My wife and I have been here 3 times and we love it. The food, service and proximity to our house are all great. Very cozy and comfortable, the chefs plating, preparation and seasoning are always on point. This restaurant group is doing great things in south Minneapolis. BRAVO!

Restaurants like this are one of my top 2 reasons I love to visit Minneapolis(my amazing friends are the other reason). — Fantastic service from an incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic and attentive server. It’s great to see someone who takes so much pride in his work and what comes from this kitchen. — Amazing farm to table dishes… All 3 starters were on point — pig jowels, pork belly and the reconstructed turnip. Nice textures and flavors. I ordered the roasted duck breast — it goes into my top 3 – 4 poultry dishes ever. The duck was perfectly cooked, seasoned and the sauces and root vegetables accompanying it were perfect. The perfect winter dish! Ridiculous desserts… The candy bar inspired dessert was my favorite, but there was a ginger/chocolate cake that was also incredible. mmmmmmmm. — Cozy, intimate dining room Prices are reasonable given the quality of the food and portion size. This would be on of my favorite restaurants in the rotation if I lived here! My friends ordered the brisket and loved it too — cleaned their plates :)

Wonderful dining experience! The cons were that we waited 20 min for our reservation. They did offer to seat us at the bar which we declined, and also gave us a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. The tables were also quite close together. Both of these were not a big issue. The service was informal but extremely informative. Dane was our server and was knowledgable on the wine list and menu. We had the pork jowl and Swedish turnips for starters. The pork jowl was melt in your mouth amazingness, but could also feel my arteries begging me to stop. The turnip was a good contrast. We had an order of gnocchi which was like tiny pillows of loveliness and the sauce was delicious. Like lick the plate. We had the duck breast which was also wonderful. They did split plates which was nice. To end the meal we had the sweet potato donuts, which were fun and you could definitely taste the sweet potato. Tasty but probably wouldn’t get again. Would recommend without hesitation!

My wife and I have, for the past few years, treated ourselves to an indulgent meal instead of buying each other gifts at Christmas. This year, our restaurant of choice was Corner Table. We’d heard wonderful things about this place, including from the Über driver who took us there. While we saw and tasted some impressive items, the entire experience was a bit underwhelming. A few really great dishes and drinks were outweighed by poor timing of the meal, portion sizes that were much too small, and a few items that were not up to the standards that the high prices set out for this restaurant. Upon arrival, we were seated at a small table in a row along the side wall of the restaurant. The space is nice, but we expected a restaurant as pricey as this one to offer a place to hang our coats. No such luck here — we had to balance our bulky coats over the backs of our chairs. This is fine, I suppose, but it does make the chairs a lot less comfortable. A coat room or rack would be really helpful. Our server greeted us and asked for drink orders. We told her that we planned to order the tasting menu with the additional wine pairings, so she picked up our menus and the wine book and went on her way. Soon after, she returned with the amuse-bouche and two glasses of a really nice champagne as the first wine. We weren’t sure whether this wine was supposed to accompany an additional course or not, so after finishing the amuse, we kept sipping. Here’s where the timing started to go bad. It was at least 20 – 25 minutes between the amuse and the first course, and only toward the very end of that time did the server alert us that the champagne was, indeed, supposed to accompany the first course as well as the amuse. We were getting hungry by now, and saw that the table next to us had a basket of what looked like delicious bread. As we sat, waiting and waiting for our first course, we just wanted some bread, and we noted to one another that for $ 65 per person, a little bread should probably be included. But it wasn’t, so we sat, hungry, continuing to drink our wine. As a result, we had no wine left by the time the first course, a delicious carrot and squash soup, arrived. The second course was timed better. The wine was a fantastic Italian white, and the dish was a kind of gnocchi with a variety of delicious roasted vegetables atop a squash purée. The turnips were especially good, and the squash purée was delicious. However, it wasn’t delicious enough to make me want it served again later in the meal, which it was(see below). The third wine was a nebbiolo from Italy, to accompany a duck breast. The wine was great. The duck breast was pretty good, but nothing remarkable. As we reached course number four, the timing was thrown off again. We were served a slice of beef tenderloin before, and well before, our fourth wine arrived. The wine was, again, great — a wonderful, deep red from Portugal. The beef dish, though — wow. To be served this at this restaurant, for this price, was very surprising. The meat was overcooked. Badly. Tenderloin should be served rare. MAYBE medium-rare, if you’re nervous. This was served medium, or maybe even medium well. I’m sure that the beef was high quality and would have been flavorful if it had been served at a proper temperature, but for us, it was just badly overcooked. To make it worse, the main accompaniment was the very same squash purée that we’d been served a few minutes prior, in course number two. Maybe the kitchen was overstocked on squash or something. Maybe they ran out of whatever was supposed to accompany this. I hope it was something like that, because a restaurant shouldn’t be serving the same item twice over the course of an expensive tasting menu. Dessert was good — a «candy bar» accompanied by an Italian dessert wine. Our bill, including wine, tax, and tip, was not insignificant. For what we paid, I would expect a well-timed, well-executed meal that does not repeat items. I would expect to be served beef that’s not obviously and blatantly overcooked. I would also expect not to leave hungry, but we did, since each dish contained offered only a couple of bites of food. The wines, I will say, were excellent. So overall, good food, but a few mistakes, very small portions, and bad timing made it very underwhelming for the price.

