Friendly staff. Dank food. Nuff said. Really though I’m just adding some Text down here so Unilocal thinks this review is a little longer than what it really is.

This review is for the people who are looking for authentic Japanese dishes… This restaurant is NOT the place you are looking for. I came here for lunch with my friends, who love the real Japanese food. Our conclusion of this lunch is that this place is Asian-fusion restaurant. We shared poke, and took Ramen, Karaage donburi, and cold noodle for each. Poke was good, the taste was original, more spicy than I expected. I took Karaage donburi, and it was the best choice of all. Their Karaage was the fried chicken thigh with spicy mayo, it was good but it wasn’t the Japanese Karaage. I liked the half-raw egg came with The karaage, it deepened The taste of Karaage. The ramen was ok, it was not the good ramen through. The cold noodle was the last dish you should order… it was kind of salad and noodle, it looked healthy but too healthy to enjoy The lunch. The noodle itself was white and thick, I don’t know what was that noodle. This dish was one of the worst dish I have ever taken in Twin cities. We sat at the newly opened patio, so it made our lunch better. However, I think I will never use this restaurant in the future.

I was so looking forward to this place! However I wasn’t that impressed. It’s a cute little place with nice décor. I came here with my sister for dinner. Honestly none of the foods appealed to my palate nor did the presentation. I enjoyed the pork belly steamed bun the most but my sister wasn’t a fan of the bun, she thought the pork belly was too dry. We had the kimchi fries that everyone raved about. It wasn’t anything special. Fries were kind of soggy. The poke didn’t have rice with it… I thought poke came with rice. It was my first time trying it. Oh well, maybe I thought wrong. Not a fan of it. We also had the tantanmen ramen based on the Unilocal reviews. Noodles were al dente! But the broth was so thick. I didn’t care for the flavor. I love a good ramen broth. This place didn’t have it. Spent 40. I don’t think it was worth it. Their ramen bowl is not worth $ 14. I was really disappointed. I’ve always been skeptical of Asian fusion places. Sorry for the harsh review. I think maybe my palate is just too Asian! A little too American trying to be Asian for me.

I was craving some ramen and decided to check this place out. I ordered the house ramen, and of the other places in Minneapolis I’ve had ramen this was my favorite. The pork was very tender and the egg was perfectly cooked. I usually end up leaving some broth behind but this time I couldn’t, it was too good. I am looking forward to bringing friends here for some drinks and ramen!

Manager was knowledgable and friendly at the bar. Food was good, but could have been a touch hotter on the noodles. Pleasant atmosphere and lots of waving cats!

I was very happy to hear Northeast had a ramen place opening up and I immediately wanted to give it a try. I have been here twice. We sat at the bar area each time. The most recent visit we came around 10:30pm on a Saturday and the place was empty, besides one other couple on the patio and their employees. This was a little disappointing because you want a lively experience, especially on a Saturday night. I was craving ramen, so I tried the Domo Ramen and my boyfriend had the Kimchi Ramen… both different and good. I’ve had my fair share of ramen and they weren’t my favorite, but satisfying enough for my craving. We also ordered the kimchi fries, egg rolls and crispy brussels sprouts. Kimchi fries were tasty and reminded me of an asian poutine… the domo sauce was delicious, I was hoping the kimchi would have a little bit more bite to it, but overall tasty. Brussels sprouts were spot on, so much flavor! Excited to come back and try more.

The water was nice. We were seated, given water and told our server would be with us shortly. The entire restaurant was about 1⁄3 full. We sat for 25 minutes and watched the servers walk past us and not acknowledge we were there. The food smelled good. But after almost a half hour without even giving our drink order we had to leave.

