Worst Tom Yum soup I have ever had, was so acidic I couldn’t even eat it. We were the only guest at the time, yet received inattentive service, no smiles, no water refills. Had to remind the cashier twice about a coupon… Hence, no tip given. What more can I say… I won’t be back.

Amazing Red Curry– I order its spicy and its consistently the perfect amount of heat. Great seafood specials, great service, fast take out if you don’t want to dine in.

Been 3xs and each time the food was delicious. Although the third visit the vegetables were over cooked. I ordered mixed vegetables and pad woon sen. And each plate was delicious. My friend got panang salmon. he enjoyed it very much. Waittress was friendly and attentive. And portions are a heck of alot better then most thai restaurants.

My SO and I are weekly regulars. The Thai iced coffee and tea are made perfectly every time. Their«Thai hot» option is legitimately spicy unlike our experiences at nearly every other Thai restaurant we’ve tried. I highly recommend the curries, especially pumpkin, mango, green, and pineapple. They have great appetizers and specials as well. They stay very consistent which is why we keep coming back.

Great food. When you order Thai hot, they don’t bring it less than Thai Hot. Good Thai flavor and plenty of it.

This use to be my favorite restaurant anywhere. I still enjoy it, and it is still good, but over the last couple years, it isn’t quite hitting on every cylinder. The food always looks beautiful. The decoration inside is… odd — as it looks almost like a Barbeque restaurant with posters of what I assume are Thai films, and window frames all along the wall. The standard fare of basil fried rice, pad thai, pad kee mao, pad see eew, are all decent choices. But their curry is still the best in the area. Additionally, their pineapple fried rice is a real treat. And I’ve never been disappointed in their chef recommended dishes either. Some stuff in that which I’ve never seen in other Thai restaurants. For a delicious and surprisingly healthy eat, look into the Kao Neuw Som Tum.(Shredded Green Papaya Salad). I would gladly stuff my face with that even if I wasn’t trying to eat healthy. I wish I could say they deliver the same quality that they did the first several years I went here. It use to be flawless in my eyes and I would tell people I’ve never had a single bad thing here. But the last few times I’ve had their soups were underwhelming(balance of flavors were off), and a lot of their noodle dishes like Pad Thai have tampered down into a little more«good-to-average» than excellent, by not bringing that exciting diversity of flavors that is inherent in Thai Food. But it’s still good enough to dot on the map and try it out.

I had high hopes for this place, being that it’s one of the few Asian restaurants in downtown Milwaukie, but it was not satisfying. Had their: — Fresh Salad Rolls($ 5.50) — clean and tasted pretty good — tofu Tom Yum Soup($ 9) — pretty watery and SUPER sour from the lemongrass. This was not good. — tofu Pad Thai($ 9.75) — average at best. The first few bites were okay, but it also felt a bit too sour. And they put way too much carrots here — Mango with Sweet Sticky Rice($ 7.50) — tasty & good. but it’s sad that the best dish was a dessert one The space is big & can fit a large dinner party and while the service was relatively friendly, it was super slowww. so-so service + mediocre food = an unfortunate combination & a place I wouldn’t rush to come back to.

Doesn’t scratch the Thai food itch. The pad Woonsen was bland. Pumpkin curry seemed fine. Crab cream cheese won tons were also just ok. If you are looking for good Thai, look elsewhere. If you like a bland Thai/noodle house, then this place is for you. Staff was very friendly.

Lived in Milwaukie from April to August 2015 and ate here several times… mostly out of convenience as I lived directly above the restaurant. I usually ordered the salad rolls or the Tom Kha soup, and the pineapple curry with chicken or the pad thai with chicken. Found the food here was a hit or miss. Was either really good or really awful. The only clue to the difference I could find was, the days it was very busy, the food seemed to suffer and the service too. On the days they were not overly busy the food was usually very good. I love Thai food and this place was really aggravating because it was so close to where I lived and did put out tasty food but not consistently. There are other Thai restaurants in Portland that are always excellent. Would recommend to eat at the Rice Cookery only if in the area(don’t go out of your way to eat here) and only if it is not crowded.

Panang Curry flavor was amazing. We got 2 stars and the flavor was robust and had plenty of extra sauce. Unfortunately the beef was tough like shoe leather. Chicken Pad Thai was about as exciting as watching paint dry. We asked for 2 stars and didn’t get any. The flavor was very bland and had very little meat in it. What meat was there was also overcooked. The wait staff was slow to respond and the restaurant was not busy. A large party that arrived after us had their order taken and served first. We came here based on the reviews on Unilocal and our experience was a disappointment. I hope yours is better.

This is one of my favorite Thai places in the area. I’m sure there are some things that could be improved but I’ve always been happy and well taken care of when I’ve been here.

Pad Thai was comparable to pretty much any other decent Thai place, the mango sticky rice was REALLY good, though that’s probably hard to screw up. Based on this one experience I’m giving them four stars for decent food, but not spectacular, good customer service, the girl that helped me was very nice, and a charming atmosphere. I got my lunch to go, but looked around during the short wait. The restaurant was clean and tidy, always a good sign. Maybe a little more expensive for your run of the mill Thai food, but I’m for sure going to give them another try in the future.

Delicious! We ordered food to go. We got the postickers, won ton soup, the garlic lovers stir fry and the moo ping. Oh my goodness, it was all so delicious, fresh and flavorful. The garlic lovers stir fry came with a generous portion of steamed brocolli, fresh cabbage and carrots and well as white rice. I order the beef for this dish. So much food and very tasty. The Moo Ping came with sticky rice, vegetables, a huge portion of pork and the most delicious plum sauce I’ve ever had. The potstickers were fantastic. I will be back! Love this place!

