came here to get some flowers for my father-in-laws grave. wanted individual flowers but they were $ 3 a piece so we got a dozen flowers for $ 16 instead. roses were not as big but they were nice looking.

I have been going to this cub weekly ever since it took over this location a couple years ago. I do see some regular faces of people who have been there since the beginning but not many, the turn over seems to be high. The good thing is that most of the employees I have talked to are friendly. It’s a good grocery store to get the basics at. Fresh meats and fish are not here. The fish sometimes looks grey and I watched the guy in the meat department fix his nasty hat about 15 times while he was handling and packaging someone’s food. He likes to grab the brim with his gloved hand and the brim is coated in dirt, grease, and some other unrecognizable substances… Eeek. Anyway I go to a lot of grocery stores weekly and I don’t think the produce is over priced at all. I think the prices are reasonable and I think the store is clean. It could use an update but it’s fuctional.

I’m not really sure where so much animosity for this store comes from. It’s a regular grocery store. The aisles are not that narrow. They have a pretty standard selection of… basically everything you would want in a grocery story. Still not used to MN not selling alcohol in grocery stores, but, alas, what can we do?(Lake Street is like half a mile away and has a great selection.) I’m here about once a week and it’s a fine experience 95% of the time. The parking lot is kind of a mess sometimes, but I almost always walk here. And there is one cashier whose name I don’t know who always charges me wrong for my produce… I think he might be the manager?(I always buy the $ 1.79/lb conventional apples and he’s charged me for the $ 4.99/lb organic kind a couple times.) I’ve taken to using the self checkout when I have just a few things to avoid frequent long-ish wait times. Keep your rewards number handy to punch in for your coupons. The only really poor experience I’ve had here was when a person who was rather homeless-looking was hopping lines looking mournful(complete with exaggerrated coin counting and dropping) and getting people to buy him one item at a time.(Seriously? Why didn’t the employees ask him to leave??? Or at least ask him to stop asking people to buy him things?)

This was my first experience at a Cub Foods and I don’t know… I felt pretty meh about it. The aisles were narrow, the produce section was okay, but not the freshest I’ve seen, and the customer service wasn’t impressive.

Unlike previous Unilocal reviewers I don’t mind this cub. It’s the closest large grocery store to my house and I can bike here. The parking lot fill fast on Sunday’s but if you park at cvs or on the street you’ll be fine. The store is fairly small compared to the newer ones but they only had so much space to work with. The layout can be challenging if looking for something specific. Good news is its so small you can’t really get lost. Cub is and will be my go to place for the prices and convenience.

Much like the Rainbow that occupied this space prior this store it is completely saturated with in the way hipsters and people who think they understand technology until they get to the self checkout and have a Rain Man style meltdown because they can’t figure out how to look up produce codes or pay for their shit. However, it is cleaner than Rainbow and the deli has sanitation standards — so that’s a plus. And unlike Rainbow they don’t seem to have issues keeping their shelves stocked. Customer service isn’t good or bad because it’s retail and we’re lucky these people show up every day to put up with our bullshit. Thank you and your eternal resting bitch faces, cashiers. #theagitationisrealfolks The parking lot is still a literal fucking nightmare because it’s Uptown and people here can’t drive, they don’t pay attention where they’re walking, and everyone in this godforsaken neighborhood(which I begrudgingly love) has entitlement issues. So yeah. On the plus side, it’s cleaner and better stocked. The downside, the customers are still from Uptown and the parking lot still sucks. What else can I say? Cub is the $ 5 handjob of the grocery store world.

This is my first 1 star review. For those of us who live in the Uptown area and want to be as green as possible, we are kind of held hostage in the winter time. However, I thought the shadow of the former Rainbow(taken over by Cub) was too large for Cub foods. I don’t know what magic Rainbow had, because it was their best Rainbow grocery store in their chain. It was a sad day when Cub bought this store. So, we walk in to see what they have and haven’t done. The produce selection is horrible and overpriced. Aldi is starting to look really good. Lund’s or Kowalski’s or the Wedge… is a better alternative. Cleanliness seems to be always an issue and stock levels are always low on ‘sale’ items. I try only to get what I need if I have to come here at all. I don’t get it. I used to feel happy walking into this place… but then the big red sign went up and poof, that je né sais quoi, was gone. Rainbow, we miss you.

