In reading all the previous reviews, we were a little leary about using our groupon for Paje’. Surprisingly, it wasn’t half bad. First off though, they should offer a wine, beer, & cocktail menu. We started off w the fried green tomatoes, which we both could have eaten more of. For entrees, I had the lobster Mac n cheese which was delicious. Update: ITISCLOSED!

I visited this restaurant on 6÷18÷13(my birthday), but dinner was far from a party. No one was there to greet us at the door, so we(my cousin and I) asked the bartender and waitress if we could seat ourselves. They both said yes. The waitress was very nice. I ordered the red velvet waffles & wings and my cousin ordered the chicken and dressing dinner. It took at least an hour for our food to be served. There was one couple in the restaurant and they left shortly after we ordered. Too long of a wait. Then two djs came in to set up for karaōke night, but no one else was there but my cousin and I. They started playing loud music while we talked. We were only given 10 – 15 minutes to eat our food before we were asked if we were done. I had only eaten two wings! My cousin thought she was getting chicken and dressing, not chicken in dressing. The drinks were taken off of the table in the process. My cousin asked for to-go boxes, but the waitress said they didn’t have any but she could wrap up our food. Our food was put onto paper saucers(small plates), wrapped in saran wrap, and put into a Pick N Save Bag. This place has beautiful decoration and layout. I hope they read these comments and make improvements. When I got home I tried the red velvet waffles… they tasted like red mud! My cousin said her food was pretty good.

After trying to go here several times with friends and them not being open when they were supposed to be, this place ended up a complete disappointment. With my Groupon expiring this weekend, I went again… finally they were open. To give them some credit, the staff was extremely welcoming. I ordered my food to go and they were gracious accepting the«dine in only» Groupon since they were closed previous occasions. I waited nearly an hour for my food however, and not one person offered me something to drink while I waited at the bar. I had ordered the shrimp and grits, fried green tomatoes, lobster mac and cheese, and the red velvet waffles and wings. About the only thing that was decent were the fried green tomatoes(even though they were supposed to come with dipping sauces which I was not given) – they were soggy, but being to-go and with melted cheese, it may have not been completely their fault. HOWEVER, I got lobster mac and cheese for $ 16 which had IMITATIONCRABMEAT. They should be embarrassed for serving that in a restaurant… and I’m not even completely sure the macaroni was not from a box… the wings were burned and came with no sauce at all… the«red velvet» waffles are just red from food coloring, no cocoa in them whatsoever and they had no other taste to them. Also had no butter or syrup in the to go box. The shrimp and grits were completely tasteless – except for butter. Maxie’s Southern Comfort far exceeds this place… they need to take more pride in what’s coming out of that kitchen. Far below par. I wouldn’t even have a drink there — they were out of everything or it was warm, a customer sent back wine(that not to mention the«bartender» doesn’t know how to use a wine opener) and he wanted to debate about something floating in it instead of just giving a new glass. Too much focus on the profit I think and not enough on gaining a stable customer base.

When we arrived the place was nearly empty, but we still waited for quite a while before anyone came over. Then they put a one page menu down that had the drinks, wines and food all listed on it… with no prices or description of what the food was. When I asked the price of the dish they brought over a dirty paper menu that had prices and descriptions on it. The waitress gave the explanation that they no longer used that menu because they didn’t have most of the items on it available. I ordered the wings and waffles, my husband got the cod and fries. Fifteen minutes later the waitress came back to inform us they didn’t have the cod. The food came out and it was greasy and not overly tasty. One of the wings had a pool of blood under it because it had not been cooked enough. Our friend had the shrimp and grits which were soupy and tasted mainly of butter and nothing else. The service and food were both sub par. Save your money and time and don’t go there. We won’t be visiting again.

Great food! I went on a Thursday evening at 6:00pm in mid March’2013. The other reviews do not compare with my experience. I enjoyed the food. Service, atmosphere, and food preparation was excellent. Prices were also reasonable. My husband, Mike also enjoyed his meal. We will be back again soon.

