Hirshfield’s Decorating Centers

Went to the store on Hazelton Road looking to match stain for some replacement windows in two different rooms. One room has dramatically darker stain than the other. I actually brought pieces of window sash from both rooms to help with the matching process. The guy who waited on me was incredibly unhelpful. At one point he was trying to tell me I could buy one stain and it would match up fine to both colors. That should have been my clue to walk out, but I pressed him to try harder. He ended up picking two different stains, but trying them in the store was not an option. I asked if I could buy the smallest cans of each and that still cost $ 16. Of course, after getting them home and testing them, neither was even close to matching. So that money is gone. The good news is I took my stuff to the Ace Hardware near my house and they actually tested colors in the store until they got the matches perfect. I got them home and they still turned out perfect on the new windows. No more Hirschfields for me.

I’ve been in here a couple times to buy some paint for my house. I think this is a great place to buy paint. I notice that they have a good variety of a lot of other house things, but the paint is what I wanted. They have quite a few colors to choose from.
The staff was helpful and courteous with assisting me with my purchase. The guy there was great at giving me good suggestions with my purchase. Painting a house is not my best area of expertise, but after talking to the employee, I felt a little more confident. I’m glad the one helping me knew a lot about this.
The place looked clean and well-​organized. The employees appear to do a great job at keeping everything like so. I was able to find what I needed easily.
If I ever need anymore paint or other things for my house, I will come back here. I may need more with the upcoming summer.

They were able to match paint from an aluminum trim chip to paint for wood trim perfectly. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and they have a decent rewards system to sign up for for free.

I went to Hirshfield’s in Eden Prairie today to get a quart of matching paint that I had previously purchased at Hirshfield’s. I was informed that they don’t sell quart containers of any paint there and I would need to go to the Edina store. Really? Not apologetic whatsoever. Drove to Edina and stood in line for ten minutes to have someone wait on me. When I said I had already been at another store, he said «of course they don’t sell quarts» like the whole world knows this fact. customer service was Below normal. We’ve always purchased all of our paint at Hirshfield’s — they’re local and we like that. But it is this lack of customer service has me rethinking my future paint purchases.

You know, for a paint store it’s pretty nice. The staff is helpful and they have everything you would need to paint or wallpaper. I can’t imagine a more boring Unilocal review, but there you have it.
