On my quest to hit all the haunted houses I can this year, we decided to give Mars a try since I have never been to this one. I had asked around my friends to see if anyone had ever been here before and was given not the best feedback about it but decided to try it anyways. We arrived to stand outside in a line in front of the building. Not a bad wait at all and luckily it was not freezing outside. They had characters walking around outside terrorizing the crowd, I have to admit, these guys were cool. The ghouls outside working the lines had full costume, head mask and all that went down their chest. The masks were glued to their faces so they moved with the face, just like a movie character — finally a great costume. Ok, now I was excited, this has to be a great one since these guys outside are so cool. We proceed on in, up the stairs to the second story to pay our dues to enter — $ 12 which is pretty much the going rate. After you pay you wait inside a tiny tiny room until you are launched into darkness and begin working your way down pitch black winding halls. Without giving away every turn and taunt, I can sum it up by saying it was extremely dark and lacked scenery. There were props and some room décor but it was limited, you spent most of your time in the dark. Potential — there is much potential here. Supposedly this is a truly haunted building and they should have and could have worked off of that by less people jumping out and yelling and more effects and a little bit of light for us to see it. My trip to Mars was less than scarey and left me feeling a bit let down as I walked out.
