This is my neighborhood grocery store and I love having it here in the ‘hood. Good selection of groceries, fresh produce, clean store, friendly and helpful staff. Local kids from the neighborhood bagging my groceries. I love it. Yes, many things are a bit more expensive than the big box stores, but what do you expect? There is value in being in the neighborhood and being ‘right-sized.’

Everyone sells groceries. What gets me returning to one store over any other? Customer service. Hands down this is the best place to be. Checkout slow? Wishing they’d open another? Before you can even think that thought they have another lane open. Sure, there are still kids working the register at times, but I’ve had them not go on break to keep the lines moving. Where do you see that these days?

Great little neighborhood grocer! Although I shouldn’t call it little as it might not be the size of Cub or Super Target they still manage to squeeze a lot of goodness into a modest size building. Prices are also extremely competitive. Love every time my wife and I go up here as the staff is always super friendly and love that they have grocery baggers both young and old that bag your groceries and bring them to your car if you’d like. Wish more places like this existed — just a wonderful shopping experience all around.

It’s not bad for a small neighborhood grocery store. I stop in for the occasional necessity but don’t really do a lot of shopping here. Checkout is always fast and the people are always friendly but the prices aren’t that good and the selection isn’t that great. Very small deli, small meat counter and small produce section. If you are stocking up on groceries for the week I would suggest a larger store but if you just need some necessities to make it a few days then this place will do.

Bergans is great for a neighborhood market, we are super lucky. Easy parking, very helpful staff and a really good selection for a less than giant store. Have a question, no problem the staff goes out of their way to treat people like valued customers or neighbors. Even more amazing is they have a carry to your car service. The neighborhood is lucky to have them. Shopping should be a pleasant experience and Bergans makes it so — not like the giants.

Just like Ken & Norm’s liquor on Chicago Ave and 48th, Bergans Supervalu has all of the nice facets of a well-run, small, local business. Helpful associates, kind cashiers, and average prices. Great specials on day-or-two-old prepared foods(wings, sandwiches, salads, etc), fresh produce, and a good variety in the deli case. The excellent service is what keeps me coming back — they bag your groceries for you, they’ll carry them out to your car if you’d like them to, and there are never lines or problems finding someone to help you. All stores should have service like this!

It is, what it is. Any small town grocery struggles to stay relevant and affordable. They have managed to carve out a niche in the parkway crowd. Sometimes you just need some bread for dinner or another green pepper. This is where you go for the last minute things you forgot in a giant grocery trip. I find their produce fresh, their bakery works, the rotisserie chicken never disappoints and they have all the breakfast items you need. The prices are actually lower than you’d think. It’s basically the MSRP price on products you always see. Not too shabby. I like how they discount salads down to $.99. It’s a quick stop for me before dinner to pick it up and attack it. usually you’ll have a day or two before the salad wholly wilts. For a buck it’s perfect for a night meal and the next day lunch. Also, there’s free coffee all day every day!

I luuuurve Bergans. Every time I walk in the door I get a sentimental gleam in my eye, and I have to look down EVERY aisle like a kid in a toy store. Sale on chicken, delightful! I love peas! And there’s something magical about being able to park 10 feet from the door and have a bagger carry your stuff out to your car for you. The people that work there know me since I swing by there for recipe components at least once a week, and are super friendly. Their prices are not terribly competitive, especially if you’re not bargain shopping, but who gives an eff? I love supporting my local grocer and I especially love not having to cross the dreaded Lake Nokomis bridge during rush hour to get a gallon of milk.

I like this place because it’s down the street from me. I like it because they have the old school customer service perk of bringing your groceries to your car. Also, I don’t always find exactly what I need when I go in, usually just minor stuff, but they offer to special order stuff for you. How cool is that? If they don’t have it, they’ll get it for you. The produce tends to be fresh and the deli holds it’s own. The big turn off on this place is the prices. I go here when I need a few random things, but I don’t go here to fill my cupboards. I usually end up spending atleast 20% more on groceries here than I would at a big chain store like Cub Foods or something.

I have an amazing grocery store down the street… Can life get any better than that? Great store with a great small town feel to it. The procuce is fresh, the people are friendly and they have a meat dept with a window! I can only hope at this point that one of the butchers has a name like Hank or Bob and this place will have it all.
