Really disappointed in the management at Ugly’s. I had been working for 3 weeks to plan a corporate event on their rooftop for young professionals(dealing with very unresponsive emails), and 6 days before the event they announce they will now be charging a $ 2,000 /hour rental fee in addition to food/drink services. That is $ 33/minute! We will NOT be using Ugly’s for events from our company in the future.

If you like rap go here. Remember it’s Milwaukee; meaning that this place is appropriately lit given the setting. Drinks are moderately priced. Crowd is diverse, staff is friendly. The multiple floors allow for some fun that you can escape from if necessary

I went to Uglies for the first time last night with a bachelorette party. It was only our 2nd stop of the night and the biggest disappointment. One of the bartenders was so incredibly rude. I went up to the bar off the dance floor on the main floor, the bartender waited on every single person before me and then finally when he got to me he said«are you with the bachelorette party?» I told him yes and then he told me one of the other girls in the group gave him attitude and he is refusing to serve anyone in that group. After some back and forth, he told me I can find a different bartender and if I have issue with that, he would have the whole group escorted out. So I needed to go to a whole different part of the bar to find another bartender to get myself a beer. Simply put rude staff, that cannot handle being in the service industry.

They really nailed the naming of this place. I never need to come here again. Perhaps it’s just not my vibe, that’s almost certainly true, but there’s no real excuse for poor service and bad attitudes. If you get here in the early afternoon, there actually is a nice rooftop, if you can find a spot, but don’t plan on sticking around long. The service was curt at best and the roof bar bartender would disappear regularly for significant periods of time. The patrons up there could have run amok and no one would have known. Tip: Servers are most responsive to low-cut shirts. Even the female ones. Later in the evening, some people had apparently reserved a section of the rooftop(good for them) but the staff had no idea how to handle this. They let people sit in the reserved section, and then dilly-dallied around asking people to move for about an hour when the group arrived, and I’m under the impression that they tried to make up for their incompetence with trays of free shots. Because really drunk, PO’d girls are waaaaay better than just slightly drunk annoyed girls. Late into the night there’s some serious dancing happening inside. They definitely put the Ugh in Ugly’s.

This place is a joke. I wouldn’t even let my dog eat in this poor establishment. Do yourself a favor and go to the next bar/restaurant

Went for brunch on Sunday, one of the worst experiences we’ve ever had in Milwaukee. There were maybe 5 others in the bar/restaurant, all of which were drinking rather than ordering food. Ordered a couple bloodies, mimosa, and coffee to start, which took forever. Then we order food, which is where the problems really started. After 40 min of waiting for our food(5 people in the bar other than our party of 4), we had to ask what the wait was, no legitimate response by our waitress. Finally she brings out two plates, then after 10 minutes, the last two were served. Unfortunately my wife’s plate came out last, but was 100% incorrect. The waitress stated she could eat it for free or wait for a reorder. She choose to eat what she actually ordered and waited. The reorder took ANOTHER40 min(we’re also talking a simple omelette here folks). In short, we went for brunch 2 hours before a show at the PAC, and had to leave before we even received an accurate order. The manager made a feeble attempt at an excuse, which didn’t help… Such a joke of a place…

Wouldn’t let me in because I was wearing Nike brand Michael Jordan shoes.($ 150 shoes). Also my beanie cap was an issue. And since it was 26 degF out I of course disagreed. DONOTGOHERE!!! I would rate 0 stars if I could.

I’m not from Milwaukee, I was only here to visit. So I’m comparing Ugly’s to bars/clubs that I frequent at home(Baltimore) and with my expectation of what a night out in MKE would be like. And liquor also helped paint my picture lol My one and only complaint was that the ATM and computer system was down. I wish that security told us that at the door because we had to leave to get cash across the street at the piano bar. But once back in, we had an amazing time. Three floors of dancing and drinking, omg. That reminded me of my college days in Bmore. The music changed from floor to floor, along with the crowd and heat level lol. First floor was most crowded with all up to date top 100 hip hop music. Second floor less crowded with up to date but alternative hip hop music. Top floor idr because we spent that time outside on the deck cooling off. It’s nice that you can still get the outdoor feel from the top floor without being out in the cold since they have it covered and heated. The bathrooms were clean and everyone was friendly. If I ever find myself back in the city, I’ll be back there.

