So friendly and welcoming. I am always greeted in a professional an friendly manner and asked if I need help. They always have plenty of inventory. They have helped me with free samples to figure out what my finicky cat would enjoy. Great family run business.

Solid place to get pet supplies. We go for our buddy boy Ralph. He loves coming in the place. Everyone is helpful and attentive. They carry a lot, and I mean a lot of various pet supplies. If they don’t have it they’ll get it for you. Prices are also reasonable. They also have products you can’t find anywhere else which makes them unique. My only gripe would be the return policy. When you return something you get store credit not a refund. I get it but at the same time no, give me my money back. Make sure you know what your getting and want it. Other than that I am a big fan!

I’ve been coming here for over 3 years and spend at least $ 30 a month. The usual items are the 12″ bully sticks and raw patties for my little Pomeranian.
Just stopped in and they were completely out of the 12″ bully sticks and only the 6″ ones were left. (Must be the holidays and inventory ran out quicker I get it) I asked if they could charge me 2 6″ bully sticks for the price of 1 12″ since they were out of the product I usually get. They said no .
Honestly this really irritated me. It’s not so much of the value of the amount I could of saved but the principle of how this business is run. It made me feel that they really don’t care to make the customer happy or show appreciation. They come off as greedy.
I’ve been in a family business since I was 5 years old and never would do this to my customers or make them feel unappreciated. Also don’t even give recognition for coming in so often. I like to support family businesses. But I’m completely done with them. There’s plenty of family pet shops I can go to.
You just lost over $ 400 in yearly sales from me!

Fantastic selection of food, treats, and toys and good prices too. The staff has always been friendly. When in the back part of the store I always have at least two different employees ask me if I need help with anything.

Usually I have have found people in the natural foods business to be friendly and welcoming — the people who work here were anything but, over multiple times that I was a customer this past year. No one greeted me or asked if I needed help, and they were generally cold and unfriendly when I was checking out at the register. Their stock was adequate for what I needed, but the (lack of) customer service was a big turnoff.

I just called Bark N’ Scratch Outpost to find out more information about the brands being carried and had a delightful conversation with the person who answered the phone. She was super-​knowledgeable and took her time to listen to my questions and provide thoughtful answers. We’re moving back to the area after a long time away, and it was so nice to be treated to some of that home-​town Milwaukee charm we’ve been missing! Will definitely be shopping here once we’re back!

Felt compelled to share my great customer service experience.
I started going here after City Pet closed and it’s the closest place to my house to buy dog food. The staff is always very friendly and very helpful. Today was exceptional. I wanted to switch dog food because my 2 large dogs go through bags of food very quickly! I went with the intention to just walk around and compare prices but one of the employees offered his help. After sharing some great advice for feeding and caring for my pups, he then carried the 40 lb. bag of dog food to the front counter and then to my car! I didn’t even have to ask. You just don’t get service like that these days. And to top it off, the price was very fair. Just $ 36 for a 40 lb bag! If you live in the Milwaukee/​Tosa area, this is the best place to do business by far.

This is the best pet supply store anywhere around here. They carry high quality foods and will offer advice. They know their stuff. I am a member of the Dog Food Advisor, which I highly recommend and these Bark «n» Scratch people. They are on top of all the top quality dog foods. I have received advice about feeding problems from the gal there with the red hair that I felt was invaluable. I also get The Whole Dog Journal and all their dog food reviews and Bark ‘n’ scratch is in the loop on everything. I am not the only one that likes this store, it is busy and thriving. If you love your animal companions, go here and let them help you.

Great selection of quality pet products, especially healthy foods. The staff is always friendly and extremely knowledgable and helpful.

This place is adorable. I stopped in to purchase some presents for two playful felines with whom I was staying and had a plethora of options from which to choose. The staff was very willing to help me find what I was looking for and I appreciated the array of natural options.

