Dr. Birnbaum has a wonderful bedside manner. When I met him, I was coping with a scary new diagnosis, and he was incredibly gentle, informative, and understanding.
He put me completely at ease. Do you remember Doc Graham, played by Burt Lancaster, in Field of Dreams? That’s Dr. Birnbaum. Sweet, kind of funny, and you trust him immediately.
He doesn’t always tell me what I want to hear (Exercise more, Jen! Quit forgetting to take your vitamins, Jen!), but that shows how much he actually cares and wants me to do well. Best neurologist ever. I’ll be devastated if (when) he finally retires.
