I found a listing for a single family home I was interested in renting. I had never dealt with this company before so I call and they first say before even looking at a property I need to «pre-qualify.» All they did was take the names of the two applicants and I assume run a CCAP search or something, because we were instantly told we were approved. I was then told by the person that their scheduling center would call me to book a showing time. So I get that phone call and I am TOLD that my showing is at 1pm. No one asked me what would work for me, nor did they seem interesting in if people were at their jobs during the day.(I mean, they want employed people renting from them, right? Then why tell someone when they need to be at a showing with no input? Crazy.) So I take the day off work to do this showing. The house(I arrived first) had literal garbage just dumped in the lawn. Not something that was shown in the pictures. Literal bags of garbage, broken toys about the yard, and grill charcoal just dumped into the bushes. So they informed me that an hour before the scheduled showing time, you need to call a confirmation hotline because and I quote, «We aren’t going to send an agent out to show a home and have someone decide to waste our time and not show up.» So you can imagine how I felt when it was 1:10pm and there wasn’t a damn person around to show me the place. I call the confirmation hotline back and they were all, «Oh, they didn’t tell the agent. She’ll be there. CLICK» With no explanation. So I call the main number back and explain that THEY scheduled the time so to not show up on their own scheduled time(which I would have never picked) was ridiculous. They couldn’t give me an answer on why this happened and snapped at me that the agent had left and was on her way. Around 1:25pm an agent showed up. The house had«house sitters» aka someone looked like they were squatting in the house(no real stuff kept there other than a pill bottle, a blanket on the floor, and a hot plate, no joke.) It reeked of freshly smoked cigarettes. Google Maps showed this property in foreclosure just less than a year ago, so I know it had to be the housesitters smoking in the house while they are trying to get it rented! It smelled awful! I was repulsed that they would even show this house. I asked the agent reasonable questions like, «How much more work is being done?» «Are the floors(which were ripped out) being repaired before the move-in?» «What about the broken cabinet in the bathroom?» to which I was told, «I DUNNO, we just show the place, we don’t own it.» So they aren’t even the property owners which is misleading. They have nothing to do with the property outside of being a financial mule for it. It was disgusting and impersonal, but mostly I was annoyed at their own excessive, multi-platform approach to showing a property without showing up on their own scheduled time or knowing a damn thing about the property. This experience alone will keep me from ever entertaining renting anything with their name associated with it, ever.
