The major intersection of Howell, Lincoln and Kinnickinnic Avenues is viewed by many as the«downtown» hub of Bayview. Since the addition of Collectivo Coffee(then it was still Alterra) on the south side of Lincoln, the beautification of this area has been a focal point of many local organizations. I’ll leave coverage of the political polarization of the project to more seasoned journalists. This Art Stop is the resulting architecture dubbed«the Gateway to Bayview». During the daylight it’s a rather industrial looking structure hosting a bit of function by way of concrete bus stop benches. Yet at night the extensive lighting system(see photos) does give it a rather artistic tone, which is rather welcoming against many of the rustic hues in the neighborhood. As a resident of said neighborhood I’m in favor of any structure that is functional and improves the landscape, something the Art Stop certainly does!
