PARKINGGARAGE: Visiting Minneapolis this weekend, this was a good place to park when staying at The Westin across the street. Much cheaper than The Westin valet! Heated garage was nice, easy to use the machines to pay and no issues here. I would park here again if I was staying nearby.

Another sad almost deserted space with a few stores and offices here and there. It’s too bad, because the space is really nice. Water fountains, whimsical food court area with the fair theme and some bathrooms that are Suprisingly clean. The only time I really go through Gavidae is to cut through to the other skyways. I’ll have to add this to the list of other places that used to be. Town Square, City Center, Block E. I think I read that they were going to give it a facelift. Really?

Both Gavidee Commons I &II are magnificent shopping complexes with a nice mix of retailers. Beautiful architecture inside & outside. Great ambience, it makes a person want to browse the stores and spend money. It happens to me everytime I’m in Minneapolis. More cities need to invest in shopping complexes like this for their downtowns.

I do like wandering around the Common. They got some unique but highly overpriced stores. A few restaurants and salons. I love the see through elevators and the waterfalls. Very nice. During lunch its all hustle and bustle. Good for a little walk on your lunch hour.

I don’t work downtown, so I’m not a skyway rat. I invariably get lost every time I wander around the 2nd floor commercial maze that defines Minneapolis. So it always feels good when I stumble back to the familiar Gaviidae Common. I don’t shop here often(but I do stop into Off 5th every now and again), but it’s a peaceful oasis in the middle of the hubbub. If I need to get some work done, a café in this building does the trick. There’s space, and there’s no rush – along with plenty of free wifi. And I kind of like how the gilded architecture makes me feel special.
