I stumbled upon Rick’s while trying to figure where to eat when passing through Milton, and I am glad I did. The service was quick, efficient, and the staff was friendly and competent. The burgers are fantastic. Big, juicy, great flame broiled taste and made with care. Fries were tasty and crisp. We also tried the wings and ribs. Both were great and I would rank their wings in the Top 5 in VT. They were cooked perfectly, crispy outside while still being moist inside. Ribs and pulled pork were excellent as well. Portions were generous, pricing was very reasonable and a good value. They make a lot of items by fresh and by hand and rather than frozen stuff. I will definitely be back to try more goodies!

We’ve been to Rick’s Grill a handful of times, but we have not been impressed. The chicken tenders are very tasty, but everything else we’ve tried was just ok and the prices are higher than the quality of the food. But the servers are very nice :)

My history with Rick’s is spotty. Going back when it was Rick’s Pizza and not Rick’s Grill, I was pregnant and they completely botched my order, putting an ingredient on a sandwich that I’d stated I was allergic to. An 11-mile drive home, we discovered how badly they’d messed it up, called them, and were begrudgingly told, «Well, you have to drive back out here or deal with it.» It took a fight to get them to get their delivery guy to at least meet us to the farthest point that they deliver. When Rick’s reopened years later, I was iffy, but my son really wanted to give it a shot and the diner in Milton closed recently so we went. On that visit, I was impressed. Sandwiches were hot and tasty, service was excellent, and the fries were really good. Even better, the beer list is impressive. They have a great selection of local brews. For that visit, I would easily give them a four. We tried them again over the weekend. This time, we reverted to the old experience. We ordered nachos. Nachos, per the menu, are supposed to come with shredded cheese, tomatoes, black olives, sour cream, and salsa. What we got were a pile of tortilla chips that had a bitter taste and were covered in chopped tomatoes, black olives, and a little bit of cheese. No salsa, no sour cream. Sandwiches were better, minus the coleslaw. We love coleslaw, but this is bland and tasted of little more than cabbage and watered/milked down mayo. After finding a brown piece of shredded carrot halfway through, I stopped eating it and wish I hadn’t at all. The service was not good. The waitress came around to take our drink orders, take our orders, and deliver our nachos. She never asked if we wanted drink refills, etc. Until it came time to get the bill, we never saw her again. When she did deliver the bill, she gave us mints for a part of our party, but not enough for everyone in our party. Either they ran out of mints and she couldn’t bring herself to tell us, or we did something that annoyed her, though I can’t think of what since we’d ordered drinks and meals and those were the only things we’d said to her. Either way, I’m not sure it’s worth going back after a visit that I’d rate as a one.

I’d really want to like this place. I truly do want this place to succeed. The reason why I want to like this place is because I use to go here when it was«Dave’s». It brings back memories of when I use to be a teenager with my friends. We would go out to eat with the dollars we collected. Background First step when I walked in Rick’s is wow. This place has a lot of TV’s. It give you that feeling of Buffalo Wild Wings. The parking space is alright, but if every spot was filled that’s pretty tight. Meaning that you might be at risk to getting scratches on the car. I find it hard to believe that these parking lines are for normal cars. It’s more like parking spaces for smart cars. Service The waitress 5 and are very nice to everyone. I really like it I say thank you for being a good person and giving me great service. I really appreciate it. Food This was the worst part. This restaurant is suppose to be a speed restaurant. So everything is pre cooked before you order it. So quality isn’t really on their minds when cooking up food. The onion rings look good from the picture. To tell you the ugly truth. Those onion rings were pretty raw when I got mine. The batter doesn’t stick to the onion. So from experience and for your own good don’t get the onion rings. My father got the fried fish there and it was uncooked and took an hour for them to finish cooking it. I know it’s uncooked by the looks of it and how my father told me he had problems with it at home. I wonder if the cooks are sober when cooking. I ordered chicken alfredo and the cook forgot my damn tomatoes. Yeah I was pissed off I didn’t have tomatoes. If it takes 1hr for them to serve food it better be on spot. Other then that I’ve tried there Philly Cheese Steak and that was alright but to damn small and over priced. I suggest going to subway. It’s better bread, more meat, and cheaper, because you don’t have to pay tip. Overall I give this place a two star, because I like the service and the setting. Those are the only things that keep bring people back to this restaurant. The food is terrible and I mean that because their delivery is to long and I can cook better then that at my house. Will I be back there? Yes if a new owner took over or a new restaurant was there. I suggest looking up what you like and cooking it at home. It’s most likely that you’d cook it faster then they do at Rick’s and taste better. If you want to go out and eat All American food go to Randy’s Lunch Box or North Country Saloon.