Disclaimer: This is a belated review. My friend and I came to Domo Gastro back in January and at the time it had only been open for about a month so it was fairly new. The location is good and the restaurant wasn’t terribly hard to find. They don’t have their own parking lot but there are lots of free street parking. We went on a Wednesday night so it wasn’t busy at all and we were seated immediately. All the staff were really friendly and our waitress was helpful with menu suggestions! In regards to food… Maybe I went there on an off day but I really wasn’t feeling the kimchi ramen and neither was my friend. However, we DID enjoy the kimchi cheese fries. The portion was plentiful and flavorful! I’d probably go back to give their ramen another try but definitely will be back for their kimchi fries and maybe a few other apps :)

It’s a cute little place on Central Ave. It could be easily missed. The staff is super nice. Food: Pork belly bao — had some high expectations because how do you mess it up. It was fine, but I wouldn’t order t again. It was a thin slice of pork belly and the flavor of that was a bit masked by the Siracha and pickled vegetables. The bao was nicely steamed except that they pan fried the bottom making it chewy. Domo Ramen — broth is good by runs on the sweet side. I was expecting more savory. Tan taken Ramen — this one I’m a bit more of a fan of Honestly, the ramen just didn’t hit the mark for me. I’m willing to definitely give them a second shot; they’re fairly still new. They have a great local craft beer list on tap and it looks like it’s a pretty cool space at night. There’s definitely promise.

3.5 Stars rounded up. 4 stars for the venue, 3ish for the food. Brussels sprouts were crispy, flavorful and the best of what we tried… for those sensitive to salt, it is on the highest end of my personal threshold. The twice fried chicken wings were good… but a little weird. The breaking was crispy with a sweet soyish flavor. What was odd was the chicken tasted unnaturally plump, not sure what they inject in them to get that texture. For entrees, we tried the bang bang chicken bowl and the chicken sandwich. Breading on the chicken was tasty with a Sri racha type of flavoring. Sandwich was served on focaccia like bread and was good. Service was slow… and there was only one other couple in the whole place. Overall, worth a try!

Came back again to try out their poke during late dinner time. This time I ordered the pork belly bun(again) and the poke. My friend ordered the poke, twice fried wings, and kimchi fries. The pork belly bun came out first. This time, the pork belly was not as big. Also, there was not much of a sriracha taste this time, but more of a mayo and hoisin sauce taste. Besides the cut of pork belly being smaller than last time, it was still very delicious and one of my favorites at this restaurant. The poke came out after. I was really excited for this dish because I have always heard about how good poke was in general. The portion was snack or smaller size, which is good to lightly fill you up. The flavor is more on the sour and citrus side. It tastes exactly like Naem, a raw fermented and sour pork sausage. The first few bites were refreshing and nice. However, on a personal preference, after a few more bites, the taste got really tiring and overwhelming. I also tried some of my friend’s twice fried wings. The wings were not as crispy, since it was drenched in their sauce. The sauce has a little quick kick of fish sauce, but that’s all there is to it. Okay overall. The kimchi fries were a bit too salty this time. Really big size and great dish to share with the table, though. Overall, my experience at Domo Gastro this time was okay. The service was good, waiter did his job. The food we had ranged from okay to good, and showed me that there may be a few inconsistencies with the dishes. I still love their pork belly bun, and would recommend it though. If you’re looking for a nice and cool spot, good drinks, with some creative Asian dishes and soups, I would say give Domo Gastro a try.

Had some awesome pork belly bun sandwiches post Vegas lounge and they were on point!!! I took them to go and put sriracha on them… yummmmm. Perfect late night snack. Can’t speak for the ramen, I’ll have to come back and check it out.

We had the Domo Ramen and the Kimchee Ramen. I enjoyed both. Not a ramen expert by any means, but wasn’t sure where the bad reviews were coming from. The broth in both ramens was the chicken/pork broth which was very flavorful and the right amount of saltiness. There was plenty of veggies and noodles in both as well and a perfectly cooked egg on top. My critiques are that pork belly in the Domo Ramen was really fatty, I wouldn’t have been able to eat it. And my Kimchee Ramen should have been a little spicier. It also had less than a spoonful of meat in the whole bowl. I also didn’t like the egg roll, it was pure meat. I think that is Vietnamese style, but I’m not a fan. I also think the required 20% tip is pretty steep. I generally tip 20% if I had great service, not as a baseline. Great beer selection, craft cocktails, and a few wines, although we ordered 2 beers that they were out of but that they hadn’t taken off the menu. It took until our third try for them to have the beer we ordered.

