I really liked this place, I only had wine so I can’t give a full 5 stars. The wine was very good and the location and setting is refreshing, I will surely be back.

This place is great for a chill night! Their location is perfect and the outside patio is wonderful in the summer time. Staff is very friendly as well.

Lovely place for a not too cheap glass of wine outside. We enjoyed bread and cheese and some lovely almonds with our wine. Very limited menu. Small pizzas are about the only thing of substance, but we were happy with what we had. .. if just for a brief visit.

A nothing special wine bar with snobby staff. We were walking by on a Saturday evening and decided to stop in and were surprised at how quiet it was — it was us and another couple in the entire bar. We enjoyed a few glasses of wine and appetizers but were completely turned off by the server. I asked him a few questions about the bar since it was new to us(if they had a happy hour and how long they’ve been there) and he was completely rude about it and acted like I should know all that. We tried them again a few days later and got another snotty attitude. This place would be great if they were nicer!

A low-key bar with a thoughtfully curated selection of great tap beers, unpretentious wines, and tasty snacks. Nothing quite like watching the sunset on the Minneapolis skyline from their covered patio. A great place to meet for one, and end up finishing a bottle.

I am thrilled that this little place is so close to my apartment. Bev’s is cozy, and although it is only steps from Washington Avenue, it does feel«off the beaten path.» Their patio has an awesome view of downtown and is still quiet enough to be enjoyable. My mom and I went here to do what we do best. We both got two glasses of wine(I opted for the malbec then pinot noir — both were wonderful). We also ordered Cesar salads, which were light and really tasty, and shared brie and ½ a baguette. I have already added Bev’s to my «new neighborhood beat» and cannot wait to go back during happy hour.

Beautiful spot to grab a glass of wine and chill with friends. The inside of the warehouse turned wine bar is lovely. High ceilings, dim lights, perfect. The outside patio is nice as well. I was kind of disappointed by the wine selection. There wasn’t a lot to pick from. Ok. I selected the Cab. My first glass was pretty bad. I don’t know if the wine went south but it was very vinegary tasting. The second glass was better. But I’m not sure if that’s because I was already a glass deep. Food nibbling plates were decent. The plates are smaller so you should get one or two. We went with the half baguette(generous portion of bread) and the cheese. They were both ok. Cute spot but I’d probably check out other wine bars before coming back. If I were in the neighborhood though I would give it another shot.

Perfect bar, to meet a friend beautiful warehouse space, DJ’s every Friday and Saturday at 9… if you’re looking for civilized entertainment that will expand your music IQ. So glad to have this bar in my neck of the woods!

Perfect if what you are looking for is a laid back, somehow off the beaten path(but centrally located) wine bar. Their patio is nice on a summer night. The menu is somewhat limited in its selection of wines by the glass, still everyone should be able to find something that suits their taste. Great place for a relaxed evening with friends, ideal to converse as it is quiet.

I’ve come a number of times to watch a friend of the wife’s DJ. Muted laid back atmosphere and just a nice place to relax. Deja Vu is right next door, which has from time to time provided humorous people watching outside. Still can’t convince the wife to stop in. My only real complaint, being a wine bar, their tap beer has been on the flat side a few times.

Bev’s is a lovely little place. I have been during the week and on a Saturday night and both times thought it was just right. When everything else is packed on the weekend Bev’s still offers an intimate experience, a table for four and a friendly server — she even gave us the happy hour price on our first drink even though we got there right at the cutoff(Happy hour until 10p on a Saturday night!). I will definitely go back here when I want a nice time out without being bombarded by people. Great little place to chill out.

I got there for the happy hour and was the only one there as they had just opened the doors. The host and bartender didn’t greet me at all, so I had to greet them. I got something close to a «grunt» in response. Ooookaaaay? Did ya’ll just wake up from bed or something? They weren’t completely horrible though, the service after I seated myself was much improved. I didn’t have to wait long to order my drink and snacks. The wine list was sparse. Only five reds to choose from and they didn’t even have any cabernet! I had the brie cheese, salami, and french bread with butter. Everything tasted fine, nothing special. The major problem that occurred was with the butter. The butter is wrapped in gold foil and basically frozen solid. Since it was frozen, it was impossible to spread butter on the bread, it just clumped up as frozen butter tend to do. The place has a «cheers» vibe to it, except, in a more sterile way. lol. If that floats your boat, this is the place for you. I won’t be back.

This place is absolutely a hidden gem. Classy Mc’Class Class. The atmosphere here is TODIEFOR. It’s so intimate and cozy, but classy too. People here seem to all know each other, and you feel almost like you’re a part of a hidden group. I loved it. The house wine bottle is only $ 24 or $ 5 a glass. That’s pretty good if you ask me! They have pretty generous portions of the food, but not too overwhelming. Delicious! I highly recommend this place. Oh, also, they hire a DJ to do the music from behind the bar. You barely notice him until you start to wonder where the incredible music keeps coming from.

