Horrible Hot dog and NOT Vienna. Horrible Polish that shows pictures of grilled onion but they don’t offer that. Put Hot peppers on the guy in line w us hot dog, after asking for none and the guy told him to just take them off and refused to make him a new one. A horrible representation of Chicago anything, service also! Wow never again

The best cheese curds that I’ve ever had hands down. The Chicago and Wisconsin dogs are on point and I love the variety of toppings that you’re able to choose from. I’ve been going there for years and don’t plan to stop anything soon!

I used to take the bus to work past the flagship Dogg Haus while it was still in the process of being built. I watched the progress on the space, and was really excited to see«Hot Dogs,» «Italian Beef,» and«Coming Soon» written in the soaped windows in the weeks leading up to the grand opening. So, when they opened, I was the second customer through the door, and the first one to actually buy anything. The first day, I ordered an Italian Combo sandwich(Italian beef and Italian sausage with mozzarella), and a classic Chicago Dogg. I was immediately impressed. I’d had both of them many times over at the sort of places in Chicago that claimed to have invented them. Al’s, Portillo’s, etc. And The Dogg Haus versions were NOTMESSINGAROUND. The beef was sliced thin, the au jus perfectly spiced, and the sausage was to this day the best I’ve ever had. And the portion size! Especially for the price, it’s a hell of a sandwich. The Dogg was just as awesome. It’s a true Chicago-style — Steamed poppyseed bun, onions, celery salt, nuke-green relish, mustard… And of course an all-beef Vienna dog that snapped when you bit into it. Before I was even done, I was not only forced to admit that The Dogg Haus might actually do Chicago dogs better than, well… CHICAGO, but I’d already started looking forward to my next trip back. And it wasn’t long. I came back as often as I could after that. The food was always spot-on, and the service never failed to be prompt and friendly. Most of the time, the staff even remembered my order, and started putting it together as soon as I walked in the door. So it was with great satisfaction that I watched as more and more people discovered the place, causing Dogg Hauses to pop up all over town. I felt a small swell of hipster cred that I’d gotten there first, but I was still happy that others loved it as much as I did. Then the awards started rolling in. Shepherd«Best of Milwaukee» every year since opening. Travel blogs putting the place on top-ten lists. Accolade after accolade. Location after location, all justifying my initial assessment. And still, never a single step missed on the food, or the service, no matter when I went in. Simply put, The Dogg Haus is a treasure. I don’t live in Milwaukee anymore since my job takes me all over the country, but Milwaukee is still home. And whenever I’m back, The Dogg Haus is a must-stop. It’s not a trip home without it. Because I’ve TRIED to eat at other places that claim to have«Authentic Chicago Beef and Dogs» wherever I am, and at best, they land somewhere in the neighborhood. The only place that NAILS it? Here. And even though I only get in once or twice a year at most, I’ll be damned if the staff doesn’t still remember my order. See you soon!

Sorry, did not like the beefs, or the Polish sausage. Nothing like Chicago. Couldn’t taste the hot dog. Too much condiments on it. The fries were weak and the nacho cheese was way too watered down.

Worth a drive no matter where you live. I’ve only had the Chicago hot dog with fries and I love it. Not all hot dog’s are created equal…

Great variety hot dogs. This place needs to expand in Illinois and Indiana. One of the best hotdog stands I have been too and this place is packed with all of the bars nearby. They have several locations where you can avoid the drunks.

Yum with a side of yum! Hands down — best cheese curds in town. This is WI so don’t even pretend to not like deep fried cheese. Also, the Wisconsin dogg is on point!

Don’t trust anyone who says this place doesn’t do a proper Chicago hot dog. I’m from the Chicago area and grew up with a nasty hot dog habit — and this place MORE than pulls its weight. Anyone who tries to write this place off is just being a pretentious hot dog elitist(the worst kind of elitists.) They’ve got the Vienna beef and the ingredients to back it up, you fools. I’ve been here plenty of times at all hours of the day and have always gotten a delicious dog(or 3) quickly and cheaply. Fries are salty and on point. Think I might go get a hot dog now actually. 10⁄10WOULDCONSUMETUBEDMEATSAGAIN.

Great hot dogs, but probably not worth the higher than average prices. I got a Chicago style hot dog with a seasoned bun, hot dog, onions, relish, jalapeños, and mustard(don’t even think about putting ketchup on a Chicago style hot dog). It was great, but I feel like it should not have cost more than $ 3.

I liked it – the Chicago dog had nice peppers and relish. The dogs themselves weren’t that flavorful, and the buns were too soft for my taste, but the service was quick and friendly. It’s right in our East Town neighborhood, so we will likely be back.

The bad: The store layout is awful. In order to fill your cup at the soda fountain, you often have to lean around another customer while they’re ordering or paying. The store’s décor can mostly be described as «confused», with both a mirrored disco ball and a print of «Men Eating Lunch on Skyscraper». The store also frequently has the music inside cranked up quite high, making ordering difficult and conversation uncomfortable. The good: The Dogg Haus is open late, which allows me to satisfy my late-night cravings. They have a pretty good variety of different types of sausage to order. I typically go straight for the hot dogs, but it’s nice to know where to get a brat in the middle of winter if the need strikes me. There’s a decent variety of toppings. Their chili, while not great, is also not nearly the worst that I’ve had. The cheese is actual cheese, rather than the nacho goo that some places offer. Given that I actually enjoy nacho goo, I’m not sure that this is personally a plus, but I know that most of my fellow Wisconsinites would appreciate it. Overall I’m going to continue going here for my hot dog needs, but I’ll be mildly grumpy about the bad layout and loud music while I’m buying my sausage.