Wow. Where do I begin. This place is outstanding. Great ambiance… fabulous wine list… delicious food… and super friendly and knowable staff. A group of coworkers were in town for business so I arranged a dinner for us to just kick back and relax and enjoy some good food. This was the perfect location. We started the night off with a couple of glasses of wine recommended by our server, Brent. They were great chooses. We then ordered a few starters. The bologna sandwich and pork belly do not disappoint. We then ventured to the pastas and got the gnocchi to share. Wow. It was great. For dinner we ordered the speck wrapped cod, roasted duck breast and the braised brisket. Again. Wow. So delicious. We wrapped up our amazing dinner with some French pressed coffee and their powder sugar covered donuts with amazing molasses dipping sauce. I would highly recommend visiting this gem. I have it 5-stars all around. Ask for Brent… he will not disappoint.

Meh. I came here with high hopes but really only the wine and the brisket lived up to expectations. It was 3 of us and we were seated right away though 2 of us arrived about 20 minutes before our reservation, which was nice. The space was comfy and nice, though a tiny bit chilly. For dinner we got a lovely bottle of a red blend from Santa Cruz, 1 side(Brussels sprouts with pancetta), 2 starters(pork belly with chow chow and the turnip with apple butter), and 3 mains(gnocchi, cassoulet, and brisket). The Brussels sprouts were fine but a little heavily sauced and lacking crispness that makes a good fried sprout. The pork belly was ok but the favors didn’t seem to totally come together(though we were told repeatedly by our waiter that it one best dish in Minneapolis). I did not try the turnip so it’s the one thing I can’t speak to. The gnocchi were the biggest disappointment – though the gnocchi themselves were pillowy and light the sauce and other ingredients were nearly without flavor. It was seriously just like eating plain gnocchi, which was too bad because the dish sounded delicious. The cassoulet was only ok as it was really huge in a shallow dish which meant it was overwhelmed by the breaking crust on top and very light on the beans. And it had so much pork belly and confit in it that I only managed to eat like 1⁄8 of the dish. The brisket was excellent – perfectly cooked with superb flavor and a hint of spice. If you go here, get this-though the portions on this are absurd as well. The service felt more like salesmanship which got overwhelming. Given all the awesome Minneapolis places, I don’t think I’ll be back.

