh. There can be nothing better. Oh, wait, there’s the creamy French, too! Double sigh. Yes, the lines can get super crazy long here – especially on the weekends – but I think it’s worth it. Take in all the yummy smells while you’re in line, look at all the colorful options in front of you, and rejoice that they take both cash and credit! Two thumbs up for my two fave breads at my new fave bakery!
