Classic Slice on North Avenue, my favorite delivered pizza has closed. The Bay View location is still open, but doesn’t deliver to the Brewer’s Hill Neighborhood!

Really excellent and great variety, it should have been supported by the east side community, i went several times when i was up from racine. Always great. Sad it is now closed and milwaukee can’t break its mickey d’s habit.

The pizza and breadsticks here are so so so sooooo good! I find myself craving it often and have to go get my fix of Classic Slice. Good place to hang and eat with friends. It is a little pricey though.

Stopped in for a slice of Pizza and a lemonade on my lunch, really not knowing what I was getting. What I was getting was a slice of pizza that was half the size of small VW. It was huge, but not in a good way. I didn’t want a slice a pizza that big, nor did I want to spend 10 bucks on lunch that day, but lesson learned. But, it was delicious. I purchased the baconizer, which was really meaty and cheesy, plus the dough is pretty well done. I will be back, but the next time I will know what I am getting myself into(a meal for two, or lunch and dinner).

I do not claim to be a pizza fanatic and can hardly tell the difference between a Chicago and a NY pizza. But I will say that Classic Slice is the only place I think of when I get a craving for some cheesy, doughy, snacking. My only gripe is the«rough» texture of the crust. I’m a wimp when it comes to crust. Extra kudos for being so vegan friendly! They don’t charge for vegan cheese! You dairy haters can order cheese bread, calzone, or pizza with the rest of us! For no extra charge! Go nuts!

This is the best pizza option in the area. It’s a bit more spendy than say, Pizza Shuttle, but it’s worth the extra«dough.»(Did you pick up on that wickedly funny pun?! Did ya?!) Props for whole wheat crust and extra kudos for the staff not being bro-ish dbags(I’m looking in your general direction, Ians).

The only thing keeping this at a 3 star instead of 4 star review is the lack of consistency that we’ve encountered there. We live just houses away from the new Classic Slice and at first were very skeptical. We did not know about the Bay View location, so we didn’t make the connection. The new location is in a strip mall next to an Open Pantry and a Cricket store and originally had a plastic sign, so we didn’t really take it seriously. Thankfully, someone forced us to go in and we’ve been back several times since. We’ve also been to the Bay View location. We absolutely love their calzones. They are the size of a football, under $ 9 and you get to choose what goes in them. They come with a Ricotta and Parm blend with garlic and spices and I always get mine with Pesto and Sausage. One time it came with so much sausage, I had to pull half of it out. Another time it was almost empty. Sometimes the crust is flaky and yummy, others its a bit tougher. We continue to go back for them, so the varying degrees haven’t kept us from ordering, but I do hope that as they settle in and get all their employees on the same page, the food will even out. I do love that they have a punch card and they even«personalized» one for us to use toward calzones, since that’s pretty much all we order

I’m kind of tough on pizza… as a Chicago native, I usually prefer deep dish. But I’m always open to NY style pizza, especially if it is done right! I had mixed feelings on this place: What I did like about this place was the ability to order a slice with any topping or combination of toppings! The atmosphere is great for hanging out & having a great conversation. What I didn’t like was the sauce… I’m not sure why, maybe too sweet?

Walking in it looks like the entrance of a bar. All the ads you could ever want. Also speaks to supporting the community if you ask me. The people working are nice. Cute blonde with some tats and a Rosie the Riveter look. Total for a large with three toppings, salad and breadsticks $ 35, not bad. The pizza and breadsticks were great. The crust is the right amount of thickness, not NY if ask me, but I’m a Chicago girl so my opinion is a bit skewed. The breadsticks are made on their crust with garlic and cheese. The sauce they provided was tangy and delicious. Next time maybe we’ll eat in and try a tall boy along with the pizza.

There are a few ways to provoke an all out fight between two friends. Some of them that come to mind include stealing his girlfriend, crashing his car or, most importantly, insulting his preference in pizza. That being said, I am a NY Style Pizza fan. Having lived out in The City for several years, it’s the style of pizza I have grown to love. All of you Chicago deep dish lovers… take a hike. In Milwaukee, however, it’s difficult to find a really good NY Style Pizza. The best I have come across is, without a doubt, Classic Slice! First of all, to be NY Style in my mind, it takes more than a specific dough style or topping. The restaurant needs to sell pizza by the slice. This is a key element. Classic Slice does this and does it well. The slices are pretty much quarter pies anywhere else. From an ingredient perspective, the dough is very well made and thin. Not any of this«Wisconsin style» thin nonsense either. However, as a word of caution, sometimes Classic Slice is known to overcook their pies a little bit. The dough gets a little too charred in their fire oven. Next up is the sauce… a great Italian red. Well done and true to form. The toppings are my favorite part of the pizza at Classic Slice. Try the«meatballs» which are essentially sliced meatloaves covering the pie. So delicious! While the pizza is not transport me back to The City, it is pretty darn good. I go back a lot or GETDELIVERY! Yeah for delivery! Also — p. s. — The calzones are as big as a small dog. Enjoy!

