I happened to be passing through Milwaukee on the day of a large sporting event I needed to see on TV. Trying to find a sports bar, Unilocal directed me to Zim’s. I went there but it was absurdly crowded and looked like more of a ‘scene’ than a sports bar. So I crossed the road to My Office, and located just what I was looking for: a laid back spot to see the match. The drinks were cheap($ 2 draft specials on a Saturday) and the bartender was fine & careful. There were several TV displays(4 if I remember right), making it simple to get a great view. There is nothing elaborate about My Office, but as far as I can tell it is a rather great small pub.

Come here every time I’m in Milwaukee for the best biscuits and gravy around. Stop in after work for Spotted Cow. Great place!

As a St Louisan, I found my dive bar in Milwaukee. Cheap drinks with a good pour. Bar snacks, friendly bar tenders. It would have been five stars if it wasn’t for all the country music… but I’ll get over it!

A dive bar with great food(breakfast) and friendly owners/staff. Basically the opposite of everything Amanda P. had to say. Maybe if she wasn’t so into herself she could have looked around and enjoyed the atmosphere? Can’t wait to visit again!

as divey as they get but a great location for a quiet drink amongst good company, the bartenders are cool dudes. they introduced me to bar dice when i moved here last summer, so it kinda is a home to me of sorts. good spot for a date if you want quieter convo.

Nice small downtown Milwaukee bar. Not the greatest place in the world but it is in a great downtown and has good drink prices and worthy of a quick stop with friends. it is small and has a dive feel to it and the food looks good in the pictures but didn’t see anyone eating it at the late hour I stopped for a fix of whiskey fix.

I’m SO sure I wrote a review for My Office in the past… but it must have been lost to the«saved as draft» demons. However I will never forget the worst parts of our visit and thus… can re-write my story. A priest, a white girl, and a black guy walk into a bar. It’s breakfast time, and My Office says: hey, we serve breakfast. A divey breakfast we wanted and a divey breakfast we found. What we did not want was to be treated like complete assholes. But that is also what we found. There were a few people at the bar, likely 3rd shifters having a post-work beer(respect), my apparently unlikely group, a waitress, and the owner. Now, my priest friend happens to be extraordinarily friendly and a bit of a jokester, so he tried making a few jokes with the waitress and the owner. Neither were having it. This owner could. not. have a cordial conversation if his life depended on it. I wish I could remember the specific lines he said, but all I recall is being very uncomfortable when he spoke at us. The food was divey; we expected nothing more. I asked if they served Bloody Marys… apparently a ridiculous question to ask in a bar over breakfast. Even asking for ketchup, salt, pepper, hot sauce and SILVERWARE was out of line. But honestly had the next part not happened, I would have chalked this all up to people being people and running the show they want to. The two gentlemen I was with are both awesome people: huge supporters of national service, a founding board member of an organization that rhymes with Shmeach Shmor Shmamerica, also a founder of a scholarship program for low-income students, active at nearly 100 universities and colleges, and a student in Divinity school. So yeah, we talked about religion. We did not prosthelytize… both men are influenced by more than just Christianity, and our discussions were focused on philosophy and humanism. But no one was being forced to listen to us. Yet. As we continued through our breakfast, the owner put on a movie(I believe Saving Private Ryan or something of similar score) and continued to increase the volume to the point where we could not hear even ourselves speak, drowned out by the sound of machine guns, bombs, and screaming. He sat at the bar with his back to us, at this point with no other patrons in the establishment, gripping the remote and aggressively increasing the volume. The waitress spoke not another word to us and only dropped off the check and picked up our money. It had been made abundantly clear that we were not welcome, due to religion, race, or general presentation I am not sure. This was the kind of experience that makes my skin hot… a reminder that there are nasty people in the world, not just in the news and on TV but owning businesses down the street, living in our neighborhoods. Maybe you will have a different experience here but know that when you do, there are others outside who are not welcome based on basic human demographic.

