Terrific place! Old school Italian restaurant look and I go here every year for my birthday! Best lasagna in town, just love the sweet sauce! If you get a chance, try one of their meatballs, they are huge and taste homemade!

Eaten at Filippo’s several times and each time it has been wonderful. We love the old time lounge feel.

Great Italian food and very reasonably priced! I had a glass of their house chianti, which was only $ 4.50 a glass and totally decent! For dinner, I ordered the chicken cacciatore, for $ 16.95, and my date had a combo where you select 3 entrees, for $ 21.95. He chose beef spedini, veal parmigiana and sicilian steak. All the dinners come with soup, salad, Italian bread and garlic bread. The homemade minestrone soup and the homemade Italian dressing, on my salad, were both very good. After filling up on soup, salad and bread, our entrees arrive, and I’m thinking to myself, I’m gonna need a to go box. I made it through half of my chicken cacciatore. It was so good, I wanted to keep eating it. There were 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, in a red sauce, topped with sauteed onions, mushrooms and green peppers, served with a side of pasta. The combo dinner was also great. The veal was perfectly tender, the sicilian steak was impeccably seasoned and the beef spedini was excellent. When we got the check, I was impressed! Two people had drinks, soup, salad, bread, entrees, and took half of our entrees home, and the bill was only $ 50. When I go back next time, I’d like to try their pizza.

I’ve been going to flippos for over 30yrs. The orginal restaurant was located on 76th and beecher, very small but cozy. Their pasta, pizza is excellent, never had a bad. meal in the whole time going there. I would suggest you dine in, or have delivery service, anytime. Order anything off the ’ menu, you won’t go wrong. I was surprised that they didn’t have 5 stars for this restaurant. The management, cooks, and. servers are excellent. Go give them a. chance when your in the mood for Italian food. JAS

Their food is subpar/mediocre. Their pizza is ‘OK’ I have ordered from them at least once a month for a year being as they are conveniently a block from me, usually pizza & almost always take-out and I would have GENEROUSLY given them 3 stars… But my experience yesterday takes the cake. Their customer service is horrendous. I write this to warn anybody who has self respect to how they are treated in a restaurant. I have high standards being as I work at a successful, hospitable establishment, but I’m also considerate that servers, kitchens, etc. get busy and no matter what, I always find the good in a meal & the service and I tip well. I felt mortified at how bad the staff treats their guests. To begin, my family and I wait at host stand to be sat. Several staff hover around host stand but don’t manage to acknowledge our existence. I would get it, if they were moving with any sense of urgency. But this was not the case. Finally after 5 minutes, a staff member ‘sees’ us and shortly says«hi», we say we want a table for 3 and they seat us, not saying anything else to us. Extremely rude. Next we sit. And we sit. And we sit. We look around… No server seems to be in a rush. Nobody says«I’ll be right with you.» There is no floor presence of a manager. We feel stupid. We sit. & sit. For at least 15 minutes. Finally we feel so embarrassed, I tell my family to leave while go to «host»(ha) stand & tell the slobby, sorry personality having girl who sat us that I’d like to speak to a manager. She smirks & says she’ll get her. I kindly explain my experience to manager & she seems receptive until I explain that I have no interest in dining in this establishment… Then she defensive says, «oh, thanks for letting me know» as if I’m in the wrong. I really hope I’m mistaken & she coached her staff appropriately afterwards. Sadly I feel I’m not and anyone who dines here can & will see this is a dysfunctional establishment that I absolutely guarantee is going bankrupt & it’s absolutely no surprise why.

They have the best pizza in town! I’m not a fan of crust & Filippos’ crust is one I would gladly eat!

I have been ordering from them for years, at least15, and probably more. Their pizza sauce is the best. I am addicted to it! BUT, unless you like a thick crust pizza, order it ‘thin’ and even then it will not be super crispy or thin, but it is still delicious, although some times it can be over floured on the bottom. The dough is made fresh and hand tossed. I would like their pizza even more if they offered more veggie toppings and if they used fresh mushrooms.(They used canned). If you don’t like too much cheese, tell them to go easy on it because they put on a ton of real cheese. Their fried eggplant is terrific and marinara sauce on the side is yummy. Cheese garlic bread is another good choice, as is the eggplant parm. Desserts are so-so, I’ve had better. I think they could step up on this and offer some other choices. I prefer to order delivery because their service can be slow and not always particularly friendly. I will remain a loyal customer because they know how to make a good pizza. With a few tweaks they could be off the charts!

