Do you ever just go, «Yeah! I want some Mexican food!» Because I do that quite a bit. If you ever find yourself feeling like that or screaming it in public, this place will satisfy that sudden outburst of wanting Mexican cuisine. This little Mexican spot will be all you ever wanted. It’s not much to look at, being just a small ordering area and a tiny cheap looking dining area, but don’t let that fool you. This is a beautiful beautiful place. This was my first time here, and it won’t be my last. Most of the meals were under $ 9, and they were meals with beans, rice and your choice of tacos, tostadas, burritoes, tamales and all the other Mexican dishes you’re used to. You can also order things individually for $ 2 or less. You really can’t beat the prices or the amount of food you get. If you wanna be more adventurous, they have tripe and beef tounge tacos. The waitress girl let me try a tripe taco, which was super nice of her and it was actually really good, as was the beef tounge and chicken tacos. The tamale tasted like a good tamale, I’ve never really had a bad one in my life though. Everything I ate was just perfection, and I loved how there was no gimmick or anything. It was just a nice little Mexican place that sells good authentic Mexican food that makes you happy. If this place was a movie, it would star Leonardo Decaprio, because he doesn’t choose bad roles, and it would win an Oscar. This place is delicious. Go here. You know you want a taco, so get one, you won’t regret it.

Small, inexpensive, messy, and absolutely delicious tacos. Service is always quick so you can walk in with a few bucks and walk out with a small bag of hot, fresh, incredible tacos.

Delicious! We will be back! My husband and I split the chicken taco dinner, you get 3 nice size tacos and rice and beans. We also split the nachos supreme. We couldn’t finish it all. Oh how could I forget the horchata! I want to try the chimichangas.

I have had three menu items from here in the past two months. Each time they were very friendly and helpful. The food comes up quickly and it’s hot, fresh, and very tasty. The prices are good as well.

I have been to many«authentic» mexican restaurants and being used to my mom’s cooking all have fallen short. I hesitantly tried out this place since my husband was craving mexican and i was pleasantly surprised. I had the mini chimichangas dinner and they are the best i have ever had. I also ordered a single tamale which unfortunately was not very good. It was mushy and falling apart as well as tasteless. My husband ordered the pork burrito ahogado and a single taco al pastor which he promptly devoured. I was also impressed with the salsas they offered. The spicy creamy green salsa was spicy enough and the best out of all three. I would definetly go back for the chimichangas although i will have to try more items on the menu before i would vouch for this taqueria.

Having just moved from Southern California my husband and I were looking for our go to Mexican comfort food restaurant. We were not disappointed. You order and pay for your food first and then it gets delivered to your table. We went during the weekend and it was a bit crowded but that only goes to show how good the food was. I also really liked how there was multiple salsa selections. We ordered menudo but it didn’t come with hominy which was a bit different but it was still delicious.

Woke up from a 5 hour nap & I wanted tacos. Turned to my handy dandy Unilocal app. Because I’m UBER picky, I called in advance to see if the chicken tacos were made from chicken breast. They answered YES… SCOOOOORE!!! When I placed my order the lady asked me if I mind waiting a little longer as they had ran out of chicken. Noooo problem! She gave me some chips while I waited. Thanks… appreciate the hospitality! Only had to wait about 10 minutes before my order was ready. Sweet! Grab the order & head home! Get home & unwrap my tacos. They look good & the taste was better! Well seasoned & loaded w/onions, sour cream, lettuce, & cilantro. I used to drive all the way home(Chicago) for authentic tacos but I have found a reputable place. Its a dive but don’t be intimidated. You won’t be disappointed!

Hands down the best traditional Mexican food I’ve had in Milwaukee. Everything we’ve ever ordered is fantastic.(My goto is the mole.) No bells; no whistles; no giant pepper to ride(whoops). Just a «dive-y» taqueria with damn good food, REALLY nice people and some beer too. An absolute Milwaukee must.

Great service. From taking your order to the service you get when eating in the restaurant was all great. Food wasn’t really good. Chicken taco and quesadilla were a bit on the bland side. The quesadilla had a ton of cheese but not much good flavor. The pork taco was ok. More flavorful but a bit too salty. Chips and the pico they give you for free when dining in is very good. The pico de gallo has a nice kick and is very flavorful. I had high expectations for this place as most of the patrons were also Mexican.