It is truly amazing to find a get dive bar, in the middle of downtown Milwaukee. I have been here a few times and I always have a great experience. What separates them from other bars are a few things. Their beer and liquor prices are cheap, really cheap. You can have a good time for under $ 40. The Bartenders are very friendly and love playing bar dice. They know what they are doing and stay busy but you always get great service. Another great thing about this place is the people at the bar, everyone makes you feel welcomed. It is a bigger testament about Wisconsin people in general, but this place you can come alone and spark a conversation with people on your left or right. I will becoming back to this place and recommend it to anyone looking for a happy hour special or a great bar to have a drink.

Love the bar. If you like real people, music on a jukebox, bar dice, Blatz, and a good breakfast, visit this bar. Classic dive bar. Twice the drink for a third the price. Similar to Pippins in Chicago.

The owners are super friendly and it’s a neat place to stop for a cocktail. You eat free on your birthday which is a plus and the drinks were tasty too for a good price!

I was in town for NM Annual Meeting. It was my second time this year in Milwaukee but I know I will be in Milwaukee again and for many years to come. I am glad I found my ‘go to’ place in Milwaukee. The bar on the sidewalk is awesome. I love how mellow it is. Down to earth people. Nothing pretentious about it at all. No need to dress fancy. But you know what was really cool? Three of us, three drinks, and it was only 20 bucks including a pretty good tip. I come from Los Angeles. That does not happen in LA. We sat for one drink each, and ended up having three before we left. And we came back again another night. So, I know I will be checking into my office again next time I go to Milwaukee, for sure! See you in October! ;-)

Got breakfast and beers, very affordable and homemade food prepared fresh and quickly! The owners, husband and wife, are so nice and friendly! If I lived in this area would definitely be a regular here! The Bloody Mary mix was made from scratch and VERY good, haven’t had really good Bloody Mary mix in awhile.

Great hole in the wall kind of bar. A nice little hangout place to get away from the other crazy bars. Music here is really random and a little loud. From rap to metal to reggae. They have Spotted Cow here on tap which is excellent! Bartender was very nice. Even thanked us for stopping in as we were leaving.

«Sorry, honey. I need to stay late at ‘My Office.’» You need to practice so that you can say it without the quotes and the capital letters. Because once you’re able to have a meeting at my office, being late will never be the same again. This little dive bar is nothing like the neighborhood around, which is plentiful with higher–(or at least medium-) end bars and restaurants. My Office keeps it simple with a scarred up bar, stools, a few tables, and a big stack of bottles of liquid to keep you occupied. Bartender was capable of pouring drinks and holding up a conversation. The barflies hanging around were more than polite to me, an outsider from nowhere near here. Not much for food available(picked egg, anyone?) but we’re just here for the booze thanks.

After a few more visits to My Office, I’ve gotta up it a star. It’s the perfect place to come later on a Friday or Saturday night when you want to end the night out in East Town without A) bros everywhere B) too loud music C) ridiculously-priced drinks. Really, it’s the little pool-room addition that keeps me coming back most of all. It’s been great for just 2 people or a whole group of friends to enjoy. Owner/bartender is extremely nice, and they don’t kick you out until the last possible second.

Padded elbow rests on the bar, low prices on beer and shots, neon signs, faux wood panelling, juke box(digital) and vintage advertising for everything from Bud Ice Draft to MGD… This is a bar. Pretty simple, and hitting all the required marks and doing it in the center of downtown Milwaukee. Suits and hipsters and service industry together. Conversations covering industry in the middle east alongside the most recent Killers album. I like this place.

Whenever I go to Milwaukee I stop in My Office. I feel at home there even though I am from Chicago. It will always be «My» Milwaukee«Office.» Great people go into this bar. I have never encountered a snob or a pretentious douchebag or douchette in the place. I hope things have not changed since I was last there.

