Why did I not fall in love with this place like everyone else has? I am all about bargains on furniture. And, I’m generally okay with buying new pieces. The owner seems to keep her FB page pretty up-to-date with photos of new merch. These pretty pics and stellar reviews on Unilocal lured me to Covet. But, I was pretty disappointed with the goods when I arrived. Many were a bit too worn out(clearly used) and old-fashioned(«vintage»?). Given the condition, regardless of whether the furniture was originally very expensive/high quality, I would be unable to justify the prices, even if I found the pieces desirable. Perhaps, I just have a different taste in design and cannot appreciate what is offered here, as I’m clearly in the minority with my opinion.

After having driven past this place on the way home from work about a hundred times, I finally stopped in this afternoon — only to discover that it is as charming as it seems from the outside. Although I didn’t make a purchase, the collection the owners have amassed is impressive. Covet doesn’t overwhelm you with clutter when you first walk in the door like so many other consignment/thrift places; everything has its place and gets its own chance to shine. I admired a lovely little end table that was on display in the front window and reasonably priced — the woman working told me that it was refurbished by a local craftsman who had taken the top from one table and the legs from another, then helpfully pointed out the craftsman’s other works in the shop. If I had a pressing need to furnish or decorate, I’d definitely end up here early in my journey for inspiration(and to help keep to my budget).

Adorable store. I always have to do about 3 laps of the place, first to admire how charmingly everything is displayed, then to actually notice the things they have, then finally decide what I’d want to buy. It’s a good mix of nice furniture and smaller pieces. They apparently recently expanded to the basement of the building, so I’m excited to check out the expanded space soon. They also do custom framing. The staff(owner?) is always really helpful and happy to answer questions. They also post pictures of many of their items on facebook, which I really appreciate!

Having been raised in a fiercely evangelical home, the term«covet» has always come with a little tiny feeling of shame(a la the 10 commandments and all…). Thanks to this pretty little thrifters’ find, I can shed any guilt I may have been harboring. Owner Christy Frank achieves her goal of consciously bringing sustainable, accessible design to her clientele. She brings together quirky and stylish finds that are altogether reasonably priced and that make you say, «that’s exactly what I didn’t know I was looking for!» There is a sentimental chic way about the place. I haven’t yet been able to leave the shop without a purchase: retro earthenware, a mid-century end-table, even mini glass Pyrex dishes we now use as a butter dish or an eco-friendly way to bring leftovers to work. Look for Second Thursdays coming soon which will showcase various local artists’ work( ) and double as the perfect social event for an almost-weekend evening. Another thing to note about this shop is that it is a great place to have artwork framed at a much more reasonable price(and more customizable options) than going to that high-priced frame shop in the mall. Check it out! Final thought: I must second Annie’s recommendation. Definitely stop by the Blue Ox for a delicious cuppa beforehand for an even more blissful shopping experience.

Covet has been open since July 2011, even moving locations during that time. I ask you, how has this store escaped a thrifter like me for so many months? After a cup of extra-delicious coffee next door at Blue Ox, I wandered into Covet to check things out. It’s a positively beautiful home consignment and custom framing shop. Things I liked: –The merchandise isn’t crowded and overwhelming. It’s well-placed and well-chosen. The owners definitely have good taste. –Reasonable prices. For the quality and coolness level, I thought the prices were a’ight. My favorite thing in the place(a white desk with a white porcelain-looking top) was marked down multiple times to just $ 68 or something. –Bright interior. It’s very cute in here. Now I just need new living quarters so I can re-decorate!

Prices? Good. Styles? Mid-century modern, contemporary, and country farm. Mirrors ranged from $ 45 – 80, different floor lamps cost about $ 80, a very beautiful(and BIG) armoire was listed for about $ 900. I will be going back to check out a white tufted armchair(not priced yet) and a farm-style wooden dining table($ 299) and bench($ 69). The co-owner said the dining table was made by a store worker. Sweet! This store just relocated and is a few doors down from the Blue Ox Coffee Company. In fact, there is a grand opening party going down next weekend on Sat Oct 8, 7−11pm, and with live music: I love how this store has specific styles of furniture, as opposed to, say, random junk. The owner seems pretty selective about what she brings in. From what I can tell, the husband/wife team offers framing services(see back of store), and the wife has a degree in fine arts.

Great shop! Interesting, sometimes quirky, well designed furniture, art, and home décor & very reasonable prices. Well worth checking out.