Dear Uptown Cub, I HATEYOU I HATEYOU I HATEYOU. I gave you some time to work on yourself as you got established, but you’ve instead established yourself as the cesspool of grocery stores. First of all, you made the decision to narrow EVERYSINGLEAISLE to make room for an extra-wide seasonal gift/school supply/greeting card aisle. You are not a big store and that ish is not only nonessential, it makes shopping at every other part of the store that much more unpleasant during high traffic times when you have to constantly maneuver around carts in an extra-cramped space. Adding to that, you always have your stockers out blocking everything during the most high-traffic hours. Despite the constant presence of stockers, the shelves are often bare for miles in certain sections. You manage to always be out of or straight-up not carry the super basic thing I’m looking for. For weeks, you didn’t have frozen spinach in any brand. I actually took the time once to check and you just weren’t even carrying it. You’ve since added frozen spinach in one brand, so good for you. You rely much more on physical coupons than marked sales for any sale that’s decent. For the decent sales that don’t require coupons, they often ring up as the regular price! I remember that happening like once in all my years at Rainbow. And I still can’t figure out how to open your stupid produce bags. Uptown Cub, I hate you so much you make me want to move. I hate you so much you make me want to go corporate so I can shop at Kowalski’s. I hate you so much you make me want to cryogenically freeze myself until a time in the future when grocery shopping is unnecessary because we are all nourished directly from our smartphones. Hate, Cassandra

When Roundy’s was still in town, competition thrived and kept food prices moderately affordable. This location always had narrow aisles –just try shopping when you have a disability and have to use the electric cart. And, that’s not to mention that no matter which Cub you shop, prices and products vary or are non-existent. In many cases, Byerly’s/Lunds ae cheaper — when you consider that Byerly’s/Lunds, Kowalski’s and almost every food store in the Twin Cities get their distribution from Super Valu’s Distribution Center in Hopkins. Don’t pay attention to those fancy trucks advertising their brands — it’s all fake. I’ve even seen Asian Foods trucks at the loading docks at the Super Valu Distribution loading docks. Don’t look behind that magic curtain ;-). As a result of my mobility issues, I only shop at Cub for certain things and they have to have a sale price and I can use coupons. Otherwise I do almost all of my food shopping at Aldi’s and Trader Joe’s because of low food costs, higher quality, and variety. Anything else, I shop and buy online with no tax and free door-to-door delivery.

It’s just alright. I can get most of the things I need here during my weekly grocery shopping trips. Their produce selection can be hit or miss, and sometimes their prices seem a lot higher than other stores. They don’t have a huge selection of vegetarian/vegan products or organic stuff — the Knollwood Cub is much better for that stuff. The aisles are also kinda narrow so it is hard to look at stuff without someone bumping into you. I’ll keep going because it’s convenient, but it’s not the best.

The first 2 weeks were a positive improvement with better staff then it just kept going downhill. It really turned into a dump/cluster****. Aisles are too narrow constantly bumping into the odd crowd of people that shop there. Selection went down of food to make room for walmart type products. Prices on food went up. Organic selection is small and over priced. The Wedge in uptown has great prices on produce, the organic collection there is cheaper than Cubs not organic options.

Nice to see a Cub here instead of a Rainbow. Cub has started cleaning up what was a dated, dirty Rainbow. My only real complaint is the same one I have at every Cub… 13 checkout lines with only 2 open and crazy long lines. Cub, PLEASE do something about your customer service!

I got food poisoning from the salad bar on 8÷30÷14. I wrote them an email informing them about this, I never got a response. I’ll take my business elsewhere from now on.

Lower prices, NOT. Half n half, celery, the basic things are higher. Then the revolving lower price thing. Water 24 bottles at $ 4 one week then buy 3 for $ 9.99 then back to the higher price, really? Like I’m going to walk home with 3 – 24 packs of water. No double coupon days here. The cub foods plastic bags are smaller but the shopping carts are nicer.
