I received many friendly and thoughtful calls from a sales person over the course of many months as I planned a remodel of part of my home. I only really planned to order flooring from this company and found several products of interest. I took samples and looked at prices. Since I knew the size of my rooms and the price of the product, I could readily estimate what I thought they might cost. In fairness to them, I even gave the figure a 20% boost in my mind so that I would not be surprised if I neglected to consider something. After a really pleasant person came to measure the spaces, I got a call from the sales person who gave me an estimate nearly twice what I anticipated. I asked him to explain it and he did, but it made no sense. I then went to two other firms. One was non-responsive. However, I landed on another. I selected exactly the same product and the price was 55% of the estimate from Kerns. Along the way I also asked the sales person at Kerns to provide me with the name of someone who could repair a seam in carpeting I bought from another Kerns store. I clarified that I expected to pay for the repair. Instead of doing so, the sales person elected on his own to contact my now retired interior designer to have her take care of it. In the end? Good products. Pleasant enough sales person. Regular communications. Overpriced and did not listen to my requests.

I looked at Karastan carpets two days before their sale began. Salesman Howard called me to tell me about their sale, said he would hold a 30% off coupon for me. I went into pick out a few samples, and saw all pricing had been taken down. When I asked about pricing on three types I had seen just 2 days before, the prices he quoted were all 30% higher. Howard admitted they had raised the prices 30% to negate the advertised sale.