Corner Table has been on my restaurant list for quite some time. So I was more than happy to accept my friend’s invitation for their Friday evening Restaurant Week reservation… it was the perfect way to end the week! There were four of us total and we all added the wine pairings with the Restaurant Week menu. It was also a plus going on the last day of Restaurant Week as our server, Siri, was able to give us the«dish» on what was popular and what other patrons had loved. Besides the food being delicious, our server Siri really made the entire dining experience absolutely delightful. She was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about each wine that she served and even though it was busy, she checked up on us when appropriate and spent the time to have fun conversation. What we chose to indulge in: Starters:(both were good, pork belly was the fav) — Radicchio salad sherry vin, roasted squash, pepitas and saba — Crispy pork belly, chow chow, chile-raisin sauce Entrees:(everything was delicious, large portions esp. for the cassoulet) — Cassoulet, knackwurst, duck confit, pork confit, northern beans, thyme broth, breadcrumb crust — Crispy Fried Cauliflower, fennel, pickled peppers, provolone picanté — Casoncelli Pasta, oxtail, soubise, brown butter, sage, sarvecchio cheese Desserts:(boys liked the donuts the most, us ladies liked the apple galette) — Sweet potato donuts, molasses and toffee cream — Apple Galette, spiced chantilly, brown butter caramel P. S. There is a small parking lot which is nice, we had a 5:30pm reservation so we were lucky to get a spot. Atmosphere is warm and quaint(the restaurant is not large), perfect for a date — they also have a small outside patio. My advice — go there and experience the greatness for yourself!

I’ve had two«occasion» meals here, celebrating family events. Both were really excellent … as they should be given the not-inexpensive menu. We’ve probably liked everything to do with pork best of all, but other dishes were also interesting and good without straying into precious or fussy territory. For example, a vegetarian appetizer(I don’t see it on the present menu … it’s probably seasonal) that included«Swedish turnip» was outstanding and creatively presented. Duck, salmon, and other seafood were good, too. The cheddar drop biscuits add a southern U.S. ambiance that somehow plays well with other, foodier things on the menu. Servers were friendly and knowledgeable. Possibly a hair talkier than necessary, but not problematically so. The place gets noisy when full. Ask for a table as far from the door and the kitchen as possible.

Step 1: Go to Corner Table Step 2: Order the Tasting Menu Step 3: Get Your Mind Blown We went to Corner Table with my husband and my VERYPICKY in-laws on Saturday night for dinner. My husband and I had not been here before, so it was a bit of a gamble. Usually we like to take them places we have already tried and loved and know not to be too spicy or too«weird»(their words, not mine). So I was a little nervous… We knew they had a tasting menu and our friend who is a chef at a different restaurant in town had told us JUSTORDERTHETASTINGMENU, DON’T EVENLOOKATTHEACTUALMENU. The only caveat is the ENTIRE table has to order the tasting menu so I was nervous before they read the courses aloud to my in-laws. But nothing was too«weird» so we went with it. We actually ordered the Tasting & Wine Pairing option together, which was such a fun experience. Our server was bright and knowledgeable and explained so much about all the wines(their origins, the grapes, the families that owned each vineyard). She also told us so much about the construction and concept for each dish, which we all found fascinating. She was seriously a star! And the food? The food was unforgettable! Each course was special and interesting and something I was not expecting. The Tasting Menu changes all the time, but the highlights from our experience were: 1) The lobster tortellini(I’m sure I’m forgetting one million modifiers and the head chef there will roll his eyes reading this and say«THEREWERESPECIALMUSHROOMSINTHERETOO!» or something. Oh well!), 2) Grilled peaches with prosciutto and manchego cheese. I know, I know… both of those things sound like dishes you would see while trolling Pinterest but I swear… each bite was unforgettable. As for logistics, the restaurant is small so I recommend making reservations in advance. We had to wait an additional 15 – 20 minutes after our reservation, but it wasn’t a big deal. There was plenty of parking in their little lot. The dress is a mixed bag since the spot is half casual neighborhood joint and half Fancy Event Dinner… so just be prepared to see some guys in Tevas and some guys in jackets. That’s about it. Totally unforgettable meal. Totally worth the money. Totally get the tasting menu.