Like other reviewers, we purchased a $ 40 Groupon, and given we live only a few blocks away, decided to try it. My Girlfriend is from West Virginia, so the idea of grits and fried green tomatoes sounding very appealing. From the moment we got there, we felt out of place. We brought our 2 year old daughter, and were surprised to find they did not have a high chair, nor did they have a kids menu, so this is definitely not a child friendly place, more on that in a second. We sat down, ordered a few High Life’s, and at the same time ordered their wings for an appetizer, and a fried chicken sandwich with a aide of fries and yams for our two year old. W e would have ordered the fried green tomatoes, but were told they were out of season. Most restaurants that serve seasonal food also have a seasonal menu. Given the lack of overall menu items anyway, when our server mentioned they were out a few items, it really reduced our menu options. It took about 15 minutes for our beers to arrive, and then took another 40 minutes before we saw any food on our table. All told, we waited about an hour for our initial appetizer and plate for our daughter. Not cool if you have a hungry 2 year old. The wings were very bland, not sauced, and not even close to what the menu described. My daughters chicken sandwich was a bone-in breast on a soggy bun with lettuce and tomatoes. No mayo or ketchup were brought out for the sandwich or fires. That was a little surprising, but even more so is that they would serve a fried piece of bone-in chicken on a sandwich like that, let alone, to a toddler. The chicken was pretty tasty though, but it didn’t make up for the wait, or the general issues with having a gone-in piece of meat on a sandwich. While we were waiting for our appetizer and sandwich we put an order in tor our meals — TOGO. My girlfriend ordered the shrimp and grits and I ordered the Chicken and Stuffing. I was told when they were about ready to bring us our food that they were out of dressing, and they were going to sub Mac and Cheese, which for a person who has lactose issues, that wasn’t a good option. So they gave me yams and greens, which is what my meal was supposed come with anyway. After waiting another 30 minutes for our food, we finally were out the door with our food. Once we got home, I would like to say we were surprised, but after being jacked around for the past 130 minutes, nothing about this restaurant should come as a surprise. The Shrimp and Grits smelled horrible. They grits were supposed to be seasoned with ‘special seasoning,’ and the shrimp were supposed to be grilled cajun shrimp. The grits were described as tasting like microwave grits with no flavor, let alone seasoning, and the shrimp were fried popcorn shrimp. Anyone from the south would have done what my girlfriend did — throw the crap in the trash. Plus we found shells in the grits. hmmm. My dish wasn’t much better. There was no gravy, and as I said before, there was no dressing. The greens were horrible, and really, I could have done without the yams. Even our two year old didn’t like the yams. I know I have written some negative reviews about other places. but this may be the worst food and dining experience ever. Our server was nice, and tried to make it up to us with a few free beverages, but waiting for close to 2 yours for food, and not having the food be any good just sucks. It’s sad, because I was hoping this would be a good joint for our neighborhood, but it just sucks. STAYAWAY, and tell your friends.

I recently bought a Groupon for Paje, so my husband and I thought Saturday night would be a great night to try this new restaurant. To be honest, I was a little worried after reading the previous Unilocal reviews! Overall, the food was good. Unfortunately, they were out of both the lobster mac and cheese and the fried green tomatoes, so I don’t think I got a really good menu sampling. I had the shrimp and grits and my husband had the fried chicken wings and french fries. His dish was really good and mine was ok – I definitely prefer Maxie’s shrimp and grits any day of the week! The service was much improved based on the previous reviews, in fact, I think the pendulum has swung in the completely opposite direction. We were asked about 10 times how we were doing, if we needed anything else, etc. This place was ok, and if I got again, hopefully they have the full menu available!

I agree with others. The service is incredibly slow but the food is delicious. The first time I came here on a Sunday, we waited about an hour for our food. They were very apologetic and explained that they were short staffed. The fried green tomatoes were delicious and the creamed spinach really stood out in my mind but the wait was a turnoff. I decided to give it another shot when they put a groupon out and was slightly disappointed again as they no longer have a menu on Sunday but serve soul food dinners only. They should update their facebook page and website better. We arrived at 11:30 and they were completely out of greens and we were told the baked chicken would take an hour so we ordered smothered pork chops(which were the best I ever had). However, again, it took at least 45 minutes and ordering took longer as they had no print out and the waiter did not know the menu items by heart and had to keep stopping to run back to the kitchen to ask questions. We also ordered a to go of two dinners and they forgot the cornbread. Bottom line… the food is very good but the service is questionable. I hope they stay around but my opinion is that I can’t go back again unless I have a good 2 hours that I’m trying to waste…

THEONLYREASONTHISMERITSONESTARISTHATMRDYESPIESWEREGIVINGFREESAMPLESOFTHEIRDELICIOUSHOMEMADEPIES. CHECKHIMOUTONFACEBOOK. OTHERWISE, Ha! This place is an absolute joke. Typically, I am very nice and compassionate with my ratings. This place does not merit any type of compassion. I bought a groupon for this place, and decided to take a gamble on a new Southern Comfort-type of restaurant. I lost that gamble. We made a reservation, and arrived to Paje. Following was literally the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. There was no host, so we waited a couple of minutes before a person who was eating, got up, and sat us right by the door when there was ¼ of the entire restaurant filled. No biggie, so even if it was cold, we shrugged that off. It took 15 – 20 minutes before a server came and took our drink order(beer and martini) and an order of Fried Green Tomatoes. Followed by the order, it took 15 minutes for me to get my beer, and the bartender did not know how to make a martini, so asked if my girlfriend would like wine, she agreed. Took another 15 minutes before I went up to the bar and asked for the glass of wine. The server said sure, and then, it took 10 minutes before the server came back and said that the cork fell in the white wine, would you like red instead? Yes, sure, fine. We are now at 45 minutes of being in the restaurant before I tracked down the server and asked if the order of appetizers was coming. He said I’m not sure. I asked can we put in our actual order. After placing our actual order, it was now an hour and 20 minutes, we ordered another round of drinks, but never received them. Never got our appetizers, and decided to cancel our order and leave. Never got any sort of recognition or indication of when our food was coming or if the order had been placed. Furthermore, there were 2 other couples that never got to place their order after sitting there for about 45 minutes, they got up and left as well. This place was an absolute disaster. I was really looking forward to having some Soul Food, but this place utterly tanked in every department. Do yourself a favor and do not give this restaurant a try. Normally, I will give a restaurant a second shot, but this was absolutely embarrassing. Really thought I was on MTV’s Boiling Points, and was being played the entire time. Nope.

Lots of potential, but I’m not quite sold yet. Service was molasses style slow. I wasn’t in the mood for their menu when I was there, but tried the Red Velvet Waffles. It came out cold and it wasn’t anything too special other than red. I’m not sure if they want to be a high end restaurant or night club or what. I’ll give them another try though.
