Being from NYC Im very critical of restaurants I eat at, especially those out of my city. But on a recent trip to Milwaukee, a quick search on my phone and I ended up at Kwik Wok. I kept it simple an ordered a chicken an broccoli dish. I must say that I didn’t expect much out out if an wanted to play it safe. But this was phenomenal. Nice an crisp broccoli an tender chicken. The kitchen was exposed so you see the cooking and the ingredients were cooked fresh. During my 3 day stay Kwik Wok was the go to place for me. Egg rolls where great too. It’s more of a take out joint with few tables. Portions were plenty. price was definitely reasonable, an the food was excellent! And of course the staff was friendly but that’s something you find everywhere outside NY/NJ. This will definitely be my go to place next time I’m back in the area.

I noticed this place opened up down the street from my office a few weeks ago. I popped in to see what’s what. The place is smaller in size. It looked clean. It has an exposed kitchen so if you go you will smell like you’ve been in a kitchen. However, I got takeout so it wasn’t too bad. I ordered beef and broccoli as well as a cup of hot and sour soup. I have found very few places make good hot and sour soup so it is one of my standard tests and chances are if a place cannot make decent beef and broccoli, the rest of the food will not be that great. The good news is that everything was made up fresh. Due to the open kitchen I could see this with my own two eyes. The bad news is that the hot and sour soup was not so great. I kind of expected that because like I said, hard to find good hot and sour soup. The even worse news is that the beef and broccoli was only passable. There was a good amount of broccoli, beef, and bamboo, but very little flavor. Rice was rice, not bad, just rice. So the bottom line, would I eat here again? I might try it again in a few months when they refine their cooking styles to have more flavor. Until then, I guess I’ll go elsewhere.
