I’m a fan of this trail for some of the following reasons; 1.It takes me from the homestead in SLP to downtown Minneapolis in 15 minutes straight so I don’t need to deal with the rush hour auto-people(more meanings than one) until I get to Dunwoody. Especially happy about this because I somehow missed this for quite a while and would go down Hennepin Avenue Uptown instead, I do miss Loring a bit now though. 2.It’s pretty much free of people about half the time and though I love me some people, the constant ‘on your lefts’ of wannabe Lance Armstrongs can leave one feeling quite inadequate sometimes. Folks are also more likely to say hello like old friends when you finally do see them because they’ve seen so few others, kinda like when the weather’s foul and the few folks you see are this — 0.21 — close to getting you to high five ‘em. 3.Houses aren’t bad to look at when not in a hurry, definitely no Summit but the view’ll do for a bit. 4.I can be of lazy seed and it never slopes upward, I’m trying to get to work not work out at 8 a.m. 5.I am not a girl easily scared but I have taken that trail way too many after 12 nights and now have a full mini-series on the gruesome murder of Muna on Kenilworth written in my head. Like I said, it’s pretty lonely even during the day and I really don’t think I’m not exaggerating when I say I go past an average of 1 person every 10 nights. Those trees have turned into Ents and carried me away many a time in my head. I generally focus on the ride but on days I want to spook myself, I just can’t be stopped. When I say some of the following reasons you can guess I mean 1 – 4 though it’s not the trail’s fault that my lights suck. And 5 can be a reason sometimes, being spooked can be fun… when you get home safe and sound.
