Looking in Unilocal for late-​night joint? This is an option!
As a usual joint to eat at… it’s okay… But for late night… after the club eating? It’s pretty good.
Came by here before the big rush after the clubs close. It’s your pretty typical Mexican place with your tacos burritos and other entrees/​plates. I got a chicken burrito (pollo) with the impression that I would be eating pollo asado. What the waitress came back with was… MASSIVE (GRANDE!) burrito… see picture… I couldn’t even hold it like I usually do to eat it and instead cut into it. In it, I got found myself shredded chicken. Although it was not what I expected… the HUGE burrito for $ 5 blew my mind too much to notice it’s not the the type of meat I wanted. It was good, nonetheless. Did I mention BIG?
Anyways, good place to go for late night food when no where else is open, but I probably wouldn’t go otherwise.

Giving this four stars based soley on it’s lack of white obnoxious drunk idiots post bar time in the city and their truly authentic Mexican fare. Shhhh, don’t give directions to anyone coming from Water street to this hole in the wall on National.
Are you a vegan? that sucks, go eat some carrots in your fridge.

Despite the fact that I have never eaten here during conventional business hours or completely sober for that matter, El Jalapeño delivers consistent late night Mexican food that although still ‘Tex-​Mex’ in some regards is truer than its La Fuente counterparts. While nothing astounds there is a level of consistancy that one can find comfort in.
