Great dinner!!! My mom and I are staying in Mineola to shop at Canton. Tonight we ate at Kitchens and ate a Ribeye. The Riveye was tender and flavorful. If in Mineola ona Friday or Saturday evening eat at Kitchens!!! It is BYOB, though… so stop somewhere and bring your own wine bottle.

Wow! The food is fantastic and the service is top notch! I love the quesadillas. Friday and Saturday nights Kitchens is a steak house with the best steaks in town. We love all the side dishes especially the mushrooms! We have been eating here for a year and it’s one of my favorite places in Texas!!!

I’ve been to the East Texas Burger Company across the street several times and I saw Kitchen’s but never thought to try it. Based on the recommendation of some friends who live close by, we decided to give it a shot. First impression — quaint, charming and relatively romantic. We went on a Saturday night and it was about three quarters full. This place actually gives Mineola a big boost in the Neat Little Texas Towns category(where it already resided) Our waitress was a big part of the positive experience. She was extremely cheerful and outgoing. She was quick with a recommendation and was always close by but never hovering. The food was mostly excellent. We had the mushroom appetizer and everybody loved them. I had the tomato basil soup and it was excellent. I got the 9 oz. filet and it was cooked perfectly and had good flavor. The blue cheese butter sent it over the top. One of my guests had the same filet and ordered it medium and it was WAY underdone. I felt a little lucky to get my steak cooked so well. Another friend got the ribeye and said it was just not that good a cut of meat. My wife got the steak a pouvre and thought it was great. My peach cobbler was fantastic but my wife’s chocolate pie was just not good at all. So, depending on where you’re sitting and what you order, you could get great but then again you could get meh(this is the primary reason for 4 stars instead of 5). For Mineola, Texas this is an excellent restaurant and if you order right and get lucky, it’s great no matter where you are. I’d go back for sure. Smiley face.

Solidly good American fare in a cool old hardware store. The chicken fried steak is immense, as the the specials. Fried chicken strips and smothered sirloin are excellent as well. Iceburg side salads are a little boring, but hey it’s a salad, in east Texas. The people here are nice and they’ve really done a great job making the interior distinctive. I could really do without the tv. Especially tuned to political blathering. Been coming to Kitchens for years and always know it will be satisfying. Just sit away from the tv for the most quality family time.

This place was awesome. It’s located in an old hardware store within the downtown commercial district and it looks like tables were just placed throughout the store. I stopped by here for lunch while passing through and ordered a chicken salad that came with a side of fruit. My server was very nice and my food came quickly. It was a very large portion of chicken salad that rested on a bed of lettuce and was surrounded by fresh fruit(banana, apple, and orange slices). I paid my tab as soon as I received my food, so that I could eat then get back on the road. Within a few bites of my salad, I realized that was was missing was bread so that I could make a sandwich. Even though I had already closed my tab, my server was so sweet and brought me bread at no charge, even asking if I wanted it toasted. A couple of hours after leaving, I realized that I’d left my credit card. I frantically called the place, but they’re only open for lunch and had already closed for the day. I left a desperate message for someone to call me back and within an hour I received a call stating that my card was indeed there. Although I asked that it just be cut up and thrown away, the nice gentleman offered to mail my card to me! Such generosity!!! And don’t you know that within 2 days my card was in my mailbox. It’s so nice to know that there’s still nice and decent people out there. If I’m ever passing through town again I will definitely stop here and would absolutely suggest that everyone else does to.

A must if in Mineola. We stop in Mineola a couple times per year and always make it a point to stop at Kitchens. Neat small town atmosphere where you eat your meal sitting next to plumbing supplies or garden tools. I like the Shiloh sandwich.

We are so glad we found this local establishment! We had both dinner and breakfast during our sister’s weekend at the First Monday in Canton. We stayed in Mineola for the value and found this restaurant on Unilocal. The steaks were absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and truly quality meet. The service was also top notch. The steaks are only available on the weekends, but they have a complete menu. Yes, it is part hardware store and apparently have a great deli too for lunch. It is BYOB and they provide glasses and an opener. We made reservations, which is a good idea on the Canton weekend. I would definitely recommend this place.

Kitchens is a truly unique experience. This restaurant/deli/hardware store serves everything from sandwhiches and burgers to chicken fried steak and quesadillas. I suggest their pastrami reuban on the onion bun. It’s my favorite. Also the sweet potato fries are delicious! On Friday and Saturday nights Kitchens serves the best steaks in town. Their filet is excellent as well as the prime rib with baked potato. Feel free to bring your own wine when dining at the restaurant on Fridays and Saturdays. The weekends can get pretty busy so reservations are recommended. There are all kinds of novelty items for sale and lots of hardware too if you’re interested. Highly recommend this restaurant if you live in or are traveling to Mineola.