I have to admit, I had high expectations going into Classic Slice from reading reviews and friends opinions. The cashier was extremely friendly but not very helpful. I looked confused and would have appreciated some guidance on how to order. Since I felt pressured, I placed my order and then was given no guidance as to how long it was or where to wait as every sitting place looked like it was meant for dining in. After waiting 20 minutes, my slice was ready. I took it home and was unimpressed. I will give them that it was fresh which I really appreciate. However, if I would’ve known that they put pizza sauce on a mac n cheese pizza, I would’ve changed my order. My pizza slice just didn’t taste right. I chalk this up to inexperience and might try Classic Slice again. They definitely need to up the ante when it comes to customer service.

I’m really inclined to like Classic Slice, the best pizza I’ve had here in Milwaukee so far. They make thin, large NY-style pies and they do a great job on interesting and flavorful toppings. Expect to drop around $ 6 for one of their giant slices, or $ 18 for a specialty pie(most of their choices are great). I’ve tried both locations, and I think I prefer this North Ave location(better crust!) over the older location down in Bay view. Thus far my favorite is the pesto; basilicious and the best I’ve had since Rozino’s in Madison closed(RIP). They feature a LOT of choices for vegetarians and even vegans, keep that in mind! The vibe here is sparse and a bit of throwback. Think brick walls, gradeschool cafeteria furniture, and 80’s stand-up arcade games. It’s even located in something of an urban strip mall by the 7 – 11, which is somehow both tragic and authentic at the same time. MIlwaukee is getting more and more respectable pizza options. I still recommend Lisa’s(just a mile up Oakland) for those few times you want to sit down for awhile with a bigger group and order beer by the pitcher. If I want something really good, or a al carte, or you have vegetarians in the mix… get your butt to Classic Slice for some great eats.

The pizza by the slice are good but take a LONG time. The one off of KK in Bayview’s pizza seems to taste so much better. Not sure if it’s new ovens or staff error? I’ve been here twice and it’s let me down a bit. Went in there at 9pm once and they were mopping which is fine but they used so much bleach that it really made me not happy to be there waiting forever for one slice of pizza. On another visit, the cashier asked if I had been there before, I replied yes. And then I ordered 2 different slices to go. He then started to have me look at how big their slices are and if I was sure I wanted two. My responce should have been,” I’ll be as big of a fat ass as I want”. And didn’t feel like explaining to him that I didn’t feel like cooking that night and wanted to take in a slice for lunch to make my co-workers jealous… Sorry but they won’t be jealous anymore after that costomer service. Hope the smart ass knows that I’m a talker who has a lot of friends.

Great vegan pizza with vegan cheese. Note: You have to request the vegan cheese, otherwise the vegan pizza just has no cheese.

HOLYCRAP! I’ve never seen a slice of pizza this huge. How do you eat such a thing?!? well, it was delicoius. I also ordered breadsticks which were extremely dissapointing. Menu was unique. I’d say go here if you’ve never been just for the experience.

I was excited that they opened another Classic Slice because I’m a big fan of the one in Bayview. I wish I could say it was as good of an experience as the one in Bayview. The place was empty when we got there and every single table was dirty. The(at least) four people working there were horsing around in the back(I sound so old…). The person who took our order was less than friendly. The pizza we got had burnt crumbs all over the bottom, giving it a weird taste. I’ll definitely be sticking with the Bayview location.

After quite a bit of searching, I found great pizza in Milwaukee. We ordered one of the Baconizer pizzas from their specialty pizzas list. It has bacon, sausage, mushrooms, and pesto. We were told it would be an hour to an hour and a half for delivery, but it showed up in 45 minutes. This is much better than the up to an hour and a half that we were told since I was eady to implode from hunger when we called it in. The pizza had tons of toppings and tasty sauce. I really can’t wait to try more.

I’m happy they opened a location near where I live. It’s great to be able to order carry-out, since their delivery in Bay view is less than stellar. This location is just up the block from the old Open Pantry and is clean and spacious, with a few large booths and some long tables. The pizza here is the same as at the other Classic Slice; huge slices, fresh ingredients and a great tasting crust. The crust is very flavorful without being greasy. It’s light and fluffy with a nice crunch without being too dry. It’s hard to explain, you’ll just have to try it. Of the three pizzas I’ve tried, I liked them all. The Dolce pizza was delicious, but could have used a little more sauce. My wife had the vegan Super Veggie, which looked good. I tried the vegan sausage and it wasn’t too shabby. I then figured I would race to the opposite end of the spectrum and try the Meatallica. Normally, I think pizzas heavy on the meat are kind of gross, but I was curious to try their meatballs and figured I’d kill two birds with one stone. To my surprise, the pizza didn’t taste like a salt bomb as I had expected. The meatballs are sliced and have a very mellow taste that went well with the pizza sauce. I did end up picking off some of the excess bacon though. I can’t say I will ever get that pizza again for the sake of my heart, but it was tasty. If you’re eating in, you can read the various local news fliers while waiting for your pizza or you can pass the time like I do by drinking a bottle of Mexican Coke and playing a game of Donkey Kong.

I’m pretty happy that our side of town has a Classic Slice now! The slices are huge, really, and you can put whatever you want on it. My husband went to pick up some slices for us the other night and it was a little tricky to find the place. I have heard that they have since gotten a sign, so hopefully that will help. Best of all — they deliver to Riverwest! I might be biased, but I think that is all thanks to my cousin, and fellow Riverwester, who is a driver for them.