**Restaurant Week — Summer 2015** Corner Table! Please, take all of my stars! My friend and I came here for Restaurant Week in July 2015(3 courses for $ 30 + $ 15 wine pairings), and it was everything I hoped it’d be. RW can be tricky. Some restaurants go all out to impress the people who flock to their doors. Or some get cheap and don’t give a sh*t. But Corner Table was sooo generous and accommodating. First things first, I got my friend to commit to ordering something different dishes than me for each course, and then exchanging half of our meals with each other. Love ya, Phoebe! Attached is a photo of the menu — we shared the crispy pork belly, crawfish bisque, smoked pork loin w linguica, olive crusted salmon, butterscotch panna cotta, and sweet potato donuts. If I went into raving details about each item, we would be here all day, because it’s likely I wouldn’t STFU. But overall, we loved every single thing! Our absolute favorites were the two appetizer courses. The pork belly was to die for — it had a thick crispy crust yet tender melt-in-your-mouth fat. I had no idea what«chow chow» was, but it turned out being a wonderful sweet and tangy marriage of sauerkraut and green tomato relish. My friend had never had a bisque of any sort before, bless her soul, and she was super pleased with the crawfish bisque. I assured it that it is indeed a thing, and that she can totally get it again, except it will probably never be as good as Corner Table’s. The salmon was super impressive. It was like butter, and the olive-crust was not overwhelming at all. I loved the way the panna cotta tasted and jiggled. And each wine pairing perfectly complimented our dishes and even introduced me to new things to drink a whole bottle of alone. To top it all off, the service was impeccable!

A delayed review, but the memory of this wonderful meal still dances on my tongue. It was a short ride from downtown to an unassuming spot. The menu is in continuous fluxes and always leaning heavily on local farms and foraging. I was fortunate to be their for the first of the local corn appearing throughout the menu and starring in a cold soup. Pork belly seems to be a chameleon among apps, changing with the season. My favorites were the crispy cauliflower as well as the pappardelle with duck heart ragu. That night there were also some foraged chanterelles that added a remarkable depth of flavor. The wine list was well crafted. Not an endless library, but a very well thought out selection that still left room for a few surprises. I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and attention to detail. The staff was warm and helpful throughout the night and made us feel at home.

Going to the Cochon 555 reigning champ was certainly an experience. 65 for the non wine tasting menu, 95 with. But we opted to try/share various dishes instead. In order: 4. Pork x3 in Korean broth– it was ok very one note the three porks are torchon, pork belly and sausage with fermented black beans. Some type of pickling element or acid would have been preferred. 3. Pork belly– the pickled cabbage is what made this dish. Pickled mustard seed also helped balance the dish. Two pickling elements to balance the dish. 2. Gnocchi– so we were told this is a new dish. The gnocchi is made from semolina flour! Still super light, fluffy, delicious, flavorful. This place knows how to do gnocchi right! 1. Pork jowl– fish sauce, vermicelli noodles, tarragon, chives. My goodness– pork chop com tam on roids. This was amazing. I could eat an entire bowl of this on its own. Perfectly balanced with tons of flavor! Try this place. It’s worth the trip wherever you’re from!

I don’t think there is a word in the english dictionary to explain how good this food was. We came here with some friends to catch up as we hardly ever see them one on one. Now at this point what we ordered has probably rotated off the menu, but I will say that anything you get here will be delicious. I had a gnocchi dish. I am a huge gnocchi fan, and this was melt in your mouth delicious. Gnocchi is a dish that has to be executed perfectly. The slightest imbalance will ruin your pasta. The gnocchi here was like little pillows that melted in symphony of flavors. The real highlight for me was the pork belly. As much as I love gnocchi I LOVE pork and pork belly. I’ve had some truly amazing pork belly and I’ve had some really bad pork belly. This was one of the best, if not the best, that I have ever had. The top was crispy with that familiar bacon flavor. The majority was a rich and creamy fat. That combination of crispy with the creamy rich flavors nearly knocked me back off my chair. I saw the pork belly on the menu still so it is a definite must. The drinks here were also wonderful. The beer not only reflects what is in season(yes beers have seasons) but also what will pair well with the menu. Having a good drink that compliments your food is something most people don’t think about. Here at least they help you by picking great beers that also go well with their food, instead of just picking beer. The service was spot on too. My fiancé was a huge klutz throughout the meal. The waitress politely left his drink without interrupting his conversation. I told him it was next to him and the next thing I know it is all over the table. He foolishly wasn’t paying attention and knocked it everywhere. This almost happened a second time. Our waitress was very kind and helped clean it up with a smile. She had a good sense of humor about the entire evening. Good food, service with a smile, and fantastic drinks. What more do you need to know? 49⁄100

Amazing restaurant. Highly recommend this place. Asparagus salad was amazing. I was surprised to see white asparagus. I love them. gnocchi was delicious. It melt in my mouth. Great flavor with different kind of mushrooms. Stake was very tender and flavorful. The risotto that came as a side was also delicious. Halibut was good. But I definitely enjoyed the stake and the gnocchi more. Overall, this is a great place. Nice ambience and the service was also amazing. The waitress was very attentive and very knowledgeable of all the dishes.

