I hadn’t been to a dance class since I was 13 years old, wearing leg warmers, sporting a side ponytail, and dancing my heart out to Debbie Gibson jazz routines. My S.O. and I heard about the weekly GLBT Latin dance classes from a friend, so we decided to enroll in a term @ Four Seasons. The GLBT Latin Dance classes are on Tuesday nights, and cost $ 60 per couple, or $ 32 per person for 4 weeks, and are taught by Don DeBoer. Don is a great teacher, and made me feel comfortable with my two left feet. I really loved the«leader» or «follower» language he used, I don’t know if that is typical ballroom dance lingo, but it is much more P.C. for GLBT folks than«guy» and«girl.» Each 4-week session covered a different latin dance a week: Cha-cha, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata. We got a little taste of the basics of each, but not too indepth in any style. That’s fine with me, because I know what I might be interested in doing more of if I want to take another class. I will definitely do this class again in the future, and perhaps take another dance class at Four Seasons.

I got dance lessons at Four Seasons as a gift. And for the last three weeks, my boyfriend and I have been hitting their beginners swing classes, which have been a blast(we’re planning on taking more lessons, we’ve had so much fun!). They also offer ballroom, salsa and tango. The instructors are attentive, the mood is really light, and the interior of the building is beautiful. I think four lessons for a couple is $ 60, which really isn’t a bad deal at all when you divide it out per person. Its like the price of a movie. Plus, you leave fully equipped with sick dance skills to unleash at the next wedding you attend.
