Happy Hour is great, food is great. It’s good sushi at a good price. Also the Japanese Beer is pretty good, stop by during happy hour and give it a try. Go here; you will not be disappointed.

Was there a couple weeks ago. Service was awesome, I don’t recall who the waitress was, but she was pleasant and attentive. If you are into Japanese food then you will like this place. Im not personally the biggest fan of it, therefore I had the Beef Fried Rice which was very, very well portioned for the price. Hell, it was like a deep bowl of rice with good sized chunks of beef. My buddy and his wife each had sushi samplers or what seemed to be about 6 different flavors of sushi which they enjoyed thoroughly. You pay a little more then normal but the portions are well worth it. Like I said, if you enjoy Japanese food, then absolutely go to Hajime.

The sushi here is amazing! Great drink specials during happy hour as well. It is very modern inside but kind of dark which could be a problem for some. Every time I’ve gone the service has been good, but slow. I’ll let it slide because I like the sushi so much.

Awesome sushi and cocktails outside of the twin cities. Such a wonderful surprise! I didn’t have high expectations but this place definitely blew me out of the water. I sit at sushi counter. When I go to a new sushi restaurant, it is always best to try to sushi counter first. So you can see if the sushi chef is 18 yo who has no idea what he is doing or an experienced chef. He was definitely experienced and the quality of the fish and the thick cuts were just what I was looking for. I asked for the a sushi sashimi plate. Whatever the chef wants to make… boom shakala! Every bite was melt in my mouth superb. Come here! The quality of their fish shows and they don’t skimp on the liquor. Definitely will be back!

Service here is always great, they’re always there whenever you need them for whatever you need. I haven’t really tried anything else besides the sushi, but sushi here is good! The fish always tastes fresh. Rolls are nicely rolled and not over-powered with rice. This place is open late and it’s got a late night bar-theme going on. It’s kind of a smaller restaurant, it’s got a bar and a sushi bar as well. Happy hour after 9 is the best time to come in, they have drink specials, sushi specials, and some other specials. They also have great lunch specials, i’d tell you all about it, but I really don’t remember from the last time i’ve had lunch here. Something I really like about Hajime that none of the other sushi places in Blaine has, is that they have Takoyaki. Yum.

Between 2 and 3 stars. Grilled whole squid is good here. HH has great deals Rolls are just OK. Not bad for blaine, since there aren’t so many choices around. Calamari: 2.5 stars. Tasted more like onion ring batter

I’m quite surprised! Or not really because this place came highly recommended. It’s just that my preconceived notions of good sushi had me sticking to Minneapolis. Who knew that moving a little north would not insist that I give up good sushi! Outstanding! We had the Crunchy Roll, Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon, Phoenix Roll, Y.T. Jalapeño Roll, and the Tuna Avocado Rolls. All were excellent! My favorites were the Crunchy Roll and the Phoenix. We will definitely return!

Suburban sushi at its best. Don’t let the north-of-694 address fool you – this place can definitely hold its own. The fish always seems fresh, and the sushi chefs know how to create excellent plates. I’d recommend the pepper tuna, crunchy roll, no. 9 roll, as well as the tempura shrimp and vegetables. The soup is also very good and very filling. Try the HH to start if you’re still skeptical because the prices are killer.

A definite 5!!! My wife and I love this place. This seems like a restaurant that you would have to find in Minneapolis/St Paul. I am glad this one his hidden in Blaine. We eat here regularly. I know most people go here for the Sushi, but we enjoy the many other things on their menu. Here are some of the amazing things we have had: Japanese Chicken Fried Rice, Pork Gyoza, Avocado Rolls, Chicken Teriyaki, and Pan Fried Noodles. Also, the atmosphere and décor is awesome.

Sushi has become my absolute go to meal in the past few years. One of the first things I was anxious to find when I moved into the area was a nearby sushi place. Luckily, the first place I tried was Hajime! In the past few months I have been to Hajime a handful of times and have never been disappointed. All the sushi I have had has been super fresh and full of flavor. I highly recommend the spicy tuna or spicy yellow tail. Overall the prices are decent, pretty much what you’d expect of a sushi place. I will definitely keep coming back as this has absolutely become my go to sushi place.

My sushi radar has failed me. This place has been within a 5 mile radius of our home and we never knew! We asked the hostess what month they opened. April… 2012. The inside is modern and clean. The shelving at the bar is sleek and back-lit. The dining area boasts contemporary high-back seating and dark-grain«wood» tables and flooring. We were pretty impressed(surprised) that this was a place at a strip mall in Blaine. My boyfriend’s favorite roll(or thing in life, in general) is the Crunchy Roll(tempura shrimp). But that’s just not my style. I can’t bring myself to participate in a cuisine that specializes in raw fish, only to order fried shrimp(or Cali Rolls w/imitation crab). It’s like going to the State Fair and ordering a salad. Or looking for potential husband/wife material at Williams Peanut Bar. But he ordered this and loved it. I ordered the Queen Roll and requested toasted nori instead of the soy paper. My roll was good. Nothing mind-blowing, and I wasn’t a fan of the spicy tuna on top… The spicy tuna roll was meh. Not really spicy. It was a little over-processed, like they put the«spicy» mayo and tuna in the blender/processor until it achieved the consistency of cat food. The seafood udon was good with decent ingredients and flavor. But the noodles were notably too soft. Our server was wonderful. He was accommodating and attentive but not overbearing. I’m sure we will be back due to its convenient location and great service, and I will be sure to indulge in rolls that are not of the cooked or paste-like-consistency variety.

The interior is nice for the location — not quite at the level of place in the city but above the local places in the area. The sushi is all decent — I think I am a bit jaded to American sushi after eating in Japan so this might be more like a 4 to others. 3 is good/par and they were pretty much in there. I had 4 of the main rolls(mango /mango spicy shrimp /crunchy roll /fire alarm? rolls). Mochi tri-color dessert was pretty good as well — something — flowery — about the flavor. Mango flavor was the best. All pictures below so feel to peruse my mastery of photog skills. Kanpai!

Unauthentic Americanized sushi joint. Came during happy hour and the prices are still somewhat high. Basically $ 2 off certain rolls and sushi order. We ordered like 5 different rolls and they were all loaded with tons and tons of sauces and mayonnaise. The quality of fish is decent, but definitely not high quality. The speed of service is also rather slow, and drinks were not actively filled. This would have been a 3 star review. However, I got my credit card statement in the mail a week later and found out that they charged me $ 5 extra than what I signed for on my receipt. Um, can you say«scam»! I have a huge problem with dishonest restaurants. Beware!

Just so-so for me Don’t like the techno music, but the price was right. Had to go up to Anoka County today for work, so I decided to check this place out on the way back. If the noon hour lunch crowd on a Monday is any indication of how well this place is doing, I would say they are in danger of going out of business(hopefully, just a slow day). Only one other customer in the place. Went with the sushi lunch for ten bucks. Five pieces of nigiri sushi and a California roll. Sushi is kind of like pizza for me. Not that the sushi here was bad, just not knock me off my socks great. Staff was friendly and attentive, and I would probably try it again for some different rolls if it were in my neck of the woods. One annoying thing was the quite loud techno music they had playing. Just awkward. Maybe they thought there was going to be a dance-off between me and the other customer. Probably out of Hajime’s control, but the speed bump in the parking lot is way too high. If you have a car that drives close to the ground like mine, try and avoid going over it at all costs.