Bark n Scratch is right down the street from my house, and the fantastic reviews drew me in.
From the outside it just looks like a giant warehouse with a puppy sign, on the inside… well it’s a giant warehouse. I feel that the prices for my dog’s food (Fromm) are exactly the same as they are at Pet Supplies Plus. The treat and chewie options are much more extensive, especially in the ‘natural’ department. The star subtraction is due to the staff — this was my second time in here and both times I was mostly ignored. I wandered up and down the aisles confusedly until I noticed it was all cat products. Finally I figured out that patrons were allowed through the door into the back part, and even then I was surprised that they had no carts to carry heavy bags of dogfood. Luckily I had a boyfriend to help, but still, you see the dilemma. They had a lady offering free samples of dog food, and she wouldn’t leave us alone, following us around and pointing out things she liked to give to her animals.
I think it’s nice and convenient to have close to home, but I wouldn’t go out of my way just to go here.

I’ve been here a couple of times and they have a great selection and the staff are very helpful and friendly. They helped me find some stuff to help my dogs paws as well as check out the dog backpacks which I hope to get soon. They also have great seminars, two of which I’ve attended. Both were basically about keeping your dog busy and not bored, which is perfect to help with my super energetic Border Collie. They were very interesting and helpful!

Bark’N’Scratch reminds me a lot of The Natural Pet in Bay View. They have a huge selection of natural pet foods, treats and remedies for both dogs + cats, long with some toys and accessories. With all the issues recently surrounding deaths from contaminated treats and food, we are careful what we purchase for our dog. This store caters to those who want to be sure they are feeding their pets safe, healthy food and those looking for more natural solutions to things like allergies.
BNS is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside — the selection is quite extensive and there are lots of friendly staffers to help if you’re confused. I really like that they carry local brands like Fromm’s — the only dog food brand never to have a recall, and located right in Mequon. They also carry Plato treats which our dog absolutely loves.
Price-​wise the natural stuff is going to cost more than Alpo, but I personally don’t mind as long as I’m sure my pet is safe and happy.
FYI — they also carry a delightful product called «Scoot Bars» which the package helpfully describes as «delicious bars (did someone taste test?!?) to support anal gland health». So there’s that.

Just went in here for the first time a week ago to pick up cat food and was very pleased. From the outside it appears to be a small store, but it actually goes back quite aways. They had a huge selection of your better pet foods (blue buffalo, frohm, etc.) at a competitive price to your big box pet stores. The staff was very helpful and friendly, but not on you at every turn. When checking out they asked if we saved UPC’s for blue buffalo cat food for frequent buyers, we had no idea about this and we were given an envelope.

Let’s start off with the fact that a person from Petsmart told us to go here. The people here are amazing. Extremely knowledgeable and not out to upsell you — just to make sure you’re equipped with the information to take the best care of your pet as possible. We’ve also found that they’re generally cheaper than most other pet supply chains. Go here. Definitely worth a shot.

I love this store! Everyone seems very knowledgeable and friendly. I came in confused about what type of food would be right for my cat who has food allergies (I know right?) They not only explained what was in the different foods, they explained why some ingredients are healthier and more beneficial to my cat specifically. They offer many options like raw and wet foods in various «flavors» and always have helpful and logical answers to my (many) questions. My cat is nutso about the food they helped me choose. It is clear when you visit that the staff cares about your pet and their nutrition as well as the longevity and quality of their life. I’d recommend B&Scratch to anyone!
The prices are fair compared to other stores I’ve been to and you definitely get more than what you pay for. If cost is a concern for anyone on a budget, consider that a month of my cat’s food is equatable price-​wise, to a lunch out with a friend; my cat is definitely worth the sacrifice :)

I was worried that my big orange boy was showing symptoms of feline diabetes, so I stopped in to see if they had any food that helps control this. I explained what I was
looking for and was recommended two brands of food. I ended up going with the one that was considered the best brand for managing diabetes.
I was impressed with the selection and the knowledge of the staff. The store is well-​organized and everyone was friendly.
They have a very generous return policy, too. They will exchange the food for store credit if your animal refuses to eat it. Luckily mine seem happy with it so far.
Sure, it costs more than Purina, but don’t our pets deserve it?

Love this place for locally manufactured, natural dog food and supplies. The owners are very knowledgeable and educate their customers on every aspect of pet care. They give great referrals for groomers, doggie day care, etc. Yes, most things are a tiny bit more expensive than other pet retail chains, but the visit is worth every penny.
If you believe in holistic care for pets and want to shop locally, this is a great store to frequent.
