Big John’s Appliance Service

Look no further. I just moved into a new house and found a terrific business for my oven repair. Quick response, great work, fair price. I recommend them.

Our dryer had been making an awful noise for a week or so and was at the point of being unusable. I called up Big John’s and had an appointment on the books within 48 hours!
The appointment was right on time and they were able to fix the issue on the spot. The price was very reasonable and the service was great. I would defiantly use them again, although I hope the dryer holds up for quite some time!

This past Sunday, the heating function for my gas clothes dryer quit on me, right in the middle of doing a few loads of laundry (of course). Past experience with HomeServicePlus where I previously lived, left much to be desired… and I’m being very charitable when I phrase it that way.
Having used Unilocal!many times in the past to either post experiences with services/​businesses that I’ve used or to find a service/​business to take care of a need that has arisen, I looked up their reviews for Appliance Repair Services and at the top of the list was Big John’s Appliance Service. Scanning through the first 4 – 5 entries, I made note of how many reviews were available and Big John’s had more than the others combined. I read all the reviews posted and based on the repeated high praise given and of the many repeated positive attributes that I look for in any business, this was the place I was going to call!
I talked with Mark on Monday morning, told him what my issue was, he asked a few questions about my appliance and my problem to pinpoint more closely what type of repair I might need and told me he was available to come out on Tuesday. In the 5 years that I was a customer of HSP, I never once was able to schedule an appointment for appliance service where I didn’t have to wait a minimum of 72 hours for an appointment.
Mark arrived right on time at the start of the 2 hour window that he quoted me when we spoke on the phone. He got right down to work, was able to access the rear of my dryer, removed the back panel and electrically checked out the various components that could be causing my problem. He identified the problem as being a thermal fuse that had gone bad and not a faulty gas valve as I had suspected it might be. He had the part stocked in his truck and proceeded to replace it and also inspected the condition of my vent pipe (very clean) and also of how well the airflow was through the dryer when he operated it (perfect airflow). He put everything back together so that you couldn’t tell that he had even been here.
I asked him some questions regarding the newer models of washers and dryers and of his opinion on their reliability and repair rates and he expressed much the same that I’ve heard from a lot of family and friends… if your equipment is in good condition and maintained, even if it’s 10 – 20 years old, DO NOT get rid of your machines! Repairing your existing machines will end up costing far less than repairing the newer models which are engineered with all electronic components which can have a higher failure rate and the price of the components themselves can be quite expensive.
It was very refreshing to hear someone giving me an honest answer to my specific question about my appliance (s) and not try to bullshit me into making unnecessary purchases or spend extra money for something that is not necessary.
For a visit of 35 – 40 minutes, restoration of normal function for my gas dryer and a reasonably priced bill for his service, I would gladly do business with this company again and I’ve already mentioned them to a number of friends who were looking to have a company to call on for appliance repair service.

Excellent customer service! I chose Big John’s Appliance because of Unilocal and my experience reflects all of the positive reviews written. As a former prisoner of Sears warranty and their crappy customer service, Big John’s Appliance is a welcome relief. Mark knew exactly what I was talking about when I called in my problem. No condescension, no grief — the perfect experience. Pricing is very reasonable. Big John’s Appliance is now officially my go to for any appliance issue and I would (and will) recommend this company to anyone.

The boyfriend loaded a king sized comforter into our top loading Whirlpool washer, despite my suggestion that we take it to a laundromat. An hour later, the basement reeked like burning rubber, and the machine refused to spin or drain. One call to Big John’s, and I could tell from speaking with Mark on the phone that this was the repair service for me.
Next day service, your service call fee ($ 79) is applied toward any repair that they might do, in business since 1954. I didn’t specifically ask, but I’m assuming it’s a family run business, which I love. Mark was very knowledgeable about my machine, and while replacing the belt that snapped, he did a tune up and recommended we replace the water valve to improve the flow of cold water into the tub. One hour and $ 200 later, we have another 15 – 20 years left in the 1984 made washer, provided nobody overloads it…
I cannot say enough good things about Big John’s. Call them for washers, dryers, refrigerators, and stoves.

I had a dryer that didn’t want to dry. I called Big Johns and not only did he come out to our home on his way home from work, he was very kind, thorough and very reasonably priced. I will definitely call again when we need to and recommend him to anyone!

Awesome service. Came out right away to fix our Maytag gas dryer. It was taken care of quickly. I would definitely call them again.

I found Big John’s online and was attracted by the good ratings. Mark was able to come the same day as requested, despite me working nights and having a goofy schedule at times. We had both our washer and dryer fixed quickly, for a reasonable price, and he took a peak at my old fridge and advised me to replace it rather than put another dime into it. Our laundry appliances are now functioning as good as new. I thought Mark was kind and very professional. I would definitely use his services again.

Wow! Just called to get a quote on repairing our washer motor coupler. The quote was reasonable, but I’d rather not pay to fix this old, old, old machine. The guy I talked to (st. Paul location) was kind enough to tell me where locally I can buy the part to fix it myself and to give me some advice. When I do need to have a repair done, this is definitely the place I will use!

I totally echo all of the positive comments below. I called Mark on Monday. My GE fridge stopped making ice, was frosting over and the fridge side was barely cooling. Mark suspected my auto-​defrost heater had failed, a common problem with these models. Unfortunately, he could not do a service call until Thursday so he gave me instructions on how to temporarily solve the problem, which worked perfectly. Mark arrived on Thursday, right on schedule and verified the problem. He came prepared with a replacement part and had my fridge back up and running in a little over an hour.
If only all service companies could be this awesome. I would recommend this company to anyone who needs appliances serviced. Honest, reasonably priced and very reliable.

If you’re in the market for appliance repair, then Big John’s the perfect place to call.
My husband found them in the phone book (which I normally don’t like to do) when we needed someone to look at a leaky refrigerator located in our garage.
They came out within a day and had the 3-​year old problem fixed in 20 minutes. It was VERY inexpensive, the customer service was great and 4 months later, we don’t have one drip of water in the fridge.
About 2 months ago, I had a washing machine that wasn’t spinning. Again, I called Big John’s and they were out within a day. The machine was fixed in less than 30 minutes and again, it was very inexpensive.
Big John’s is a family business and they have been around for over 50 years. After hiring them twice, I can see why. They are now on our speed dial and we will call them with any and all appliance repairs.
You know how everybody was «a guy» to do various things around your house? Big John’s is that guy.