I’d been wanting to check out the Taqueria Buenavista storefront for a bit, especially after trying their truck in Bay View. The other reviews are correct — it’s a tiny, divey place but the food is very good and it’s cheap. It looks like most people do take-out(because the dining room is clean, but very utilitarian) but we opted to eat in. You order and pay at the counter and they’ll bring you your food along with chips and a few salsas. I liked all the salsa choices, especially the creamier green one and the squeeze bottle red. Because it’s a taqueria, I ordered… tacos, duh. A dinner of 3 chicken tacos, rice and beans was something like $ 8 so a really good deal. My tacos were really tasty, not oily and something I’d happily get again. FYI — you can get beer here, but no margaritas. Staff is very friendly and helpful too.

Tonight I visited an old friend I hadn’t seen in a while… Taqueria Buenavista. I’m not sure why we stopped spending time together, but I sure am glad I bumped into you. On the menu for our dinner tonight was the Chicken Nacho Supreme and two Smothered Steak Burrito dinners(one verde and one red). The nachos were superb and traveled well. They are some of the best in the city. The chicken meat was moist and tender, and the topping to chip ratio is just right, Also, they are not skimpy on the jalapenos! The steak burrito dinners rocked too! They are huge. I can only eat half of one, but that’s okay, now I have breakfast for tomorrow. I ordered mine with verde sauce, my personal favorite. The verde has just the right amount of tang from the tomatillos, and they put plenty on top. My husband ordered the red sauce. His was was a bit greasy from the sauce, but the flavor of the red sauce really added to the burrito. It was not hot, but it had good spice. A quick blot from a paper towel and we were ready to go. I like that they package the side of lettuce and tomatoes separately, as I do love to top my burrito with it. It great that it’s not wilted by the time I get it home, Heck a girls got to get her veggies in somehow… tomatoes, lettuce, and jalapenos… check. As mentioned in other reviews, the dining room is real small and you order at the counter. I prefer to call my order in ahead of time and just pick up. If you haven’t been, stop in and say«hi» to my old friend. You won’t be sorry you did.

I’ve been looking for a good Mexican food place for quite a while in the Milwaukee area, one that i didn’t feel questioned walking into, and one you don’t have to plan on spending $ 13 on each entrée and $ 7 on chips. This is the place. Good portions, the food is very good and made to order. The people that work up front are quite nice and they have the real sugar coke which is a huge deal for me. the dining area is kind of small with maybe 8 tables and the two times i’ve been there it has been pretty busy which is a good sign. Great place if you’re craving mexican food without having to pay a ton of money. I claimed this place to be twice as good as Su Casa for half the price. So i know where i’ll be going for Mexican food from now on.

This review is for their Tacos. I haven’t had anything else yet, but I plan to try more menu items in the future. Overall, the tacos are just OK. You can skip the Steak and al Pastor tacos — the meat was really dry. The steak was more like ground steak, and I didn’t see any rotating spit for the al pastor, so it’s probably hard to keep moist otherwise. HOWEVER, the lengua(beef tongue) tacos were absolutely delicious. They tasted similar to steak, but were wayyy better than the actual steak tacos. If you dine in, you get some chips and salsa which are really good too. I like the dark green tomatillo salsa the best.

Milwaukee’s Best Carne Asada Burrito!!! The Carne Asada Burritos are HUGE! You can get them with rice & re-fried beans and I suggest you do so, not all re-fried beans taste like they’re out of a can, these are homemade and delicious! They have Mexican Coke in a bottle, my weakness when I am having a cheat meal, because it has NO High Fructose Corn Syrup just good old fashioned sugar, like the Coke we had when we were kids. They also have a yummy horchata, if you don’t know what that is, I feel sorry for you, haha jk but you must try it because it is delicious! There isn’t a very big parking lot & only about 6 tables inside but we went on a Friday night around 7 and we got a table. :)

Really love the value here. Prices are on par with Taco Bell, but the food is so much better. If you dine in, you get free chips and salsa. I prefer to order tacos with just onion and cilantro…

Two words: AWYIS. Just down the road from my house nestled into an unassuming storefront you can smell the steak sizzling and the tortillas toasting. Simple procedure of ordering at the counter and they bring out your food. Probably only 10 – 14 tables in the small dining room, and it clearly hasn’t had a new coat of paint in a while. None of that matters when you get your food. They offer pop and beer selection as well which is nice. I ordered a shredded beef burrito and Joe got a chicken one. They both came with rice and beans, and while many may say that mexican refrieds are just what they are… these were seriously awesome. I loved the rice and beans here. The burrito was big and toasted which was great, and everything was made to order. The salsa they bring you was clearly fresh and chunky with a healthy kick, and the three sauces they bring out are nicely balanced too. This is going to be trouble for me and my wallet, that’s for sure!