Meh the place was ok. Certainly not the hip place it was billed as but just a bar. I will say the happy hour specials served til 7pm is a great deal. $ 3 for any of the tap selections and 2 for 1 wine and cocktails along with reduced pricing on selected apps. Friendly place to come if your off to the Bradley center. Metered street parking and blocks from the stadium make this worth a stop. The part I didn’t get was the SLOW as HELL kitchen. Ordered cheese curds when the place was empty and the bartender went to check on them twice and came back without them. Seriously 40 minutes before we got them. It’s not rocket science put the things in the fryer for 2 minutes and plop them on a plate. So if ur in a hurry before a game or concert order early and mention you are heading to an event(not that it will help and didn’t in my case). Entrees also took another 40 minutes to come out which we ordered once the curds finally came. And the place was still not very busy. The food was pretty good though once it arrived. I recommend the veggie burger although I would have gotten it on a bun if I had know it didn’t normally come that way(I wanted a ugly branded bun dammit). I would like to come back in the summer and checkout the rooftop but nothing else will bring me runnin back.

Countless times my friends and i have been rejected at the door because of our shoes. If youre wearing a pair of Jordans they will not let you in. They wont let you in with athletic shoes either. Every other bar allows you in regardless of what youre wearing but this place is ridiculous. The one time we got in it was nice but super crowded. Maybe ill give it more stars one day when i can start wearin my jordans and actually get into the bar. Otherwise ill keep taking my business elsewhere. Dont waste your time unless you got loafers or somethin.

The cheese curds were awesome! Our server was great too. The rest of food was typical bar food.

Awesome bar! Glad we stopped here before the Comedy Café to get food. We also both got a beer and the bartender was very cool and let us get the happy hour deal even though it just ended. He also warned me that the Chili was spicy but I said I liked spicy and I do… Wow! He was not kidding. I just ordered a bowl of their Chili and it was the spiciest I have ever had ! My boyfriend had a bite agreed it was good and said it had that slow burn. The more I ate the hotter it got! My eyes were watering and then I got super giggly. I could not stop laughing about the Chili.(I finished it) and my beer but wow it was hot! Boyfriend really enjoyed the sandwich he had here as well. It was not very crowded in here but it was still early and I liked the atmosphere of the place. Dark lighting. Had that garage window look which was cool.

I was here the other night on a Friday, while looking for somewhere to hang out for a little bit while I charged my phone. This did the trick, as I was able to do that on their 2nd floor by the couch and bathrooms. I got a shot of rumple mint for $ 5…the size is that of a Peptobismol cap. I also got a $ 4 beer(not bad). First impression of the place: I was carded at the door & there was a line to get in… I understand being ID’d but then there was a 2nd bouncer who did the same thing and was rude about it. He shined his flashlight at my already checked ID(I don’t understand the logic) while I was walking into the place, he literally elbowed into me to do this. Of course it was crowded like most places in that area are in that time & place… I went up the stairs to check out the next level and it felt like a very chill hang out kind of vibe. It reminded me of being in somebody’s basement; their was 2 guys &2 girls playing beer pong and a small bar when you first walk in. I like the couches being there to relax on with your drink. Next up, I decided to see what the 3rd floor was all about. It was packed up there as well, not quite as much as the 1st floor though… it’s also more spaced out as it is an open space vs. downstairs it was darker and more jam packed. People weren’t the friendliest, didn’t meet anybody & nobody made any conversation with me, and I was by myself. So that’s my take on the place! Don’t see myself making a return visit for any particular reason, except to maybe try their food!

