Giving it 4 stars when in fact it should be 5. As this place is great and awesome, I just wish it went on for miles. The shop they have is really nice and cute, and the prices are reasonable for so many hand made items. I like how everyone is so easy going here and you pretty much can run around and no one will bother you.

Peak bloom will be about a week or two from now, but I figured it was better to get there early than miss it altogether. I went a few years ago without checking in advance, and I got there right after the harvest, so there wasn’t much lavender to see, although the rest of the grounds are still lovely even when the lavender’s not at its prime. There’s a little shop that sells lavender everything, from insect repellent to soaps to lotions to jellies to wreaths to neck warmers to sachets to pecans to… well, you get the idea. I have allergies, and the shop gives me a headache after a few minutes inside, but even if that’s you too, it’s worth seeing. They also sell lavender plants for your garden, all in ½ gal pots for $ 8 each, but they’re currently running a special that gets you one for free when you buy three others. That’s a pretty good price for that size, and my mother did the buy three, get one free deal. There’s another little shop on the grounds that sells bird feeders and stuff, but it didn’t appear to be open today. I’d been inside it on a previous visit and didn’t find it that interesting, but if you’re into that kind of stuff, maybe that’s different. The real attraction is the lavender fields themselves. They grow mostly English lavender, although they do also have a section of French lavender. Strictly speaking, they’re more like really large garden beds than«fields» but the effect is impressive. They’re currently budded, and beautiful. I want to try to visit again at their peak, but like I said, better early than late. They do harvest twice per year, and the lavender from their fields is where all the items in their shop come from. There are also other extensive gardens, lots of seating areas to linger and relax in, and a large labyrinth. It’s so beautiful.