Went to Rick’s Grill when they first opened. Greeted by an older angry«manager»? which the staff seemed threatened by. Since then, I think this employee was promoted to the back of the restaurant. Slow service, soup was luke warm. We will not be going back.

I visited ricks grill after hearing a good review of the place from my doctor, also my stomach was being quite demanding. I ordered a BBQ bacon burger. I was happy with it and found it delightfully messy. Fries were good and hot, perfectly salted. I wasn’t impressed that they didn’t have Heinz ketchup, but that’s not a big deal. Service was fast and friendly, I had the same girl one of the previous reviewer complained about. I’d have to say, while she did chat at the bar a lot, she asked me about my food and how it was, I was ready to order and she came over immediately, when I was done eating I looked towards her and she would come over! There was more than just sports on the TVs and it wasn’t really all that loud. Granted it was only 3:30 pm and there was only one other customer there. I have no complaints! It just wasn’t amazingly good, it was better than I expected and I’ll certainly come back and try the pasta and fried pickles!

We used to love this place back when it was Rick’s PIzza — and I’m so glad to see it’s back open. We started with an order of onion rings — the serving was huge, and the rings were tasty! The batter was nicely seasoned and they were cooked to a perfect golden brown. I had the Home Run Burger, which comes with bacon and grilled onions on it. It was delicious! My husband got the BBQ Pork Ribs — a half rack order which looked a lot closer to a whole rack. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and the BBQ sauce was savory and sweet. Both of us had sweet potato fries on the side, which were super-thin and delicious. Overall, the servings were pretty huge, but the bill was not, so your money goes a long way here. it was a great dinner, and I’d go back any day!

My takeout order experience on 12÷12÷12: 1. Phone order was poor. The person taking my order couldn’t hear me as the environment was loud from the music, background noise and other distractions. She repeated my order back to me and it was wrong. Took a few tries to get it right. 2. Gave me a time frame for the order to be ready. I drove over 15 – 20 minutes past the time frame just to give them more time. However, my order was not even started. I waited at the bar for another 30 minutes. You would think that at this point a complimentary drink could have been offered. Nope, not even water. 3. Tried to access the wifi but it was password protected. According to their Facebook page, they mentioned that wifi is available and to ask the bartender for the password. So, I asked and the bartender had no clue and neither did a few other staff members. Nice! 4. Drove home immediately with my order, keep in mind that I live just 2 minutes away. Wife ordered the All American Burger, only to find an overcooked piece of meat with two pieces of plain bun. No lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and cheese. The Quarter Pounder from McDonald’s would have been something to die for compared to this crap they call a burger. Wife threw the burger out and had leftovers from the fridge. Onion rings were cold, soggy, and the breading had come off. So, the takeout package contained soggy breading and onions. My Philly Cheese Steak was dry and wasn’t flavorful. My daughter’s Club sandwich was smothered with mayo. Basically oozing out with mayo. 5. Fries were somewhat okay but overly salted and the grease they were cooked in seemed old. 6. With four separate meal orders, I only received one tiny dish of ketchup included in the takeout bag. And only two sets of plastic utensils/napkins. Good thing I didn’t order the food to take to a picnic or some place other than home. I didn’t think to check as I assumed asking for appropriate amount of condiments and utensils would be something they could easily accomplish. 7. While waiting at the bar, I noticed that the noise level was quite high from the piped music and staff banter at the prep area. For a bar or pub, this would be fine, but for a family oriented restaurant, not so much. 8. It may have been a bad night for them or I was just one unlucky dude to receive such poor experience today, but the couple of previous 2-star reviews here on Unilocal seems to be right on with what I have observed and experienced. 9. Rick’s is over-hyped and being a new establishment in town and a sudden change in choice for people, many are excited and happy, but in reality, there are much better similar type food joints outside of Milton. Rick’s has a long way from establishing itself as a quality, high standard, good experience restaurant. 10. I wasted $ 35 today! Should have ordered Chinese from Lucky Wok! Bön appetite!

