Went there for buffet and it was okish. I believe some of the food was couple of days old. They had live dosa, which was ok but the sambhar was really dark so wasn’t sure if they added a lot of tamarind by mistake or if it was stale. Their buffet was usual with couple of veg and non-veg curries, couple of appetizers, and desserts + tea. They served fresh naan regularly. Ambience is good and it was easy to find parking. Overall an ok place to eat if you are in the area.

The quality has gone down the drain. I noticed this over the last 6 months or so. They have opened a new branch in San Mateo and looks like chef Pradeep Kumar is focused with that crowd instead. The ingredients they are now putting into the food is of poor quality, there is a lot of oil in the food, the taste is not quite there as before, and worst of all the food bothers the stomach(yeah, I know, TMI :)). I gave them multiple chances before writing them off. I’m done with Vedas for good. It’s sad, as it used to be my favorite restaurant in all of Bay area and have been a regular customer here for years.

I’m certainly no expert when it comes to Indian food, but I think I have a good palate when it comes to tasting good food and Vedas serves some dang good stuff! My coworker made a reservation here for lunch for seven of us and we were the first ones there at the restaurant. However, tables started to fill up fast as soon as the lunch hour hit. While the place may not look so great on the outside, the interior design is wonderful. First, you are greeted with a warm aroma of fresh spices and herbs. Then, your eyes will catch the beautiful tapestries, golden lights, and neatly organized tables throughout. For lunch, Vedas offers a lunch buffet that serves A LOT of different types of food. Going back to how I’m not an Indian food expert, I can’t tell you any of the names of the dishes I ate. I can, however, describe them! There was one dish that had bell peppers and eggplant tempura(nothing like the Japanese version) that was crisp and wonderfully spicy. LOVETHAT. There was also some pepper chicken and goat(again, super spicy!), lemon rice, and a vegetable stew-like broth that went great with the naan that was served at each table(they even give free refills of that!). For dessert, my personal favorite had to be the cream of wheat that had pieces of lychee inside. Sweet yet smooth and creamy, I had to stop myself from going back for seconds because that was just going to push me into a food coma for sure and I had to get back to work! The one thing I love about Indian food is the heavy use of spices and you can definitely taste that here. Everything tasted as if it was made fresh and the buffet area was extremely neat and tidy. I personally liked how they put a little name card by each dish so you get some idea of what you are eating. Price-wise, you couldn’t possibly get it any cheaper at $ 12 per person. What a steal! So far I have only been here with my coworkers, but after this great visit, I have to take my hubby here too. I’m sure he’ll love it!

We just organized a party at Vedas. Owner Pradeep and his team were very meticulous and detailed in discussing the Menu and also on the day of the Party were constantly attending is to make sure every thing was going smoothly. The food and the service was excellent. We look forward to hosting some more in the future.

Not sure, how this place has got such amazing reviews. This place is strictly okay. Prices are high, food average. With so many indian restaurants(with way better food) not sure how this is surviving. Been there a couple of times with team for lunch. Buffet is okay which is comparable to an average indian restaurant. Nothing special. The guy taking order on the phone was out right rude. Ordered peas pulao to-go, and i get rice with peas on top. R u kidding me! Do u guys even know what pulao means? Any way, you decide looking at the pic. Not going here again.

My husband and I have been to Vedas many times over the past 3 – 4 years and have always enjoyed the food, ambiance, and service. We were VERY surprised and disappointed when we went there for dinner 2 nights ago. My husband is Indian and I lived in India many years learning Indian cooking from all parts of India — so we know how good Indian food should taste. The bangan bhartha(eggplant curry) was terrible, no taste, too much salt and too sour. They took it back and brought a new dish that was equally bad. The chicken tikka masala was terrible – so tough I couldn’t eat it with no flavor at all and was not fresh. The sauce had no taste at all. I also had rhumalli roti which should be very soft and pliant. It was too thin and crispy, flaking and crumbling apart. We were told there is a new chef from the last 4 months who follows the recipes from the original chef. This chef is terrible and has no idea of how Indian food should taste. The waiter was overly friendly making a personal comment(a compliment) that was totally out of place. It made me feel very uncomfortable. We were there at dinner time 7:00 — 8:30 and there were only 2 other tables being served during the 1.5 hours we were there. This should be a sign that something is VERY wrong. We paid a lot of money for this dinner and got no value at all for our money. It was one of the worst meals we’ve had. It will be a long time before we go back. It’s a shame since it was a local restaurant that was had very decent food.

Full of creepy employees. They don’t even see their face and start flirting. I don’t know why can’t we give negative stars here. Food they provide is very old cooked and stinky glasses. I consider it my mistake that I went to this disgusting place.

One of the better restaurants for North Indian cuisine. No nonsense, good food. Worth repeating.

I think this is one of the finest Indian place in Milpitas, good food, pleasant ambiance and various options for Vegetarians. I have tried their Buffest as well and you get many options for the price.