Tonight my fiancé and I decided to try out Filippos for the first time. We wanted one last romantic dinner before our wedding. We had heard that despite the terrible service, the food is delicious. We were seated immediately and our waitress came over right away to introduce herself and bring water stating she would be right back to take our order. I’m not sure what«right back» meant to her, but we waited an hour without anybody at all checking on us. To make it worse, there were three waitresses and only five tables of diners. Plus we were sitting directly in the middle of the seating hour. After the hour we finally got up and walked out considering we had only received water and hadn’t even been able to talk to anyone about our service. I left nearly in tears. It was almost nine o clock and too late to really go anywhere else nice. We ended up eating frozen pizza at home :(. What’s worse is that I’m certain I will never truly know how good the food is, because I don’t think I’ll ever be willing to go back.

Service was good, atmosphere and food sucked. I think I’d rather go to Fazoli’s. I got the Chicken Alfredo and my husband got the Manicotti. Both pretty mediocre. We also ordered some wine… very cheap tasting. Don’t think we’ll be going again.

Subsequently, ordered three extra-large take outs for a party. My wife forgott to say«thin crust» and the«Sicilian» crust that we got was tough and will never be repeated. Also, the Filippo’s special uses a hot sausage and not-at-all to my liking.

Ordered from here for the first time. We ordered pizza, lasagna, a pasta, mozz sticks and black forest cheese cake. Pizza crust is tough and tastes as though it was made fresh, then frozen, then unfrozen and used for our pizza. The sausage on the pizza tasted frozen and the sauce tasted either weirdly seasoned or overcooked or burnt. The mozz sticks are good. The lasagna and pasta are… eh. The black forest cheese cake is okay. Don’t expect chunks of cherries in the cheese cake but rather a thin layer of cherry gel/flavoring. Oh and the salads that came with the entrées were starting to brown and the cherry tomatoes starting to slime. The order taker was very polite over the phone as was the delivery driver. Based on my experience, I will NEVER go here again.

Met family there at 6pm on a Wednesday. Sat and waited with a pitcher of water, for some one to pay attention to us for 45 minutes. It took an hour to get our drink order taken. More than an hour in, we got sodas and then we sat and waited for Bonita, again. I started to get upset, as we had plans after dinner. I didn’t want to seem like a jerk, so I asked if she had forgotten about us, and she said sorry, no, and then took our food order. The food came, we ate. And then sat, none of us eating, waiting for BONITA again. She never came. I asked to talk to a manager, who took our cokes off the tab, and got some one else to bring boxes for the left overs and finally bring our tab. Then she came and joked about how someone had beaten her to it. We missed most of our plans After dinner. The service was the worst I have ever had. Bonita and her neck tattoo had a cold. I asked Bonita if the soup had meat in it after serving it, and she said, with a know it all additude«No, there is no meat, it is CHICKEN base.» I will never go back. The food was expensive, the waitress was ignorant and rude. The décor is sad. Go across the street to Sofias!

My husband, father in law, and I like to do dinner at Filippo’s from time to time. Last night was another wonderful experience. The service here has always been great. We were able to be seated immediately, which was good because we were starving! Our server was very nice and attentive to us. We started out our meal with drinks. I highly recommend checking out the drinks that are listed on the placemat. I had the Roman Tea and my husband had the Strawberry Daiquiri. They also serve a very good non-alcoholic option called the Frutta Bibita, which is a combination of sherbert and fruit juices. It is very good. You can also order soda, beer, wine and other mixed drinks as well. For dinner, I had the Shrimp Siciliano, which is fresh shrimp that is simmered in marinara sauce and covered in mozzarella cheese. It was delicious. My husband had the lasagna, which was also very well done. My father in law had their pizza, which is his usual when he comes here. Filippo’s makes a very good pizza. You can get them in a small(12″), large(14″), and extra large(16″). The prices vary, depending on what you get on your pizza. I am already looking forward to our next trip here. I also want to say kudos for keeping the heat nice and toasty while we were there.

The food is good. If this was just about the food the place is great. What the downfall for this restaurant is the service. We dined in and were helped very quickly. After that, it took almost an hour just to get the food and it wasn’t very busy. During the meal no waitress, once we were finished no waitress, waited another 30 minutes and finally just got up and asked for the manager. Seems like they could do better on not forgetting customers.

We used to go here often. Now, it’s more like every 6months or longer. The quality of the food has dropped a bit since our last visit, but it’s still decent. The service on the other hand has gotten slower. Our food was cold by the time we received it. To say the least, we were disappointed. It might be a very long time before we try to eat here again. It might be to go next time. If you’re going to eat here, plan on at least 2hours before you leave. Even if all you order is a pizza, garlic bread and soda. :(

The pizza is very good, and the pasta is too. My grandmother, who is from Italy, loves this place. I like it a lot too. The flavors they tease out of the pizza toppings are intense. Garlic lovers will be pleased with the garlic bread. A lot of pizza places make their red sauce very sweet, but Filippo’s gets the tanginess and tartness of the tomatoes without serving it sweet like ketchup. The décor is a bit dated. But the food is fresh and flavorful. We go there a lot when we’re in Milwaukee and will continue to do so.