This is the least bad restaurant in Milton. However when Subway, Mcdonalds and Domino’s are your competition how can you not come out on top? The food was a mixed bag. Nachos were fine from a flavor perspective but they skimped on the serving size and the toppings. Entrees we good but not great. Decent fries. All food was hot. Servers were nice. Service speed was reasonable. All of that being said when I want to go out in Milton and I am to lazy to make the trek to Burlington or St Albans I would go here again. To be fair, for Milton this is a really good restaurant but not on par with Burlington or St. Albans. Go see for yourself

Okay, the first time I went it was alright. Very nice wait staff, great atmosphere. Pretty good food. Second time it was really good! I have now been 4 more times, taken 3 different groups of folks and all agree it is really excellent! Frankly I look at some of these reviews and scratch my head… «all the tv’s had football on… no news» Umm… okay… did you go to eat or watch tv? It’s a BAR and grill — football makes sense. «The place was loud» — again… It’s a BAR and grill. What did you expect? I personally found that I had no problem carrying on a conversation with my wife, or my grandparents or any of the groups of friends I went with and we sat in different places each time. The fries — if you like Al’s style(and I personally do) are great. The nacho’s I wouldn’t mind if they cut the meat a bit smaller and made it a big plate using regular chips — or maybe offer both types. They are really good — don’t get me wrong — but are the fancier type of nachos. I would love to see both options. The wings are very good! Not the best around but right up there. I would love to see hotter wings available as their hot was kinda sissy but that said they are cooked very well and have absolutely fantastic flavor. The ribs… now those are good! Nice charred edges, thick and hearty. Not the pansy little ones you get at chili’s or other restaurants. These are real and they are good! Steak tips — not bad at all. Looked to me like the second time we went they were using bigger ones then other folks mentioned. I have lived in Milton a long time and very fondly remember ‘Ricks Pizza’. Man I miss that place! I am seriously psyched to see Rick’s Grill go in. About time we had something like that there again and the owner has outdone himself — and no, I am in no way, at all, in any fashion associated with Rick’s other then loving to eat there! Give it a shot! Don’t treat it like a fancy restaurant — rather thinks of it as a much nicer and cleaner than normal Bar and Grill like it is and believe me, you will leave happy and full.

First time there tonight and with it being a Friday it was really busy. They need to add parking space lines in the parking lot if they continue with the crowd. I had a woodchuck and my husband had a soda. We ordered a dozen med wings that were good, but not the best I ever had. I had a taco salad for my main entrée which again was good, but it needed more. It was basically lettuce and taco beef with salsa and sour cream. I hope the owner reads this because my suggestion would be add hot peppers and red onion. Those extra touches would be great! Husband had chicken Monterey that he liked but thought was too salty. It came with 2 pieces of chicken and was a good serving. His side was coleslaw(heavy on the mayo) and sweet potato fries(AMAZING). Total bill came to $ 40 which I found very reasonable. It was very loud at times, but I blame that on the people sitting around us. Also be aware, the ONLY seating options are average size booths and a bar. Not a good place for a big get together. We also observed a couple of other tables asking for their check from other waitress. Not sure if that was related to how busy it was, but we had great service! Overall good and we will be back.

Don’t waste you time or money. Food was not worth the money and service was less then good. Had to try it but will not return. Sad to say Milton dinner has better food. They only have beer not a full bar. Food was over priced to top it off. Huge let down.

I wanted to preface this review with a bit of background. Like many I find that I post negative reviews much more quickly than good ones. I guess the saying we tell 10 people about a bad experience, and 1 about a good one holds true more than we think. That being said, when possible, I try to provide a second review with an update within a reasonable amount of time. I then commit myself, when a restaurant has turned things around, to posting the positive results as quickly as I did the negative. This is my second review of Rick’s Grill Recent Review: I stopped in for an afternoon lunch. Things were steady but, not super busy. I grabbed a seat at the bar and was greeted by Patrick. I’d describe Patrick as somewhat eccentric, but he was clearly on his bartending game. He greeted me and was polite. I ordered 12 hot wings extra crispy with a side of blue cheese. While I waited for my wings, I sipped a brew. While Patrick didn’t recommend a beer(which he didn’t need to), he clearly understood beer and what an IPA beer meant. While I waited for my order, he delivered a plate for bones, wet wipes and extra napkins as well as set of silverware. Just before the wings were delivered gave me to sides of blue cheese, perfect for 12 wings. The package was labeled BC, so there was no mix up with ranch this time. I knew my order was ready because I heard Patrick ask the kitchen if the wings were done extra crispy. He delivered the wings and even opened a blue cheese(he didn’t need to do that, it was kind of creepy). Wings were excellent. The sauce, even if it’s Frank’s was pretty good when served on the wings. Patrick checked in again but didn’t hover. I watched as he served other guests and he seemed to provide the same positive experience. Overall, I’d bring this place us a couple stars. I had a enjoyable time, and after reviewing the menu again, and hearing some order a turkey dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, I’d say there are lots of food options. Rick’s Grill provided excellent service, good food and a enjoyable lunch environment. I’m glad I stopped in a second time. After my most recent visit, I recommend Rick’s Grill as a worthwhile stop.

