This was my first Glo Run. I was able to go as a Unilocal!Elite and didn’t know what quite to expect. This was my first ever 5K. I had been practicing walking for weeks. The pick up area was a mess. There were 10 different lines for bib pick up. And huge lines at each station. Then you had to go to a different place to pick up your shirt, glow sticks, and there were 5 other stations to get latex glow paint. They had a DJ playing music and beverages you could purchase. When it was dark we all crowded into the small start area. The race began around 7:30PM ish. I didn’t know it was going to be an all terrain race. First we were on gravel, then grass, and then on very dark paths. Some had no lights at all. Runners were wiping out in the bushes as they tried to pass we walkers. It had also rained that day so there were puddles and mud. I think they could have done a better job at lighting the paths and some of the glow in the dark inflatables weren’t inflated. There was only one water station along the way. All in all I had a fun time. I wish my fellow Unilocalers and I would have arranged a meeting spot ahead of time. It didn’t seem like a good course for runners though.