Major NYE disappointment, not to mention false advertising. If you say you’re going to do a theme night, you do a theme night. Don’t advertise a 1920’s, 1990’s, and futuristic bash and then just give us the same old«oontz oontz oontz» music and zero décor on every level. The 1920’s lounge vibe? Nonexistent! The 1990’s feel? Also nonexistent? And the futuristic atmosphere? Honey, if that’s the future, I’m scared(though I do hope we have good bartenders like that gentleman in the future; he was top notch and perhaps the only good thing about last night’s NYE fest). Then there was the crowd… oh Lord. I felt like I was on the set of Jersey Shore. So much hair gel. So very much hair gel. And a douchey guy on the dance floor touching his nipples all night. Gross. It did give me one more NYE resolution, though: no more hanging out in douche bars. Or douche clubs. Ain’t nobody got time for that shit.

A good time was had by all! This was our first stop on our bar-hoppin’ quest, and it was a strong way to begin! We sat at the bar and were there in time for happy hour, which worked well for my guy– all draft beers were $ 3, so he got a good craft option very cheap! I wasn’t in a beer mood and was less than impressed with the other options– both were 2 for 1 drink choices with mixed drinks or wine. I only wanted one drink! That didn’t help me out at all. I settled on their version of a mule which was made with rum. I didn’t taste any difference between that and a vodka mule, but it was good none the less! The bartender threw in 5 wedges of lime, which was slight overkill on the garnish front. Staff was friendly, the food that went by looked good. I would come back for sure!

This place was pretty freaking cool. I am visiting from Oregon and wanted to go do something, and this place was pretty cool. I didn’t like ALL the music that was playing, but they had a few good songs I go into. Drinks a a decent price too, which was good. The rooftop bar was awesome! The middle floor thing was kind of sand and empty haha but overall I had a fence time. I would go back.

Came here for a later dinner in a Thursday night and was extremely surprised to see they had a pretty great food for a bar. On top of the food, the drink specials for the day, including the rest of the evening, were great! We got there about a ½ hour before the kitchen closed so as we were finishing our meals the lights went down and they started the usual bar music for the night. Overall I wouldn’t hesitate to eat there again.

My boyfriend and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon recently, it was before a game so it was busy but not super busy yet. We stayed for just one beer and and app. We had the cheese curds with fries(so good) and they had a pretty good tap beer selection. The cheese curds were Riverwest Stein battered and came with a good portion of hand-cut fries for $ 7. The rest of their menu looked tasty and I hear they have a good brunch. I’m all about clean and nice looking public bathrooms and the ladies room was nicely done. Although I suspect this place has the chance of getting«ugly» on a busy weekend night(douchbaggery) it was more our scene during the day when we were there. I’d go back again if I was in the area. Try the cheese curds! You won’t be disappointed.

Review for the bar only… This place was surprisingly great. We went straight up to the rooftop bar. Where there were lots a great drink specials and plenty of heaters to keep warm in Feb. Downstairs turned into quite the club complete with a bro circle attempting to break dance and take up the dance floor. Started to bring in an «interesting» crowd so we moved on to the next place. Either way I would try this place again for sure. It seems like their food is pretty good too, we will save that for next time.

I’d go 2.5 if I could, simply because the hostess really made an effort(she had only been on the job 4 days and they were packed) and because the truffle fries were pretty legit. Happy hour goes until 7, which is great — because the menu is pricey for what you get. They serve a «deconstructed» nacho basket for almost TWENTYDOLLARS — basically a basket of chips with several small bowls of toppings. Huh? We saw another table order this option and strayed away, opting for some asparagus spears, truffle fries, and chips n salsa(we wanted some protein but we were informed they didn’t have wings, and the slider plate on the app menu wasn’t large enough for sharing). Asparagus OK, truffle fries DELISH, and chips n salsa… edible, but not great. The salsa had a strange flavor and we left it mostly untouched. One bonus — $ 3 beers on tap during happy hour! They were severely overwhelmed by the pre-concert traffic(multiple staff asked us what was going on that night) and the seating process was wonky — many tables sat empty with«reserved» signs while people waited, looking around. Luckily, we were able to work with one of our servers to expedite our process, but only because we made an effort several times. Good location, and I think some potential, but not a place I’d put on my list for regular visits.
