Four very fussy eaters walked into National Pizza and walked out completely satisfied. The Reuben pizza was superb, with just the right proportion of cheese to meat to sauerkraut. The classic cheese, sausage, mushroom, and onion pizza was as good as any I’ve had in the city. Our waitress was a delight, very accommodating. Yes, it is in the basement of a hotel, but it was clean and you could carry on a decent conversation. Located in the Heart of the City, it’s really on the way to wherever you might be going.

Their chef here definitely cooks with a passion! This was the first place where I got to experience Wisconsin food — their pizza is delicious! The cheese is real Wisconsin cheese and all the toppings I chose were amazing. It’s a great atmosphere to catch a game and meet friendly neighboring people!

Quite possibly one of the most rude bartenders I’ve ever encountered and possibly worst service. If you can even call her a bartender, Emily as I think she told one of the bar patrons she was friendly with. We are staying at the Best Western for the week and I was thrilled to find a bar/grill in the hotel. Easy right? Catch some Monday night football and get some food? Not likely. We sat at the bar which had plenty of available seats and was not busy by an means. We weren’t even greeted or acknowledged. Two separate groups of guys sat at the bar after we did and were not only greeted, they were served first. If I am correct, as my bartending/hospitality experience taught me or just basic human common decency, wouldn’t you greet every single person that comes into your work place that has the potential to leave you a 20−25% tip for good service? Maybe because we were an odd matched guy and girl traveling on business we didn’t fit the typical«guys who drink a lot and tip well cliché.» We clearly just wanted to eat dinner and not drink. Does that mean we aren’t typical patrons who should be treated respectfully? Or that we wouldn’t give you an appropriate tip… Or rather maybe we wanted to order a beer but decided not to based on your lack of personality or rather people skills. Thankfully I have a car and the ability to take my money and necessary tip to someone deserving. Very pathetic and disappointing. Silver lining and the only reason for 2 stars was the friendly cook who came to check on your food orders. Apparently he knows how to genuinely smile and care. Or at least pretend. Thanks but no thanks Emily.

Best pizza in Milwaukee! Calzone was delicious, and my wife ordered the Alfredo sauce hand tossed pizza. Little bit of a wait but more than worth it to get the freshest pizza in town! We are in town visiting and were told of this place. Great recommendation and would come back every time I visit Milwaukee. Might just come back just so I can eat here again!

Let me start off by saying that I don’t give out 5 stars a lot. I did however give a bonus star here because of the above and beyond service I received. Let me start off with the pizza. I had the hand-tossed, garlic crust pizza and it was really good. While there’s not a ton of unique pizza recipes out there, some places just miss the mark. Not here. It came out straight from the oven and had just the right amount of toppings and perfect crunch to the crust. I am thinking I’ll try the thin crust next time to test it out, but I have to say that the pizza was really good. My girlfriend and I had a Groupon for 2 drinks and a large pizza. Since we like different toppings they let us do half-and-half. Well when they brought out the pizza they apologized because the cook accidentally put all my toppings on both halves and they immediately started on a new one. While it was inconvenient to wait, no harm, no foul. Before pizza #2 came out the manager came over to apologize and informed us that the whole bill would be covered and we could use the Groupon the next time we came in! I already thought it was great enough that they gave us another full large to make up for the mistake, but this was really great customer service and I will definitely be going back. The venue is kinda hidden since it’s within a hotel, and the parking situation kinda sucks because the street signs make it seem like you only have 1hr if parking before 8pm on a weekday. Behind the building is a few parking spots, but again most have restricted signs, so I haven’t figured out the trick, aside from parking a block down the road and cutting through the alley. Inside they’ve got darts, a pool table, and a few video slot machines. There’s also a large back room too for when it starts to fill up. There’s ample tvs around the bar and a cool look to the venue overall.

We had heard good things about the burgers at Crazy Chef so we figured we would stop in and check this place out when they opened up. It is in the basement of the hotel, so expect dark and dingy. There was one bartender, and she seemed to know most of the locals. We sat down and ordered a couple drinks, but she couldn’t be bothered to answer questions about the menu. We got an order of nachos without meat, and they were BIG! The menu stated they only had a few things tossed on, so we figured it’d be a good starter, but they came loaded with a lot more. I wanted dinner(more than nachos) and noticed that there were three sizes of calzones on the menu. I asked her if the small was really that small, or if it was enough for a meal. She just said«no» and walked away. I just kind of sat there waiting for her to finish her sentence. She came back a minute later and said that all the calzones are the same size pretty much. Okay… I ordered a BYO«small» calzone for around $ 5.99 with sundried tomatoes, olives, feta cheese and spinach. It took about 20 minutes, and I just had it boxed up to take home. Locals were getting loud, drunk and rowdy and starting to make it a little overwhelming. I pointed out the Unilocal deal that with the purchase of an entrée you get a free tapper — she said she’d never seen that in her life… well here it is! She honored it. I didn’t actually end up eating the calzone until the next day — but wow! It truly was huge, and it was stuffed with ingredients. I like the idea of the dough being homemade, it being stuffed and baked to order. Even the next day it was a good meal — and we ended up splitting it and being full. If it weren’t for the awkward service, we’d be back based on the food!

I stopped in the establishment and was very impressed with the menu. I ordered a Swiss Mushroom hamburger medium rare. The burger came with fries. The reason I was impressed was the high grade of meat. The mushrooms were season just right. The burger reminded me of Elsa’s On The Park. Of course I did made a complement because I was very impressed. I had to go back 3 days later to get another Swiss and Mushroom. I traveled out in the cold on New Year’s Eve to get that delightful dinner. What a nice way to end 2014. The atmosphere is so laid back and the customers live in the area but since I didn’t live anywhere around there I still was welcome. Yes, I would highly recommend this delightful place.
