I’ve seen this place pop up on Unilocal and Google searches several times I finally decided to check it out for lunch yesterday. Its sort of hard to find because its in an office building on 3rd street, but just go in the main entrance and you’ll stumble on it. The place is bright and cozy with a decent amount of seating. The ordering system and menu board are kind of unclear, but the staff are VERY efficient at taking and making orders! For around $ 8.50 I had a sandwich and a 4 ounce salad. I had the«rebeccca» which was a turkey, pepperjack, sauerkraut, 1000 island baby and I also had the potato salad. Both were delightful! They have a hug list of sandwiches and I’ll certainly come back. They have a smaller breakfast menu and a coffee bar as well.

The green smoothie and the egg and cheese on an English muffin were excellent! Highly recommend!

Every chance I get I always stop by this deli. Customer service is great, the environment is cozy, and I enjoy that the workers there are very down to Earth and always genuinely want to know how you are. I think that is important, and they are good at remembering your face. The food there is always a safe bet and is not bland, I really dislike going out of my way to get food and getting bland food, and C McGee’s each menu item taste good with a health kick.

Loved the setting of this place. Basic deli look with a modern interior and plenty of seating. Free WIFI. The person taking our order appeared dazed and confused. Not inviting. He made us feel uncomfortable. The women appeared very friendly. The lunch line built up rather fast. Our order took longer than we expected as we were the only people in the place when we placed it. The apology from the server for taking too long confirmed our feelings. I ordered the turkey raz sandwich with chipolte raspberry cream cheese spread and cucumbers. It was excellent. The what a bean burrito was not. They were out of black beans. Even so, the flavor profile was not impressive. The chocolate chip cookie was great. The special K bar was a disappointment. Parking on the street. It is a nice place but underwhelming.

This is a small family owned deli with several choices of sandwiches and soups. I’ve never been that impressed with the sandwiches –however they are made fresh and in general, good and fulfilling. During lunch hour, the place gets busy. The service during the busy hour is generally prompt, curt and apathetic. During the mornings, it is much slower. The annoying thing about the mornings, is that no one is ever at the front cashier area, so you sometimes end up waiting 5 minutes before anyone notices. Yelling into the back doesn’t seem to work either! I would have given three stars, three stars is my go to rating for mediocre places. However, I decided to give two stars, because the new staff is really negative and rude. Whenever I order breakfast, she’s always frazzled and confused about everything. It’s understandable the first week or so to be like that, but it’s been nearly a month now, and she’s still behaving the same. The kicker is, today, when I ordered Chai for a drink, she asked«How do you make that?» At first, I thought she was talking to the cook in the back, but then she stepped towards me and huffily asked, «You’d better tell me how to make that, because I don’t know how to make it.» Then she gave me a long crabby stare, as if I was causing HER problems. Well, why don’t I just jump over the counter and make my own sandwich while we’re at it? I’d say, if you can’t even perform the most basic function of your job, ie. treat the customer with respect and KNOW your own product, you really should do something else or better yet, get fired! I don’t play games with my money, my time, or rude people. I will no longer be eating meals here. Cuzzy’s and Freehouse shall be showered with my money instead. The end!

So i’m here for lunch right… hmm. The special of the day is Fish Tacos and west coast clam chowder. I gave in, i loovvee fish tacos. So you take give your order to one person then you pay with another. The lady was unable to spell my name so she me to write my own name on the food ticket. Hmmm. Okay i also ordered a chocolate-toffee chip cookie(giant) and a large iced chai tea latte. What was the total? JEEZ! $ 19.23!!! Wtf? I was floored… but good thing this was not on MY dime! The food is not WOW but it is good. Will i come again…(side eye) Most likely not. Sry to expensive.

This is a great deli. If you live or work in the area I highly recommend trying it out for a weekday lunch. This has been our go-to lunch meeting ordering spot for work and recently my co-workers and I found out you can actually sit and eat lunch here. It almost feels like being in a New York City deli. The staff is generally prompt and friendly. The prices are very reasonable and you can tell the ingredients are fresh. It’s the sandwiches you wish you’d make at home but never get around to. Personally, I enjoy the Parmesan Turkey but there are an abundance of different sandwich options — all classic and delicious. They also have a few daily pasta salad, salad, soup and bakery options to accompany your sandwich. Try em out!

Not too shabby, plus it’s right across the street from our loft, so that’s convenient for catching some breakfast before driving to work in the mornings.

