I visited Milton State Park with my biology class last week and was overwhelmed with the amount of fun we had. Studying the plant species in the natural forest area and along the banks of the Susquehanna River proved Milton State Park is a total gem right in our back yard! This park had many large tree species including Catalpa speciosa(Northern Catalpa) with EXTREMELY large leaves that were very very cool and fun to play with. Only downfall to MSP was the abundance of Polygonum cuspidatum(Japanese knotweed) that was totally covering the understory of the forest. Can’t wait to go back and visit again in the spring to see the blooming Cornus florida(flowering dogwood)!!!

Milton State park is an 82 acre island state park in the middle of the susquehanna river. I was so dissappointed by how un-cool this park was. There were lots of kids playing soccor, and people walking and hiking, but it really really didnt have anything to mention. boating facilities… there were tons of apple trees all around, that was about it.
