My son loves the playground. I love the tennis court(doubles as a dog park some days). The dog loves the park itself so he can walk around and pee and poop at will(which ofcourse I pick up in a bag and toss into the numerous trash cans). There is also a baseball diamond which I have seen softball teams using, and there are multiple picnic areas complete with tables(though you do need a picnic permit. It’s a pretty big park. I like it. I wish the trails were better lit at night to make it easier to walk the doggie, but all in all, this is a pretty great park.

My 2nd go to park in the hood. Bumping it up to 4 stars for the lake and trail access it offers on top of the tennis/bike polo court, softball diamond, well used playground, squirrels, and awesome trees.

Kern park is a great neighborhood park located at Humboldt and Keefe Avenue on the North side of Riverwest. Plenty of space for dogs to play, basketball, baseball fields, tennis courts and paved access to the Milwaukee River Trail. There is a dog group that meets there most mornings around 7.00 so if you don’t like being bombarded with off leash dogs, steer clear around that time. The river access is awesome and the river can be taken north to Estabrook park, or south to gordon park and all the way to downtown if you connect with the beerline. The rivertrail is almost always empty, any time of day. Great for dog walking. You’ll forget you are in the city.