I am so glad this type of restaurant has opened up in such a great location in my town. We came tonight around 5:45 as a party of 8, and 5 of us were under the age of 12. It was very busy, but the host worked out a good solution for 2 booths near each other. The older 4 kids loved having their own booth and the waitstaff treated them like little grownups. Our drinks came within 5 minutes or less and our food order came within 20 minutes of ordering. This is not bad for 8 full dinner meals! The food: Standard family restaurant fare. Burgers, wings, wraps, hot sandwiches, a small seafood section, salads, and desserts. Beer and wine only at this time. The three adults had wraps, all different kinds. I had the chicken ceasar wrap. The wrap itself was a delicious tomato tortilla and the lettuce inside was fresh and crisp. Nothing soggy like I have gotten at other restaurants and not just iceberg lettuce either. There was just enough dressing on it and to my delight it did not drip all over my hands. The sweet potato fries… the only word coming to mind is heavenly. We did have to ask for honey mustard which, in my opinion, should be standard, but it came very quickly. My co-diners also were very satisfied with their own wraps and we all just couldn’t get over how good the fries were. Not limp and greasy at all. The atmosphere: I have heard complaints that the atmosphere was too noisy, music too loud, patrons were cussing loudly, 10 TVs were tuned to only one channel and that it did not have a family friendly feel to it. It couldn’t have been more different in my experience tonight. If you ask me, the kind of noise I heard tonight is the noise of a successful business. People were talking and laughing and having a great time. I didn’t hear any music playing at all. No one was cussing loud enough for me to hear, and the loudest part of the night was my own 3 year old squealing with laughter. The inside is very much a sports bar feel, kind of mixed with diner. Clean bathrooms, unfortunately just one toilet for each gender so only one person at a time All the seats are booths, which I prefer anyway, and there is a medium sized bar that was full of all kinds of people. The TVs were all on different station but I wasn’t watching any of them. Too busy socializing with my husband and friend! There is also free wifi, just ask for the password. The waitstaff: no complaints! none of our food was wrong and everything was done in what I would consider a timely manner. We got our check a little quicker than I thought actually. The prices: I have also seen comments on Facebook that it was really expensive. I don’t know if they are used to going to McDonalds or what but compared to a lot of restaurants for this kind of food I was impressed. With drinks it worked out to about $ 10 per person. Kids meals are around $ 5-$ 6 and regular entrees are anywhere from $ 7-$ 20. I didn’t memorize all the prices but my meal was sizeable and I had a beer(also a good price: $ 4 for a draft Switchback!). Bottom line: I have no complaints! I will definitely be back! Its affordable and fun and I can walk there. The owner is a long time business man and he responds quickly to complaints and criticism. If something happens that you don’t like, speak up! Business in this kind of town need to interact with the community they serve, and vice versa. Note: they also have take out, which I have not and probably will not use, so I can’t attest to that.

It’s a new place as of this review, so they are probably still working out some kinks. That said, we probably won’t go back. Bland, ordinary food. French fries were cold. Kids menu order could have fed a large, hungry man. Assailed on all sides by multiple waitstaff«checking on us,» yet for some reason we had to wait a very long time to order, and 2 out of our 3 orders were wrong. We were given a dessert on the house but there’s only so many ways to dress up a mess. There are 10 televisions in the place, which is only a little larger than your average diner. All of them were showing American football. 10 TVs and not even one of them could show something else? A news channel has fairly broad appeal and is good for conversation starters… Not that conversation was very easy. Despite the place being recently renovated and the interior being new, the acoustics are like a middle school gym and the place is extremely loud. If they weren’t brand new and they weren’t one of the only non-pizza-or-fast-food options in this town, I’d probably give them only 1 star. But kudos at least for trying to offer something different than most, and hopefully the place will get better quick. If not, I don’t see them sticking around very long.