Love the juxtaposition that«My Office» provides downtown Milwaukee with. Amongst a sea of bars and restaurants that take themselves WAY too seriously, this place is unabashed, unapologetic dive bar central. «My Office» seems to shout this fact from the rooftops of the oh-so-hip Milwaukee Street. Take that, you dimly-lit, overpriced havens of meh and mediocrity! Take that, you«look how cool we are when we make duckfaces at the camera while enjoying bottleservice» patrons! For that reason, you’d think that I would love it. And I want to love it. I really do. But as it stands now, I’m pretty meh about«My Office.» I think, sometimes, it’s just a vibe. You get a feeling. And this one didn’t sit right with me. Don’t get me wrong, I can belly up to the bar and await the arrival of a work meeting as well as anyone, but here? Something was off. No, it wasn’t just that I was the only female in the joint save for the super nice bartender. Maybe I just hit the place at the wrong time or something. Not sure. At any rate, I’ll give ‘em another go, as ideologically speaking, I’m totally a fan of this spot. Hopefully, next time around, I’ll fall in love.

My Office, besides having a great kitschy name, is really a tremendous little downtown dive. Picture this: you have some buddies in town. You don’t want to hang out in somebody’s apartment, because that just doesn’t feel right. You want to head out, catch up and B.S. with one another. You’re in Milwaukee, which means it is always acceptable to drink enough to float a small seaworthy vessel. You don’t want to spend a fortune, either. And if the game is on, you’d probably watch it. Then step right on in to My Office. Located near Cathedral Square, and much fancier bars such as Whiskey Bar and Hotel Metro, My Office fills a crucial roster spot for me downtown. There is music or television on, but it is a dull roar. There are always a couple tables available day and night, summer and winter. You can slip in, all five of you can sit down, and everybody can drink anything you want for what seems like 1980s prices. And you can carry on a conversation without music making you yell«Huh?! What?! Did you say she’s getting ‘married’ or ‘hairy’?!» into each other’s ears. The clientele is quite a bunch, with all walks of life finding their way inside. Because I often go there with a group of buddies, I like that everybody usually leaves everybody else alone. But I’d be lying if I said a regular hadn’t engaged me in a discussion about his aggressive drug use either. But that comes with the territory. They have a stack of take-out menus and invite deliveries. The front wall of the bar can open into a bar«patio» facing North Milwaukee Street, where, weather permitting, one can get around the smoking ban while still pretty much feeling like one is inside. I usually go to My Office as a way to open or wrap up an evening. Or if I know I have to buy a lot of people drinks. But suffice it to say, If this bar was anything like my actual office, I’d be a workaholic.

Not sure why this bar is not getting the love it deserves. I will agree it is a mismatch from the rest of the scene in downtown Milwaukee, but that’s not really a bad thing. A dive called My Office, I mean, how could I resist checking out this place? My buddy and I spent the day in downtown Milwaukee watching college football at the likes of such sports bars as Zim’s and Fanatic’s. Afterward, my friend, «the Mayor,» wanted to take me to Whiskey Bar, which I was excited to check out since I love my bourbon and scotch. When we arrived to Whiskey bar, there was a line and we found ourselves a little under-dressed for the situation. So we decided to turn back and saddle up to My Office. Upon arrival, we were greeted with open arms. I order 2 glasses of Woodford Reserve on the rocks(tall pours by the way) and low and behold, it was only $ 10 for the both of them. How can you not like a bar in any downtown setting with those prices? While questioning the price somewhat out loud to myself, a native and regular at the bar informed me that the price was indeed correct. Wow, that’s fantastic. From what I can tell, this bar draws a fun and eclectic crowd. Definitely a bar I could warm up to the bartenders and regulars. Unfortunately, it was getting late, and our energy subsided by the long day of festivities, so we had to go and crash. But not before crossing the street to grab a Polish from a hot dog vendor on the side walk(fantastic!). I definitely have this bar on my radar for my next trip up to Milwaukee!