Came here for an early V-Day dinner slash welcome home dinner with my hubby, sister and brother. My sister had been wanting to eat here and had found it in the top 50 restaurants in MN list somewhere. Restaurant is located in a small little area, very cozy and you best have a reservation no matter what day or time because we had an early reservation at 5 and were late due to traffic and they had to tell us there was another reservation at 7:30, which we had no issue with since we had to be back by a certain time as well. The menu is seasonal and boasts a tasting menu of 5 courses for $ 65 per person with the stipulation that if you choose this route, the whole table has to participate. Even though what the tasting menu was sounded good, after looking at the menu we felt we would be better off ordering a number of items from each category and sharing with the table. For starters we ordered the pork belly, bologna sandwich, the charcuterie platter, pork jowl and sturgeon. We chose a pasta dish of Corzetti with lamb Ragu and for entrees we chose were: the choucroute garnie, knockwurst, smoked pork loin, pork belly(basically pork 4 ways); roasted ham wrapped monkfish; and roasted duck breast. We also decided to include the cheddar biscuits and fingerling potatoes cooked in duck fat as sides to eat with the entrees. Where to begin. mostly everything was memorable but let me highlight a few: 1. The pork jowl was marinated in Asian spices and cooked similar to BBQ and came with vermicelli noodles in an Asian inspired sauce. Reminds me of Vietnamese BBQ pork salad that I grew up with but with an American and modern twist to it. 2. Charcuterie platter was amazing!!! Pâté galore with a new little pork encroute I have never seen or had before, all made in house. They included some really good mini popovers that I wish they had more of versus the crostinis. 3. Roasted Ham wrapped monkfish was so delicious! I can’t even describe the flavors you get with this dish, but just know fish was cooked to perfection and it was a great balance of all the ingredients included. 4. Finally, one of the dishes I would come back for is actually the side of cheddar biscuits. All I can say is people crave the Red Lobster biscuits but once you have had the ones at Corner Table, you can’t even call those biscuits! In house made biscuits with a gooey layer of cheese that has been melted on top which makes it a memorable flavor I cannot describe but you just have to try it! Great food, great atmosphere, so good and cannot wait to come back for more!

Dinner. Sat night. Let’s begin… 6 of us. We had a nice corner table(heyooooo) up front by the windows. Things I notice: We can have a conversation and hear each other. Neighborhood restaurant vibe on the classier side — but still casual. Older crowd — but we were there for an early dinner so that makes sense. Food plating is pretty but not annoyingly pretty. This is a good thing. Server: Why do I always forget names? Anyways. She was great all night. Waters full, knowledgeable about the menu, present but not overbearing. Good wine & beer selection. No spirits. Eats(we doubled up a few of these): Bologna sandwich. What I now want for bfast everyday. Pork jowl. Worked really well with the vermicelli & flavors. Tasty. Drop biscuits. Cheesy, herby, bready goodness. Cavatelli. This was exceptional. Love the sausage in this dish. Gnocchi. Mild and buttery smooth. Pork belly/sausage. No complaints here. Crispy curried cauliflower. Wow. Large portion, surprising amounts and levels of flavors. Brussel sprouts. Cooked perfectly. Fingerling potatoes. Unexpected highlight. Cooked in duck fat. Gahhh. Another S. Mpls highlight. Very interested in coming back to try the Chef’s menu.

