Edina location. The soups are REALLY good, but the line layout and inventory management are so bad that I can’t go back. On Monday, 9÷15÷14, 1. They were out of spoons. A soup joint ran out of spoons. Note: They scrambled to get some plastic spoons. 2. People would have ordered sandwiches, but they were out of bread. Note: You could still order a wrap. 3. There’s a big ol’ soda cooler right in the middle of the line formation so, the people in line to get soup have sidestep and zipper with people who already got soup and are trying to pay. 4. If you get the bottomless bowl(good price and you get to try all the soups!), the rule is that you can budge ahead of everyone and go directly to the counter… assuming you can make it through the zipper merge caused by the soda cooler. Soup bowls and sodas fell off trays as people tried to navigate the layout. I was anxious just watching it from a table.

As of July 28th this Eddingtons is closed. Which stinks as liked their breakfast and soups. Sad day.

I love Eddington’s! Even when it is packed during the rush hour, the line moves quickly. I also really like that they hire disabled workers to bus dishes, etc. Several specials to choose from each day, and the soup is always filling! Breadsticks are on the salty side, but wipe some of it off and you’re fine.

Eddington’s used to be so good about 20 years ago — now their soup has absolutely no taste. The breadsticks are loaded with salt. I’d rather bring my lunch from home.

I’ve been here twice. Got a wrap once and a sandwich the other time. I would say that the quality of both are slightly below average and for the price I felt like it wasn’t worth it. Finally, everyone freaks out on how good the breadsticks are and that you get an unlimited amount of them. I have to say I wasn’t a big fan. Tasted like a salt bomb to me. Given all the other options available in downtown I would suggest passing on this place and don’t plan on going back myself.

Very good for lunch. not sure if they serve dinner or not. we often order food for the office from this location. I would highly recommend almost any of the soups. The sandwiches are excellent as well.

Brings back memories, since this was the very first restaurant I’ve ever eaten in Minnesota, I was introduced to the famous Minnesota wildrice soup here and ofcourse the breadsticks. Just loved it! If Unilocal was around, I would have rated 4 stars! So when I think Eddington’s, I think of Minnesota and MN wildrice soup. Unfortunately the taste has dropped so much from this incredible yummy chunky stew it once was when I visited recently at this location. So disappointed. I have since visited their other locations(Minnetonka/Coon Rapids/Roseville) and found the soup better at the other locations, but still not as good as it used to be… Sad.
Cafeteria-style setup with a lot of options. The soups are nice here, with a lot of varieties. I recently had the chicken chili, which was well seasoned for this kind of place, and the breadsticks are unlimited and decent. Unilocal has a check-in offer, so be sure to do that if so inclined. The sandwiches are OK here. They can whip up whatever you want pretty quickly. If Eddington’s was a tad cheaper I’d come here more often. Certainly nothing amazing, but OK food in good quantity.

Against my better judgment, I decided to return to Eddington’s for a second time due to convenience and a coupon. Lesson learned — don’t do it just because you have a coupon(which wasn’t even a good deal). There’s a reason why no one in my office, also located in U.S. Bank Plaza, eats at Eddington’s. Customers pay a hefty price for low quality, slapped together food that a gas station could assemble in a tastier fashion. I had half a deli ham sandwich and a cup of spicy vegetable soup. For more than $ 7.00, I left Eddington’s still hungry and with a sad/disgusted look on my face. Take heed and stop elsewhere(Panera, Allie’s, Potbelly’s, Jimmy John’s, Brothers’ Deli) for better soup, salad, and sandwiches.

Breadsticks = amazing. I will admit that while making the trek to Eddingtons I was skeptical of the breadsticks that my friend raved about. I mean how could their breadsticks truly be «the best in the world». Well they may not be the best in the world but they are certainly the best downtown. The space itself is cafeteria like and they have tons of seating. The one downside is that there was no visible place to take your tray and dishes after you were finished so as lunch went on the tables around us piled up with dirty trays. They have different stations for their food — soup, sandwiches, salad, salad bar. I opted for the salad bar and I was able to get a heaping plate for a little under $ 8. My friend went for the soup /sandwich combo. The food was standard, similar to D. Brians. However, as previously mentioned the breadsticks blew away the competition. I wish Eddingtons was closer to where I worked so I could go more often. I guess I’ll just have to try their suburban locations.

