I have a really old A/​C but pennies are tight. It just needed to be filled up with Freon (it was completely empty). The technician also did a leak check and said my leak was small. They guaranteed the existing leak in my system wouldn’t need refilling in 2013 and put it on my receipt that any refills would come at their expense. He said its working remarkably well considering its age and it should last me through the year. Considering the fan on the unit wasn’t working and no cold air was coming through they system they definitely could have sold me a whole new unit. But they kept the cost to the freon+ minimum service charge and left me a happy customer.
Side Note: I found them through Xcel’s approved contractor list. You’ll need to find an approved contractor to qualify for a rebate
