Oh, how I want to love Circa. Circa reminds me of a bar that is near and dear and is close to my heart; a bar that shall remain nameless because, well… it has to. Circa, in a nutshell: Ambiance: AWESOME. Much like this other, nameless establishment, it has a homey/cozy vibe, it’s situated in the lower of what was once most likely a flat, warm woods and whitewashed walls. I was, however, a bit put out by the giant TV that was tuned to the real estate channel. Shane H and Erin B and I found this perplexing, but after awhile I was transfixed.(Don’t ask me why… maybe it’s a some sort of weird looking inside houses thing I have, or something.) Also, clearly a ton of regulars, who were definitely territorial, but also funny. I think when you encounter those sorts of situations, you have to roll with it. Oh, and music? Van Morrison FTW, Dave Matthews, not so much. Blame it on Pandora. Selection: BAD. I hate to say this, but it’s true. A little re-tooling, and this bar could be the best on the East Side. But as it stands now, they’re definitely lacking in the selection/product knowledge/drink knowledge department. Circa! For what you currently are, I like you. I wish you were a little more, but that’s okay. I’ll be back, for sure.

Nice, cheap tall cans of Bitburger. Kind of place you could stick around for a few hours. Cute boys.

I love Circa. The lighting is dim and romantic, the bar is decorated like the living room of your first — ok, better than your first, more like your second — apartment, mismatched furniture, cute stuff on the walls. The bartenders are friendly. Circa is absolutely one of my favorite neighborhood bars north of Brady.