Bev’s is very dangerous unless you are in love with the person you go there with before you get through the door. Because this is a serious date night, candle-light will mess you up badly romance-saturated spot. You can get into major major trouble if you just take someone you think you kinda like but you don’t know for sure. Cheap yet excellent vino, good cheese plates.

Nestled between the Deja Vu strip club and a clear view of Sex World, Bev’s is truly a hidden gem — based on class alone. Boy, it is really hard not to repeat the exact words and sentiment of Farah H. and Annie D. So I will try a different angle, and hopefully add some value. Here are my highlights: «hidden gem» factor — clearly a repeat, but since this was my first foray into the North Loop neighborhood, it was all a new experience. Atmosphere/Décor/Ambiance — everyone is spot on. A small space that feels spacious and cozy. Candlelight, great music that isn’t distracting. Great looking wine list and prices: Just an observation, decided on beer because of the next reason: Grain Belt Premium — Draft. Always wins me over. All class, all the time. Meat & Cheese Plate: Now this is the type of plate I would make at home. Loads of salami, lot’s of cheese and a hearty serving of olives. And at the same price of skimpier plates I have experienced. Maybe cheaper. Bartender 1: Super nice guy — and a good mix of attention/inattention. After explaining my request for a glass of Ice(glass blowing burn — totally worth it thought), he kept the glass full and even gave me a towel to use, instead of the napkins that disintegrated too quickly. That really made the experience much better… Thanks! Pizza with Tomatoes, Parmesan, Mozzarella, & Green Olives — Honestly didn’t expect this to be as good, since it seemed like a random item for a wine bar to offer. But since the Beau was still hungry and we needed more food. And whoa — it hit the spot! I am definitely going back — especially in the nicer weather since the patio sounds awesome.

Hidden-freaking-gem indeed. After Ms. Farah H.‘s glowing recommendation, I had been meaning to try this little North Loop wine bar. The opportunity came post Oktoberfest(dangerous, it is known) and the rumors rang true. This is a chic-but-comfy, dimly lit haven that exists without a wisp of pretention. Their patio has one of the best views of downtown Minneapolis, and though you’re basically two shakes from Sex World, Deja Vu and the Twins Stadium, it’s quite calm and peaceful since Bev’s is off the main drag. You can order the cheapest(or second cheapest) bottle on the menu and they won’t blink. Maybe I’ll find out someday if they blink when you order the most expensive bottle, but probs not. You can groove to their excellent selection of vinyl tunes, played at a comfortable conversation volume. You can order cheese plates. You can just chill.

I love going to Bev’s. In fact I love Bev’s so much I don’t want anyone else to start going there. but I guess that would be selfish of me. It is one of my favorite little secret spots. Why? Well it’s dark the way a good wine bar should be. It’s candlelit and small, yet spacious-feeling and completely unassuming. Occasionally they spin 80’s music. The owner Paul is the perfect person to sidle up to at the bar and have a satisfying chat with. They literally tried to match the paint in the bathroom to the exact blue of a Tiffany’s box. That fact alone should win a girl over. The wine selection is lovely, there’s a nice cheese plate, and you never feel crowded. Great for a date and quiet enough for a catch up with your girlfriends. Cheers!

Checked out Unilocal before heading to Minneapolis from Miami, looking for a cool, happy hour spot. Wasn’t disappointed! The wines, cheeses, olives, and meats were all very high quality. Perfect way to start an evening out downtown. The outdoor area overlooks part of downtown Minneapolis and the indoor is very beautiful, with wood floors and high ceilings. My only complaint would be the limited nature of the menu. There was only one type of wine offered per varietal.

Times change, so do the number of Stars! The first time I was here was a few months after it opened, years ago. I met some friends there who had come straight from work. I had ventured home first and changed into shorts and some more laid back garb(not messy but still shorts). Now I don’t know if that is why the waiter choose to totally disregard the fact I was standing 2 feet from him or passed me 5 times as I leaned against the bar. All that I know is that he was really pissed when I went behind the bar and poured myself a drink. Now I paid for it and even tipped extra. I will say I had no problem telling the waiter what I thought of him, his attitude and service, but needless to say I didn’t hang around long. Well years later we went back with some friends for a bite and a couple of glasses of wine before our night out started. Service was great, appetizers were very good, very solid wine selection and prices are fair. Over all it is a nice location with plenty of positives. I will be back, and I won’t get kicked out this time. KT

If you’re looking for an intimate, dark spot to grab a glass of wine while engaging in a romantic tête-à-tête, I highly recommend Bev’s. While wine bar is in the name, they do carry a variety of beers, so if your tablemate or SO doesn’t like the grape juice(this happens to be the sad, sad case with me), they’ll still find something to satisfy them. I’ve never eaten here, but it would be a perfect spot to grab a late-night snack/bite while you drain a lovely glass(or bottle). We could use more places like Bev’s in the city. If you’re in a crunch for a quite, romantic spot to spend the later part of your date, pop into Bev’s — you won’t be disappointed.