Yum, yum, and yum. The food here is fantastic. I shared four small plates with a friend and they were each delicious while still very unique. We had the steamed pork buns, egg rolls, fried cauliflower, and Kim chi fries. Even though they have received rave reviews on the egg rolls, that was probably the dish I liked least — but it was still awesome! The cauliflower was seasoned and cooked perfectly with a creamy dipping sauce. The pork buns had a soft, steamed texture but the pork itself was tender and flavorful. I wanted to give this place 4 stars because it deserves it… but the cocktails were not great. I am no expert but I do know what I like and the balance in both of the ones I had was off. Too much bitter, not enough flavor. Service was fine and atmosphere is cute. I will absolutely go back. No question about it.

I like the ambiance and feel of this new spot. We were seated right away, and our waitress was really nice. We ordered the Domo Ramen bowl, and shared it since we weren’t extremely hungry, but wanted a taste of the ramen. We each got a beer to go along with it. The ramen was not the best I have ever had, but it was satisfying. I loved the thicker noodles in it and the pork belly was pretty good. My boyfriend enjoyed the flavor of the broth, but I felt that it lacked flavor. I have been to Japan and had the authentic ramen over there a lot, so I could be a bit biased. At some point, we probably will come back and try some other dishes. I’m excited to see how this place progresses over the years!

First thing’s first… F U SIRI, YOUALMOSTMADEMEDRIVEINTO A TREE trying to find this restaurant. If you are going to use apple maps, DON’T. This restaurant is across from LUSH, like on the same side of the street, not on the Vegas Lounge side according to Siri. Any who, if you are a fan of World Street Kitchen, you will like Domo Gastro. If WSK and Bar Luchador had a baby, it would be this place because of the trendy interior and eclectic fusion menu. The vibes/general style of food presentation are very similar. They are experimenting with the staffing situation here so the rotate their staff and cross train them to try out every role in the restaurant… so one night a person could be your waiter the next night they could be the chef. I think our waiter was in the kitchen or the bar the night before he served us cause he seemed really nervous going while serving us. Regarding the bill policy, they either do one tab or all separate tabs but they do not split checks. Something to know is that right now, they are automatically adding 20% for gratuity whether you are there alone or with 10 people. Not sure how that’s going to go but we’ll see what other Unilocalers say. Food was great and very fresh tasting Here’s a run down of what we had: Kimchi fries with egg: the large order is good for a table of four. Fresh cut fries drizzled in cheese, sautéed kimchi, and scallions/onions. This might be the inner fat kid in me but I feel like they would have tasted better with some maple bacon… or a bunch of japanese mayo on top. Twice Fried Chicken Wings: These were the highlight for me tonight. These wings are crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. There is a sweet yet citrusy flavor which I think compliment each other really well. Could have been spicier but SO good with the rice from the karage chicken bowl. Karage chicken rice bowl: very similar to the rice bowl at World Street Kitchen. It’s a very big rice bowl with eel sauce, karage chicken, scallions, poached egg, and sesame seeds. This is good enough for two or three people to share. The chicken was nice and crispy while still juicy and flavorful. Banana lumpia: people. The banana wasn’t overly ripe so it was a good firm and almost plantain like which went well with the caramel sauce that had ginger and lime in it. The lumpia wrapper was super crispy and thin so it was perfecto in my eyes. The owner, Joe? said we were the first customers to ever try it so that was pretty cool, There’s free parking behind the restaurant or else street parking all over the place. Definitely going to hit this place up a lot.

