Z Cafe

I used to come here a lot when I lived close-​by. My friend and I would call it «the Z.» The food is decent. I like the atmosphere. They had the best coffee in the world!

As a warning (update April 2008): This place seems to have been taken over by Chinese proprietors… I’m seeing «try our new Chinese menu» banners over their windows now, and I think they’re doing dinner now… At some point we may get over there to check out what’s new, but if you’re expecting what had been there, you might be disappointed.
Gotta love a greasy spoon in walking distance from home… We’ve taken a couple of overnight guests here for breakfast, and enjoyed the corner café feel of the place. It seems to mostly cater to the older folks in the neighborhood, though there have also been young families there when we’ve visited. Don’t miss the hash browns, and otherwise it’s all much of a muchness with any other classic diner. I think they also do lunch, but I’ve never seen them open for dinner.