The food here was not great. I didn’t enjoy the Tom Kha soup. Way too many onions and there may not have been any coconut milk in it — I couldn’t detect any. Had much better Tom Kha soup elsewhere. Had three other dishes and they were all bland and boring. I’ve been to Thailand several times so I know good Thai food. There are better Thai restaurants in Portland. This one is so so.

The Thai tea is a little too sweet for me, but I’m not a sweet-toothed person in general. Pricey thai food, especially for the dinner menu, but it’s pricey for a good reason. I had the yellow curry and it was so delicious.

I Decided to give it one more try after being disappointed few months ago on how poor the service they have when we dine in with my family. So, I went back again with my friend to have a lunch with our kids after their swimming lesson but then again there’s no changes! Still very slow on accommodating the guest and it takes forever to get our Order. This place has an amazing food and one of my favorite Thai restaurant in town but it needs an improvement about their Stuff!!! This place need more people in order to take care of their guest properly. Sad to say but I’m not coming back again!!! Food is excellent but other than that it sucks!

O. M. G. Mussaman curry — thick, creamy, velvety, luscious sauce, the potatoes and veggies were properly cooked(a lot of Thai places the potato can be almost raw), the tofu was spectacular.
Hubby loved his chicken. Yes chicken. Half of a chicken on a plate. Not my cuppa tea but he was delighted.
The cocktails are creative, really good, and they don’t skimp on the liquor. The rice is cooked properly, not hard at all, and served in a pretty flower shape. In the past, we’ve shared the pad thai(hubby’s recent bout of kidney stones is making him more diet aware lol) with tofu and it was soooooo good. They grilled everything — tasted like it had been grilled over an open flame. Even the tofu was grilled with a marvelous smoky flavor. We’ve also had the appetizer sampler plate and it was more than I could eat. Salad rolls, spring rolls, fried tofu, fried dumpling — all just lovely. This place is just wonderful. It makes me happy. This may be the best Thai food I’ve had in Oregon.

This place is the bomb! The Lemongrass Chicken is to die for. I know I shouldn’t be telling everyone this, but it’s so good. Order to go, or dine in, the service is attentive and kind. Wednesdays and the weekend, my favorite service is there. I know, I have to try other dishes on the menu(and I have) but Lemongrass Chicken… yum! This place has distinctive flavors and spices worthy of the best Thai restaurant. So good!

2 words — Garlic Lover — I wished I just ordered it twice and did not share it with 2 others. Incrediblle! We had it with tofu and the garlic/sauce stood up to it just fine. I could see this on chicken wings and i don’t eat chicken. Secondly, the server. she put up with one of my friends asking her if she could trade for a bloody mary as her drink was too sweet.(I sometimes have to slide down in my seat and hide behind my menu when anyone does those sorts of things.) The server did not even blink though. She was wonderful the whole time. Speaking of bloody marys. wonderful homemade mix. It’s actually called a Thai Bloody Mary. And it also stood up to the name. It was a wonderful sunny Saturday early afternoon and this was a great stop in Milwaukie.

Wow — the food is amazing. My son who likes well prepared, really hot food ordered the Mussaman Curry, thai hot. After convincing our well meaning server that he knew what he was doing, they obliged him. One taste and he was convinced, «now this is what I’ve been looking for». While I like my food spicy, I’m not a big fan of the super hot — yet I found this dish to be very flavorful and not overwhelmingly hot. We started out with the Tom Yum chicken soup — I ordered it medium and it was delish! For the first time in a while I felt like the portion size of a $ 9 bowl of soup was quite generous, which makes me very happy now, having some leftover in the fridge for tomorrow. I thought the heat was just perfect and happy I didn’t ask for hot or Thai hot. The flavors were great and the amount of chicken was also more than what I’ve been served at other places, which really makes the difference between 4 and 5 stars. We also had the Chicken Satay — I wanted to try one of their appetizers with peanut sauce and that seemed to be the best choice. It was good with the peanut sauce and perhaps even better with the Mussaman curry sauce, making us both happy that we saved some of this for when the main dishes were served. My main dish was from their chef’s recommended section — Kaow Mun Kai Tod — Marinated & battered chicken served with coconut & garlic rice and 3 special dipping sauces. It was very tasty, lightly battered, again what I felt was a generous portion. I really liked the different flavors of the 3 sauces. While my go to dish at most Thai places is the panang curry, I’m glad I went out from the standard to try something new. It was a great compliment to the spicy soup and a dish that your«non-spicy friendly» friends should consider. The presentation was also very well done — the rice was served in a fresh leaf«bowl» — I had to take a picture and upload it with my check in. The service was good — although they seemed to be kept very busy with only two servers, they were happy to take the time to answer our questions about the menu and make recommendations. The food came out promptly and I wouldn’t have changed a thing about the way it was prepared. The setting is basic in terms of comfort and I doubt they are the first tenant — the unfinished pine and the choice of art is about as far from traditional Thai design as I think you could possibly get, but once you try the food you won’t care about the rest. Even though this is about 30 minutes from my home, it’s a place I’ll definitely want to go back to. I’ll have to save my pennies — it’s by no means cheap, but getting enough food to have the next day helps soften the blow. Having off-the-menu specialties on their whiteboard in the entrance guarantees something new to try every time we go. They do offer a lunch special that I think I’ll want to try, it’s a full meal deal for a few dollars less. While I wouldn’t say that this place has the most extensive menu I’ve seen, it is certainly the first time outside of Thailand that I’ve seen Crispy and Crunchy Salty Grasshopper Served with Sri Ra Cha Sauce as an appetizer. I can’t wait to try the panang curry and some more soup!