I like to give new restaurants the benefit of the doubt. They are still getting their standings and lord knows it ain’t easy to be perfect at something on your first try. It’s like harping on a baby when he doesn’t know how to walk yet, ya know? So I would opt to give Domo a 4 out of 5 stars with these things considered: Location/setting: 4⁄5 Food: 3⁄5 Service: 5+/5 There is free street parking and a lot in the back, accessible if you approach the one-way street from the south. Score! The inside is looking pretty good, with tall ceilings and large windows, and wood on wood. And the server we had the other night was impeccable — just a super friendly and funny dude that offered great service and jokes. Now onto the food… — Kimchi fries: a fave of the table! The fries alone were perfectly cut, seasoned and fried. I loved the Domo sauce, creamy and tangy. However, our egg was very undercooked, half of the whites were still clear. They could have used some spice too. — Twice Fried Wings: the chicken itself was cooked to perfection, super crispy on the outside and still very juicy on the inside! Yet it could have used some more salt. Don’t expect spicy Korean wings, these are true to their description and have just a sweet and citrusy profile. — Savory Umami Burger: I was really excited for this guy, yet was a little disappointed. It was indeed a juicy burger, but it came out medium/medium-well, and I like mine medium rare. I wish it was more savory too, especially since their cooked kimchi tastes more like sweet caramelized onion than the spicy/salty/funky kimchi I crave. — Hmong Sausage Bang Mi: Delicious and spicy! Another fave! — Karaage Chicken Rice Bowl: The chicken was amazingly crispy, yet very fatty on the inside. I loved the flavor of the breading, though. I really enjoyed all of the flavors of this bowl, just a few things need to be executed a little better, like the small amount of sauce being buried on the bottom and the egg being mostly clear again. I absolutely love the concept and the flavor combos going on here. I look forward to coming back and seeing if there are some improvements!

Overall Experience: Underwhelming, I had high hopes after seeing a fusion of Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese food on the menu but sadly :’(I have to say the food was oily, salty and unbalanced which was a huge let down. Taste: The SUH burgers had too much oil so the bun became an oil sponge, and the Bang Bang Chicken sandwich had too much salt in sauce used on the bun. The kimchi fries were okay, wish everything was hot, the fried kimchi was cold when served which made the dish warm. The big issue I had was the undercooked egg being served with the dishes, the yolk needs to be oozing not running(indication of the yolk still being raw) so a few more minutes in the water would’ve saved it ;) If the dishes had more fresh greens and herbs the dishes would’ve been more balanced. The only dish I would say tasted good was the fried chicken which tasted above average, the battered was seasoned properly. Food Quality: Average for the price. Most of the ingredients seemed fresh but the fried kimchi seemed to be made beforehand then refrigerated and then served cold. The buns were most likely store bought(half stale when it was served) Restaurant Appearance: Warm ambient lighting, tables were half empty for the most part during dinner. Funky rock music playing in the background. Recommended Party Size: 6 or less Service: Waiter was there when you needed him. No complaints. Pricing: Average price for burger, fries and sandwiches. Overpriced for ramen. Automatic 20% tip included in all bills.(They should just get rid of tips and pay waiters real wages).

Great new spot in the neighborhood. Full bar and local taps. Surly, indeed and fair state brewing. The kimchi fries, pork belly steam buns, bang bang chicken sandwhich, poke, and fried cauliflower are all great. Kimchi fries are french fries with great sauce, kimchi and a poached egg. Big portion, plenty to share. The fried cauliflower might be my favorite. Crispy crust on cauliflower with some other nice toppings. You have to try the pork belly steam buns! The tantanmen ramen is awesome if you enjoy spicy foods. I was dissapointed by the domo ramen. The portion is huge, but the broth was pretty salty and tasted like it had a lot of soy in it. The twice fried wings were cooked to perfection but the seasoning was sweet and citrusy. I would much rather have a spicy option like korean BBQ or a srirach sauce. 20% service fee is added(shared with all staff) instead of tipping. They disclose that in advance. Overall, I really like this addtion to the neighborhood!