A good friend of mine likes Dogg Haus a lot, and often tries to drag me there when I’m not really in the mood for a hot dog. To be completely honest, I do enjoy a good hot dog, but the Dogg Haus strikes me as average. As any good hot dog stand/shop should be, the use of quality franks is a good sign. Vienna Beef is a solid choice. I ordered a Chicago dog and, while it was accurate, I wasn’t particularly blown away. It seems that they like to heat up their franks in a hot water bath, because I couldn’t tell how they had cooked them. Their Polish isn’t bad either, but again, I didn’t feel particularly great after eating it. Not that I felt sick, but it was just food I shoved into my mouth, not any kind of special experience. Service is fast, reliable, and the staff don’t seem too disgruntled. Prices are fair for Vienna Beef. A place to stop by if you’re a fan of hot dogs, but I don’t think you’ll be blown away, especially if you’ve lived in Chicago or at least experienced some of Chicago’s best hot dog stops.

Since I’m originally from Chicago, a hot dog is more than just a hot dog to me. Sadly this might be the best hot dog in Milwaukee, or at least the cheapest and most convenient. They do get props for using vienna beef hot dogs. Those are the best quality, but man did my excitement stop there. It honestly didn’t taste like anything I couldn’t make at home. It was your average steamed poppyseed bun and dog. The dog wasn’t made to order so who knows when it had been cooked, and I was bummed they didn’t have sautéed onions. At least it was cheap! I can def see this place being a nice drunken late night snack, but as far as representing the Chicago hot dog, I wasn’t impressed.

I hadn’t been to Milwaukee in two summers but I remembered how amazing The Dogg Haus was and made it my first stop after the bar on Friday night. While they are known for their dogs the cheese curds are my favorite. They seem to have a sweeter breading than others, almost remind me of what it would be like if normal cheese curds met up with a funnel cake. I suppose they might not be quite that sweet but they definitely have a little something special to them. All of the dogs I have gotten have been very good; this place is fantastic post-bar food, I recommend it.

I just saw her drop fries which were already fried. So nasty. Please train the staff to not do that. I pay good money for this food so don’t feed me garbage.

There’s a few questions I usually ask myself before I end up in Dogg Haus. What time is it? Can I really stand another slice from Pizza Shuttle? How many shots did I just take? No matter the question, Dogg Haus has always been the right answer for me. They’re quick, they’re cheap, they’re delicious, and they’re open late. Their dog(g?)s are solid, and are made however the hell you want. The service is super fast, and when the night gets rolling, the staff just gets funnier and happier from my experiences. Still my favorite late-night place in Milwaukee. A staple, if you must.

The staff has earned themselves all four of those stars, dealing as they do with late-night drunks and crazies. Every time I’ve been there, they have been polite, happy, and put up with shenanigans without hesitation or hostility. On top of that, THEYHAVEVEGGIEDOGS. I’ve never had a real hot dog and am not interested in breaking that streak at this time. So when I was starving at 1am and saw veggie dogs on the menu? I wanted to kiss everyone in there. They are delicious plain, but also smothered in the fantastic toppings available. Do not even start me on the cheese curds. I am a cheese curds freak and these are the best I’ve had ever. That’s a pretty serious statement, probably slightly affected by my inebriation at the time, but I stand by it. Guys, go here if you’re in the area. It will be worth it.

It was midnight on a Friday, I needed something to nosh, and The Dogg Haus was plenty happy to keep the lights on to serve the East Side drunks. Hot dog places shouldn’t be so difficult of a concept, but a lot of places screw it up by over-thinking.This is not one of those places: three stools inside and just enough room at the counter to get what you want, scarf it down, and go on your way. It was a Chicago dog for me. It looked and tasted exactly like it should have. The fries were pale and a little underdone, but were good enough for the late hour. I finished eating and headed back to the bars.

As with the two locations in «downtown», this Dogg Haus has the same menu and is quite small on the inside. But the hot dogs are ready to rock and roll, as long as you can figure out what it is that you want. I’d recommend the Wisconsin Dog, and as you might expect, it arrives loaded with cheese, cheese and more cheese. And I’m not exaggerating, it has three different cheese on it! Nice tables outside where you can people watch.

I don’t eat meat anymore… except for fish and shellfish.(Because I feel like they don’t really have a lot of feelings so I don’t feel as bad as I do when I’m eating a cow or chicken or whatever. Friend in nyc: «right, because those lobsters never scream in pain when they get thrown in boiling water.» What-ever, haters. Ok, so maybe I honestly can’t imagine going for long without sushi and somewhere in the back of my mind Samuel Jackson a la Pulp Fiction is always saying«a pig is a filthy animal» everytime I see a pile of pulled pork.) Wait, where was I? Right, explaining why I was getting a veggie dog on Brady street. I think my complete amino acid profile is getting low or something… So I’ve passed by this place for years. I’d only once visited the one on Wisconsin ave prior. I finally stopped in a couple weeks ago. Aaaaand, its pretty good! You can get your hot dog, polish sausage, brat, italian sausage, veggie dog,(sadly I think they are chorizo-less) done up with all kinds of toppings. You can make your own combos or they have a bunch already done up, most named for cities(the Atlanta, Memphis, Santa fe etc). You can get various other meats added on top of the dog, and they have separate options for italian beef etc. Sides include cheese curds, fries, etc. I got«the wisconsin» which had three kinds of cheese. The buns are perfectly steamed and nice and pillow-y. Its just a hole in the wall with a counter with stools but in summer they put tables out on the street.