I had the cream of chicken and wild rice and the soup did not taste that great. It costs more then Panera’s bowl, but you get less soup and its more… ummm watery and salty. I wanted some substance and some taste. I think they do not make them, they probably just reheat them. 1 cup= $ 4.84 vs. Paneras bigger cup for $ 4.20 Bread sticks were salty too. Service was alright. The place seems to be popular, but I am not sure why(convenience?). Maybe I need to try other soups.

This review is for their soup and breadsticks only. Eddington’s has tasty soups but you can tell they are really unhealthy for you. Most are very salty and full of heavy cream. YUM but omg heart attack central. You pair this unhealthy meal with fresh, hot breadsticks. They compliment each other so nicely and are great on a cold damp day. One complaint I have is that the breadsticks are cooked really inconsistently. Some are crisp and delish but sometimes, especially during the peak hours, they are undercooked and ick. I also wish they’d add a bit of garlic to them. Without the soup, the breadsticks are flavorless except for salt. A bowl of soup and unlimited breadsticks is about $ 6. I guess that price is ok but it’s not inexpensive. I often find B1G1 coupons on the web though, which then make it a really great deal so do some google searching if you plan on visiting Eddington’s!

Good soup and breadsticks. I’d go more often if they would rotate in more types of soup, though… like sometimes it might be nice to have wild rice soup that isn’t cream-based. Gets really busy at peak lunch time, so if you want a table, go early or late.

I’d heard such wonderful things about their breadsticks it was a serious let down when I finally had one: pale, doughy, tasteless, except for the salt/“parmesan” coating on top. I thought the breadsticks were just off that day, but I’ve experienced them several times since and they’ve been consistently disappointing. Actually, I found almost everything here to be not as good as advertised. They boast a variety of different soups, but half of them taste like the other half. There’s a shade of fishiness separating the clam chowder from the wild rice, but really, it was hard to tell because I was overwhelmed with saltiness. The guacamole garden wrap is an appalling $ 5(okay, $ 4.89) for what is mostly iceberg lettuce. Get the salad bar instead so you can load up on better things than lettuce. I was going to have a cube of cornbread for dessert, but they were all hard as rocks so I went with a mini-loaf of zucchini bread instead, which was surprisingly good and was the highlight of my Eddington’s experience.

I figure if I’m going to eat out at lunch I will have to walk far to get it. However, it might not be that great of a workout once I’m done piling my salad containter to go. Decent salad bar with the typical fixings. They do throw in their signature salads for the day on to the salad bar. Today was almond noodle something or other which was alright. I would recommend avoiding the croutons. They taste likes cubes of pure salted varnish. Not that I’ve had varnish, but it’s one of those taste what you can smell moments. Ick! They do have some good looking soup and wraps, but I mainly stick to the salad bar to go.

My coworker is obsessed with this place and says it’s amazing. We all went in a group today and I think we were all pretty disappointed. The décor is pretty bland, the soups don’t look that appetizing, and I’m surprised that an all you can eat soup bar is 6.99 for lunch. I think you should at least get free salad included with a price that high. Coming from the south I’m used to amazing soup and salad places like Sweet Tomatoes and even Soup and Salad — This place seems like a bad imitation. I didn’t have the soup bar but I was told that the spaghetti soup was too watery and the tortilla soup is too thick. The bread sticks were good but you can get that at Olive Garden too so it’s nothing special. I had the egg salad sandwich which was the only vegetarian option on the menu — it was decent but not something I’d order again.

I come here because it is close to where I work, but I am not too thrilled with it. It is always very crowded at lunch, probably because it is the only non-fast-food option in the area. There is a wide range of soups, but most taste only slightly better than if they came from a can. Very salty. The salads are mostly only cheap ruffage– iceberg lettuce, carrot shavings, cabbage etc. Sandwichs are on cheap white bread and aren’t too filling. A tad overpriced for what they offer. The high point is the free unlimited breadsticks :)

Lots of soup choices, some of which change daily, and unlimited bread sticks makes this a good occasional lunch stop. All of the soups have flavor, not«cafeteria style» soups designed to be less flavorful but more widely approachable. It’s possible to find a soup you don’t like because they all have distinct flavors and aren’t different versions of the same bland starter soup. But it’s also possible to find a soup that you love and may occasionally crave. They have bottomless bowls, or single, or cups, as well as combos White Chicken Chili, Basil Pine Nut, Pot Pie, and Chicken Tortilla are a few of the possibilities and the website has each store’s weekly soup menu. They also have baked potatoes, salads and sandwiches, but I’ve never tried them.