I’ve been here just one time and it was OK: nothing great but nothing offensive, either. I had the Turkey Avocado, which in hindsight is a bit boring, but it sounded good at the time. This place has lots of sandwich options and I’m intrigued sufficiently to come by again. The sandwich I had was good, but the sourdough bread tasted a little off. Maybe it was getting old or something. The cheese was good and the turkey was nice enough. The avocado was spread thinly but well. I always think fondly of avocado(guacamole) but I think I prefer it on a burger as opposed to a sammich. It was all relatively mundane, I must say. I guess I should come back and try something more dangerous and exciting. As it is, C McGee’s has merit but perhaps one needs to poke around the menu a bit to find what they like best. They also do coffee and specialty coffee drinks here, and I can see how it’d be a nice place to chill if you work nearby.

I like this place, as places/spaces go, but, for some reason, I always expect some stuffed to the gills delicious sandwich, and every time I’m disappointed. I’m always looking for more meat and cheese. Instead I get a sandwich, nothing special, nothing terrible, just the kind of sandwich your friend’s mom might have made when you were over playing on a Saturday. But they do come with a pickle and chips, which is more than I can say for death.

I really like C McGee’s. It’s a small deli within the Basset Creek building in the North Loop. They have so many different sandwiches… the last time I was here I had the ‘Rebecca’ which is a Rachel with pepperjack instead of swiss… yum! They have a deal where you get a half sandwich(any sandwich, too) and a side of chips and a pop for around $ 6. They also have some good potato and macaroni salad that you can get as a side, too, as well as an assortment of fancier salads(think walnut, bleu cheese, and fruit kind of stuff) It gets busy around lunchtime because I’m sure a lot of the building tenants go there, but the service is nice and quick! They also have some great sounding breakfast sandwiches… I can’t wait to stop in before work! It’s kind of hard to find(because it’s in an office building), but if you’re in the area for lunch(or breakfast) it’s a definite must-stop!

A buddy of mine and I took a quick bus to the outskirts of Minneapolis downtown and I brought a Groupon for $ 20. It was a smallish deli inside an office building. We stepped up to the ordering counter and the menu was large and full of delicious looking options. Seriously, there were about 40 different meal options and they had coolers full of salads and cookies. Everyone at the tables, seemed to love their plates of goodness. I ordered the chicken Philly cheese steak sandwich and my friend got the DJ Reuben, a little twist on the regular Reuben. We sat down and sipped on our Diet Cokes and our sandwiches came out after a few minutes. It came with chips, which were crunchy and salty(I know, AMAZING huh?!) My sandwich was full of juicy chicken with peppers and melted cheese on a wonderful, long bun. Each bite was full of juices and peppery flavor. I really liked it! My buddy let me try his sandwich and it was wonderful, great sauce and pastrami. It was also top notch. We both pondered how busy it would be if they could put it in the sky-way near Target HQ, or even a food truck in Downtown Minneapolis. The service was great at the counter and she even said«You have a few bucks left on your coupon, want a cookie or something? A great deli, just wish it were closer to Target HQ, so we could go more often!

People get confused about the location of this place because it has 2 locations that are only a few blocks apart and both are hard to spot. This listing is for their location inside of the Bassett creek building on 3rd street. They also are located in the Itasca building on 1st street. A good casual lunch. To find the one on 3rd, enter the main Bassett business center entrance, approach the elevators and look right. The Itasca one is visible from outside, right next to salon at the edge. If you work or live in the area it is a good place to get an affordable lunch or breakfast. A lot of cold and hot sandwich options and variety of breakfasts as well. I really like the parmesan turkey sandwich, they have some nice salads and a few baked goods as well.

Before their current location, C McGee’s was at 800 N Washington. I also believe at one time they had another café in the Itasca building on 1st Street. C McGee’s is a little gem for delicious food for North Loop lunch goers. In addition to a large sandwich and salad menu, they always have a few daily specials. Their full menu is online and you can call their phone to hear each day’s special. The staff is always friendly and tries to get you and your order through fast. The food is always good. It’s like your favorite foods with a gourmet twist that make them better. I was always impressed with the potato salad and their BBQ beef sandwich. The only thing I could see improved is portion. I’d rather have a smaller portion and $ 1 off the price than their huge portions that make me drowsy. You can sit down at their hodgepodge of tables and chairs or take it away or even delivery. I have never had a Saturday meal there, but recommend the breakfast sandwich if you’re hankering for something substantial in the morning! Go C for yourself!
