Have been going to this library for years and years I was 5 I think lol. anyway small library but the most well stocked library I have ever seen. books are tightly packing in there so it’s easy to find a good book. Just stay away from the kids side! Loudddddd! Screaming kids and music. Over all one of the best library’s around

I share a lot of the sentiments of my fellow Unilocalers, between this library and the bookmobile that used to park down the block from me on 18th and Holt, they’ve opened up a lifetime of reading for me. This was the library of my childhood, where I joined the summer reading program, studied and wrote research papers. Now I find myself back here every so often since I don’t live that far away. As a fan of unique architecture, this place is one of my favorite places on the south side to look at. The pictures don’t do it justice. This goblet-shaped building is worth a look in person, or at least on google earth. As far as the substance goes, this library has a pretty good selection for being on the smallish side. They lack in new DVD’s, but have some unique DVD’s. The CD selection is pretty good, and the books are surprisingly plentiful and diverse. For example, last time I was in, I looked for books on Vegetarian/Vegan cooking, and I found about two shelves worth. Employees are pretty nice here, but sometimes can’t be bothered with problems. Still a cool library after all these years, especially in the summer when you borrow a book and enjoy some reading in the courtyard.

Though small, has every book I’ve wanted on the shelf so far. Nice children’s section in English and Spanish fitting the needs of a bilingual neighborhood. Not run down or crappy like small libraries in mediocre areas can be. A wonderful asset to southern Milwaukee.

I attribute my love for reading to this library! As a kid, I would beg my parents to drop me off here, and I would literally spend hours in the library reading and looking for more books to bring home! I remember being part of their summer reading programs all through elementary school — until I moved away :(. I really should come back and visit, as this library is the SHIZZZZ.

The Library of my Formative Years. My grandmother used to live across the street. When I went there, it was the Oklahoma Avenue library. It was renamed in 1984 to honor the late Congressman Clement J. Zablocki who represented the area in the United States House of Representatives for more than three decades from 1948 to 1983. It’s always been very a heavily used resource in the Jackson Park neighborhood, as there are several schools within walking distance. For a small neighborhood library, this one kicks ass. I studied here all thru my Junior High School and High School years, and my parents still go here every week to load up on library books, DVDs and CDs(they are frugal, you know). They have reading groups here for kids and a great collection of periodicals. I fed my reading obsession here — that I still possess, growing up. The building itself is interesting. It’s a round building, built around a center round courtyard. Very modernist, and an unusual structure for the south side of Milwaukee.
