Skated here with my two girls(4 and 2) at a birthday party. The ice was great, skate rental good, the place wasn’t overly crowded. Only problem I had was that they didn’t provide helmets for the kids who were renting skates. From a cost point of view, it seems like investing in 20 helmets is a hell of a lot cheaper than having a lawyer respond to some parent’s lawsuit when their kid cracks their head on the ice. Just my two cents. It also would have made me feel a little better. Especially since every other rink I’ve been to makes you wear their helmet.

Braemar offers year round open skating. At only $ 4 a visit and $ 2 to rent skates, it’s a decent deal. For kids who need help on the ice, they have some walker-type things made out of PVC pipes included in the price of admission. Too bad their open skate times are rather limited — only about 2 hours a day(and not every day of the week either). It’s decently busy(but not crowded) on weekends during open skate, but I had the ice to myself for nearly an hour one weekday morning. If you want to skate regularly, they offer individual and family passes, and classes of all types for all ages.
