Our new house has a beautiful wood staircase which is great — however, our dog was having some issues with slipping and actually went down a few stairs. NOT good. So we needed a runner and decided to head back to Carpet Mill. They can absolutely order you anything you want from the big mills but you’re going to get the best price if you can choose something they have stocked. Because we wanted a runner vs. rolled goods I was surprised that we had a pretty decent number of choices. Even better — a Mohawk 100% wool runner for $ 15/sf — I’m in interiors and that is a DEAL, y’all. The carpet might be inexpensive(this is not cheap carpet, it’s a really good price) but the install on both of our jobs was top notch. At our old house, the stairs needed to be completely wrapped which was tedious and complicated — they made it look great. On this job, they had to do some mitering at the top of the stairs and they got it absolutely perfect — seams are invisible and the pattern matches exactly.(See Brian M’s photos) I still say you probably need to be a bit more hands on and ask good questions but they’re my source for carpet — period.

I decided to use Carpet Mill Store because my mom recommended them, as she has used them several times over the years and has been satisfied with her experiences. I was not disappointed! I moved across the country and needed someone to install about 650 square feet of carpet in a short period of time at my house in Milwaukee and do it on a budget. Julie was great. She met with my sister to help pick out the carpet, came to my house to measure, and all I had to do was pay — everything else was taken care of. They removed all of my old carpet, disposed of it, and installed the new carpet all within a short period of time. Overall, the experience was seamless and I have zero complaints. I would recommend Carpet Mill Store to family and friends.

Blink and you’ll miss it! Conveniently located on 13th and Lincoln, this local flooring super center has been around for 50+ years. Also, it’s family owned I believe. Carpet is expensive. Seriously. I look at area rugs online a lot, and boy howdy… dem shits ain’t cheap. At Carpet Mill, they so their own binding so you can create a custom area rug for pennies, comparatively speaking. The staff is super nice and helpful; I stopped in to procure some carpeting to craft a human sized cat tree(don’t ask, or do, whatever!) and the gentleman working helped me rifle through all the random remnant options and helped me select something pliable and workable and aesthetically congruous with what I was trying to do. THENHEGAVEMETHECARPETFORFREE. They have a leopard print carpeted freight elevator, too. Seriously. This is a magical carpet land. Go and spend your money locally and work with nice people and snag great deals. You can thank me later.

Great prices on in-stock flooring. Good prices on carpet ordered from the mill. Very helpful floor staff. The proposal from the firm was too low to believe, and sure enough there was a math error they needed to correct. I was sent two crews(engineered wood, and carpet) and both were excellent. A previous reviewer complained that his installation left behind a pile of scraps and junk. In my experience, this is pretty standard. I wanted to paw through the scraps myself to decide which to keep and which to toss, as I’ve done on many houses before. My bill was paid 50% in advance and 50% upon completion. Very pleased. I went into their store with a selection of carpets I wasn’t crazy about, but would fit the budget, and found that Carpet Mill Store could give me selections normally way outside my budget. Would have loved to have the original low bid be true, but that would be asking to rip off a place that served me exceptionally well.

I really liked these folks but a series of mistakes and messy installers soured me on this Milwaukee institution. We worked it out, but I felt they just dropped the ball after I paid the bill. Pros: Cheap if you use what they have in stock. They beat the other guys by $ 700! Now, if I had ordered from a catalog for special delivery, I wonder if the price would have been so great. I think this place is good if you are going to do less than 1000 square feet and are flexible about the carpet and will use in-stock carpet. I would go back here and use them again based PURELYONPRICE. Cons: The guys who install the carpet might make a mess and move stuff around and not put it back, leave debris all over the place, and leave your house door wide open without telling you they are leaving. When I called to complain they sent out a crew to finish the job, but then seemed afraid I would not pay them the balance. I paid all of it, but was not happy with the mess, the under-quote, and the worry of having some guys just leave an apartment wide open. When staff and install guys make mistakes they don’t comp you, call you to apologize, or refund a % of your cost. Not cool.
