This store has been closed for a long time. Just thought I would give a heads up. It was ok when it was open but it didn’t last long.

Great LYS! The manager is fabulous and very helpful. Nice variety of yarn and price points. I love the late night knitting at Alterra next door.

Stopped by this yarn store to see the offerings. I love the large tables but it didn’t seem like they have very much yarn in stock. The woman working the front desk was very nice and offered her assistance.

Having grown up in a yarn shop, literally(my mom owned one), I can never resist the temptation to go into any and every yarn shop that I see. I noticed this store a while ago, and have driven by it many times, but just never stopped by. I am in the middle of a project right now and needed more yarn to get me through the weekend. After having went to two other yarn stores previously, I got what I needed, but would have been thrilled to find more. The location is great. Street parking was not a problem on a Saturday afternoon. When I walked in, the place struck me as a clean and pretty modern place. I did see some pretty neat yarn, but they just didn’t seem super well stocked or to have nearly the variety of so many other places that I’ve been to, in Wisconsin or anywhere else in the United States that I’ve been to. There was a class going on when I was there, and it was great to see enthusiastic new knitters learning what seems to be a dying art. There were some books, I’d say about the average amount that I might find anywhere else, or maybe a little less. There were many magazines on display. I guess that speaks to the type of crowd that this place caters to, as magazines are typically a bit more up to date and trendy than books. Shame on me for not looking at the needles or notions that they offer. So, I cannot speak on that. I was approached by a worker and asked if I needed any help. It is always nice to see people promoting their business and their craft(i.e. if you work in a yarn shop, you wear something that you knit or crocheted or made out of the products that you sell), and she was. I asked her about the yarn that I was looking for and she said that they tested that yarn out and didn’t really like it. Then she told me that she could help me find an alternative. I wouldn’t say that she handled the situation poorly, but she could have handled it better. I most likely will not go back to this yarn store because there are much better alternatives. However, I do hope that this place is successful. I wouldn’t know, because I didn’t buy anything, but knowing that they don’t wind yarn(from reading other reviews), puts this place even further down on my list. I will not buy yarn from a place that doesn’t wind it.

Great little local shop. Very helpful staff and connected to the community. Could use a yarn winder and compfy area to sit. Yet it is right next to the Altera coffe shop so that is a big plus.

This is a very pretty yarn shop. The giant tables near the front make me wish they had seating nearby for people who want to browse patterns or knit. For such a great looking, organized place, they don’t seem to offer the sense of community I’m used to from local yarn shops.

Most yarn shops are a yawn and a bit stale. Loop is absolutely amazing. The owners are impeccable with their attention to the interior detailing, yarn quality and classes. I wish they would open locations outside of Milwaukee.

I really want to like this place more. It is visually appealing, has a nice selection, lots of classes, and is right next to Alterra. BUT they do not wind yarn. What yarn store doesn’t even own a ball winder? They can’t say there is no room because the place is huge. Also, even though the place is big there is no good place to sit. The best yarn stores invite people to sit there and knit. I am always looking for a place that has weekly knitting gatherings where people can bring their work and hang out. They have Alterra right there so they are in a perfect location for a stitch and bitch(I don’t really like that phrase but you know what I mean) type club. Also, the place is relatively pricey if I compare to yarn stores in other cities. With the dearth of yarn shops in Milwaukee, there isn’t really cheaper competition around(i am not going to mention the M word here). I bought some yarn off the sale rack, but it was only 20% off — bringing it down to what I would have bought it for at a yarn store in Portland or San Francisco.

Loop is so conveniently located that it is detrimental to my bank account. The shop is bright and colorful. Everything is well organized with lots of space to move around. The staff are friendly and helpful. Really can’t say anything bad about the place: D