This is the worst place we ever had. We went to celebrate my frieds anniversary. The kids was excited and got in the resturent. This guy on the door started shouting on my 3 a d 7 year old kids and threatening them to call the cops. I can not believe how one can do this. Either this guy was the manager who got fired today or if he was owner only God can save his business. I would advise you to stay away if you do not want to ruin your special evening.

Chef Kumar is a king of flavor and versatiltiy! He made a special Rajasthani menu for my dad’s birthday. It was just wonderful. Everyone loved the food and he is our main man for catering and special events. Another time I was on a special diet which was gluten free, fat free, salt free, sugar free, vegan vegetarian. Chef Kumar made a 4 course meal for our guests and it was beyond creative and delicious! He is very talented and our fav chef in the Bay Area. His Basil Chicken is a must at every party of ours. He is also very generous with non profit events and gives me good advise on healthy food for kids. His talent is not something you will find around here. Good wishes to Vedas and to Chef Kumar!

We have done decorations at Vedas restaurant. The ambiance in the restaurant is elegant and have a soft light touch. Works perfectly for a décor. Their food is awesome as well. Would really recommend it.

Very good lunch buffet… overall 3.5 stars * buffet = 3.5 stars * service = 3.5 stars * décor, ambiance, etc. = 3 stars Great food quality, taste, and variety but they did not replenish the chafing dishes often enough so that some were empty. Not as spicy as some places. The chicken vindaloo was delicious but tame. When we ordered mango lassi for the table, they could only provide us 2 glasses… strange. The masala chai was a bit too strong in cinnamon. The nan was served hot and fresh at the table… the way it should be. Definitely a place to come back to.

Lunch buffet was good. The selection was good and food quality. Service was also good. There were several very large parties(10 to 30 people). They seem quite able to handle large parties.

I have been to Vedas a couple times before. The food was well cooked and tasty. Even carrot halwa was better than I have had in most places around. Service was fair and restaurant is clean. Now for the stars in the review. I drove there on weekend with few friends. I was told by a staff that they were closed. It was a private party that had all the space. Hmm how does a customer know about it? The manager had no answer. I had to change plans for all of us. Neither have I seen any other buffet place book all the space and kick out customers. I hope Vedas improves the situation here. This takes 2 stars from the review.

My husband and I decided to go on impromptu dinner date. It was my turn to choose the restaurant so I chose Vedas in Milpitas, California. This place was an old pizza joint year in Milpita’s that was renovated and opened as a Indian food restaurant. I’ve been to all sorts of Indian food restaurants. From hole in the walls to really elegant upscale restaurants. I would say that Vedas is a little higher than medium par. You walk in and you see this front area where they mainly use for the buffet but we were seated in the back where it’s more catered to find dining. We ordered off the menu got our usual butter chicken, naan, and daal. We also chose the vegetable bariyani and asked for it mild. I guess my version of mild isn’t there a version of wild because it was still very spicy for me. That being said, the flavors of the dishes, the preparation techniques, the spices that were integrated into our chicken and other dishes just worked so well together! The customer service was very attentive! And if you’ve read my previous Unilocal,I’m huge on customer service. Extra napkins were given to me when not asked for because the waiter saw how messy I was getting, water glass upon the glass was poured dude my low tolerance for the mild heat. All in all, because him or service was above par. If you are looking for an Indian restaurant that’s a bit more upscale and they have a back room for fine dining, go visit Vedas in Milpitas California. They are authentic Indian food will not leave you wanting for more.

This is a 4.5 star(couldn’t find half star downgrade). The food is 5 star, probably the best buffet in the valley. If you want to have a decent quality indian buffet, probably the best in Silicon valley, please go to this place. These guys are closed on Mondays. I like the saturday brunch/lunch, be sharp at noon and you will enjoy a great meal with your family. You can take your team, boss or anybody who wants to have a good indian food during lunch with you to this place. The ambiance is great as well. Parking can be a challenge during rush hours as all the stores have marked their place around the restaurant and do not allow you to park. The half a point downgrade is because of the arrogance of the owner/manager who you can see mostly in the restaurant. If you can avoid having conversation with her, especially during rush hours you will have a great time. She really thinks she is the boss and that she is doing customers a favor by seating them. She needs to take some classes in SJSU to learn basic courtesy and how to talk to a customer.

2nd time here, and both times I had a good experience. Service and the meals were good/great. I had the Chef’s Seasonal Salad(very good) which was made with fresh ingredient, and the price was right. Main Course was the Awadhi Goat Curry, Rice, and Naan. All very yummy too. Only disappointment for me was the Indian Beer I orders. Kingfisher is like Miller Genuine Draft.

Ambiance: Very big. Can accommodate large groups Service: Very slow. We spent almost 2 hours here. Food: Decent. Not great. We ordered Chilli Paneer. It was very bland and did not serve chutney. For main course, we tried pindi chole and Paneer Makhani. Both were good. Price: Reasonable for what is being offered. its decent restaurant to try out, If you are in vicinity, But look elsewhere for delicious Indian food.