@FancyDinnerClub: Dear Corner Table, You deserved better. As a contender for best meal in Minneapolis, I should have given you the courtesy to write up my review on time. I will try to make up for the lost time as best I can. I remember we started off with some appetizer: a crispy duck confit and pork jowl. The former was maybe good? I’ll give the benefit of the doubt, it was 85% probably good. The jowl was tender and delicious. The sweet corn panna cotta and chile raisin sauce that came with were a welcome and interesting touch. That dish was just Texture City, USA in general. When it came to entrees, we were told we should expect a hearty meal. The waste-line of my pants later learned this to be true, but right then the evidence was right in front of us in the form of a giant 40 ounce rib-eye delivered to man who could only be described as appropriately Fred Flintstone-esque. Unafraid, we ordered feijoada(we didn’t know what it was either, so obviously we wanted it), brisket, and cauliflower(of course). Our waiter also implied that we would be idiots not to get the goat cheese biscuits. He would have been right. We’ll start with the feijoada, which turns out was a Portuguese pork stew. While I had very little to complain about, this is where you made a mistake, CT. Can I call you CT? I feel like we’re getting to know each other so well. Anyways, the food was delivered with the instructions to make sure to get some orange in with the rest of the components of the stew. While this was great advice, the two measly orange slices provided weren’t quite enough for the massive plate of food. That being said, if I hadn’t known what I was supposed to do with this dish, I wouldn’t have really mentioned it. The sausage and pork belly provided some solid protein variety(I think the sausage was the consensus winner in the battle of the porks), and the beans had a good kick to them. Next came the cauliflower. We were basically sold on the description: «crispy curried cauliflower, beluga lentils, sweet garlic and chile sauce». Game over. We probably could have not even have eaten the dish and been satisfied just from reading the ingredients. Wait, what am saying? Sometimes you make me say crazy things, CT, you and your delicious food. Fried perfectly, nice amount of heat, and just a beautiful dish in general. Finally came the brisket. You really outdid yourself on this one, CT. I would say if there was one dish that perfectly embodied your spirit of creating hearty, well-executed food, this would be the one. On its surface, the dish was very simple: meat, grits, greens. But it was so much more. You already know that though, CT. You knew what you were doing slow-roasting the brisket to perfection, adding the right amount of texture to the grits, and dousing the whole number in an outrageous mystery sauce. I hope you realize now that I haven’t forgotten about you, CT. Sure, I may have included a picture from a different restaurant for the duck confit, and I did just refer to the accompaniment for the brisket as «outrageous mystery sauce» solely because I don’t remember what it tasted like, but one thing I do know is this: you do food right. The four of us were so delirious from being stuffed full of tasty food that we spent the entire car ride home talking about how much we enjoy our time together at FDC every month. You know, friendship and that kind of nonsense. We also all felt bad that you were excluded from the FDC awards last month, because you had some votes for the top spot in the cities. Oh, and that southern comfort food restaurant your owners are opening up? Count us in. See ya soon, Drew and the FDC Crew

This review is only for dessert and it is probably a 4.5 overall. Décor and service-top notch. Our waitress was friendly and not overbearing. Easy parking outside. Sweet potato donuts and apple galette. The apple galette is one of the best I have ever had! Absolutely delicious. The donuts(recommended) didn’t do it for me. Beautiful presentation but the flavor wasn’t there. Not enough sweet potato and the molasses dipping sauce was watery and too powerful. Other tables were ordering what looked like some of the best food I have ever seen! I can’t wait for a special occasion to go there for dinner!

After experiencing Corner Table’s tasting menu, the restaurant has definitely earned a rating upgrade from me. I love the new space and appreciated al fresco dining on the outdoor patio. Before our meal began we were treated to yummy and airy bread with a great crust and whipped butter. I find that delicious bread along with butter that can actually be spread is a good omen of the meal to come. And I wasn’t disappointed. Our first dish was marinated tomatoes in a creamy sauce, followed by potato and goat cheese terrine, sweet corn tortellini, pork belly, lamb, and then dessert. There were three options for dessert and three diners, which worked out fairly well for me! Options included my favorite sweet potato donuts along with a panna cotta and chocolate financier. One of our party opted for the wine pairing. While the wines were quite good, they provided really skimpy pours for the price. However, each dish served was very delicious. I can now solidly recommend Corner Table as a go-to dining destination and am looking forward to returning as well.
