I bought a Groupon to this place to try out a haircut. The salon is clean and the staff was friendly. They offered me coffee, tea, wine, and bourbon. My haircut was good. My stylist told me exactly what she was doing so I could say something if it wasn’t exactly what I wanted. Not sure if I will go back for a full price cut, but a good deal for the Groupon.

I went here for a trim. She said she would trim all the layers of my long hair. I did not have many layers… they were very minor and blended well. The cut she did is terrible. I have never been so unsatisfied with a hair cut. The layers are SO choppy. I look ridiculous and am embarrassed. The cut doesn’t even make sense. One side of my hair has a VERY short top layer that just sits there. Sigh. Seriously a super bummer. I was going to try and make it a week but I cannot. I just made an appointment elsewhere for this week to get it fixed and hopefully blended. Because the one layer is so short I am afraid my hair will have to be cut short as well in order to blend it. Update: I got my hair fixed by someone I know on 1⁄7 at a cosmetology school. The instructor used my hair as a learning experience for students because of the poor cut I had at Burbon and Bows. I had long hair that I had been growing out… now in order to fix the mistake created by them I have had a total of 6 inches taken off. It is just hair but I a bummed and deserve a refund.

I came upon this salon via a Groupon. I have been here a few times now. The staff here are really friendly and have been very patient/accommodating of my style requests. I also like that my stylist didn’t push me to buy their products like a lot of salons do. I definitely plan on returning to Bourbon and Bows for future hair services.

Beware of those tempting Groupons! You get what you pay for: inexperience. The salon is nice, folks are nice, but my stylist did no listen to me at all. A trim of two inches, turned my very long, thick hair to shoulder length. The curls I said I normally do with a curling iron, turned into choppy waves. The ends are so choppy, rough and uneven, I will be going in to visit a professional soon. I want a decent cut! I honestly didn’t think it would be hard, since my hair was long and layered, but she just cut it short, dried it and waved the top, but not the bottom. Short, thick hair needs definition. You just can’t take scissors and cut across, but it’s acceptable at this salon. I could have done that! So keep in mind that the chances of you going home and feeling terrible and upset you have a bad haircut are great and not worth the free glass of wine. I use a Groupon for a trim and to check out new, local salons and I mentioned this. Look for a salon where you are heard and respected.

I love this salon. I’ve been going to see Gillian for almost a year and hair perfection is achieved every time! I’ve seen the salon through some changes and love what it has become. Super cute salon, great stylists, comfortable atmosphere, reasonable prices, and all around good vibes. If you’re looking for a solid salon in the cities, you’ve found it! I’d be lost without my hair savior, Gillian.

So disappointing! I loved this place when they first changed over, but went back recently and my stylist, who was part owner, is no longer there and apparently took the whole personality of the place with her. I got a poor cut from someone else, never was offered a beverage, and the other owner, Gillian, couldn’t bother to even say hello, even though she has seen me there many times. Fortunately, I found out that Heidi went to Evolution Hair. I just saw her there and got a great cut and above average color! I love Heidi and Evolution! I will not be back to Bourbon and Bows, even though it is in a more convenient location!

I love this salon! Newly renovated with new ownership and AMAZING stylists. Nestled above the 331, the salon is spacious and sunny with a great vibe. I’ve been seeing Gillian, a stylist(and owner), for years now and I won’t trust my hair to anyone else. She and the rest of the staff excel at cuts, color, you name it. I went in for balayage a few months ago and the color is still as gorgeous as the first day. My highlights are blended so well, it looks like I was born with them. Bourbon and Bows Salon is a must if you live in/near NE and honestly, even if you live anywhere in the metro. They’re amazing. Plus, street parking is always available and it’s in such a cute neighborhood. I can’t say enough good things about this place.

This place is amazing! The space has been renovated and is super cute! Everyone is friendly and you even get to have a glass of wine with your appointment. I saw Jess and got a cut, color, and deep conditioning! Jess took the time to achieve the color and style I really wanted! The attention to detail made me feel confident about what the final outcome would be! I have Asian hair, so sometimes getting the right color and cut can be tricky, but Jess was wonderful! My hair looks amazing and I can honestly say that this was the best hair appointment I’ve had in a long time(and tried my fair share of salons in the Twin Cities and even the surrounding suburbs)! So, go check this place out!!!
