Once again a very, very good and well priced meal. We started with the the unique twist on queso fundito with confit onions, poblanos, mushrooms, black beans and corn. This version was savory and amazing and we almost ordered more. My wife had Pistachio and Guajillo crusted Grouper over coconut risotto. It was perfectly spiced and balanced. She called it orgasmic. I had the Pork over mole rice with chorizo ragu. It looked a little messy but was again perfectly balanced. Loved it. This place is great and everyone should give it a try.

Small, eclectic, and tasty sums up La Fresca. Sunday brunch was a fun treat. Huevos Benedicto’s, the corn pancakes, Huevos Rancheros, and Chilaquiles were all top notch. The coffee was better than average for a restaurant. The best part was the owner’s 4 year old daughter helping dad by bringing the coffee cream and the salt/pepper. Truly adorable.

Had dinner here tonight with my wife, son, and daughter in law. This is my fourth visit to La Fresca and each time the food has been extraordinary. In my opinion this is one of the best restaurants in the Twin Cities in the same league as Piccolo and Spoon and Stable and much better than popular places like Revival. The combination of flavors in each dish is subtle and sophisticated and presentation is outstanding. We started with three appetizers to share: guacamole, ceviche de huachinango(snapper), and special mahi mahi fish tacos. For our mains we had carne asada(beef tenderloin), huachinango, mariscada(a seafood stew), and a special scallop dish. Finally for desert we had espresso crème brûlée, key lime pie, and tres leches cake. We shared on everything and it was all outstanding. La Fresca does a particularly good job with seafood. We had a carafe of their excellent sangria. Service by Diana was great. La Fresca is located in a small commercial area in a quiet residential area and parking is safe and easy. This is a great restaurant.

Fabulous place! The food is creative and beautifully plated. They pay excellent attention to textures, colors, and ingredient pairings. Definitely priced for foodies, but there are options of small less expensive plates too. Not much for kids. Wonderful service and an overall lovely experience.

Amazing! Everything we tried was so delightful — SOPESDEHONGOS, PUERTOMORELOS, MARISCOSCONCALAVACITAS — yum, yum, yum. Service was impeccable — can’t wait to go back and try other things!

I ate there last night for the second time. They have excellent and creative food, very fairly priced, quaint atmosphere, good service. Love it! The snapper with chorizo was great. I wish they had a full bar so that you can enjoy a real margarita, but the wine selection and the sangria were good. Our waitress was very friendly.

Had dinner with my wife early on a Friday night. The guacamole and chips appetizer was excellent. Possibly as good as any we have eaten. Our main courses were okay but not outstanding. My wife’s halibut was a bit rich for her liking. My snapper was okay but a bit overdone and dry. They did change sauces to remove dairy for me which may have complicated things. The staff and service was attentive and quick.

Happy, happy, happy! Our group of five would share only positive and encouraging words from our dinner tonight! Fresh, innovative and pushed the limits on flavor. All five of us were members of the ‘clean plate club’! I had the Grouper and Coconut Risoto– left wanting more but my next visit could very easily include the lemon marinated Free Range Chicken. The restaurant is small, but we arrived early enough to hold a conversation and finding parking spot was almost too easy. I’m absolutely returning for another round of pure goodness!

Everything was incredible! We had two fish dishes which were cooked perfectly. The flavor combinations were very unique and worked really well. Our service was over the top as well. Overall it was a lovely experience! Ask for Roqui!

Wonderful space, fantastic service and amazing food. Started with the guac — delicious! My mom had the Red Snapper and I had the Scallops — both dishes were amazing and I can’t wait to go back again!

Fantastic. Every single thing knocked our socks off. We started with the aguachile salad, which was really too small to share, but still delicious. The mister got the Cardel(chilean sea bass and lots of veggies) and I got the special(scallops over polenta and spinach). Both were SO good. Perfectly seasoned and clean tasting. For dessert I went with the tres leches and he did the chocolate torta. The tres leches was just a little dry in my opinion, but that didn’t stop me from practically licking the plate clean. The service was also wonderful. Every single employee we encountered(the hostess, the water guy, our server, and another server who came to take our dessert order) was friendly and attentive. We thought the prices were totally reasonable. The most expensive dish was only $ 22, and that’s for locally sourced, sustainably harvested, and ethically raised ingredients(per their menu). I’m already thinking about how soon we can go back(brunch tomorrow?). It was that good.

After waiting for over an hour to get into Revival, our friends suggested we head over to La Fresca. What a great choice! Incredible service, lovely, well prepared food. The name says it all — fresh! We will be back!

All in all a good meal but in no way good enough to justify the price. Pork tenderloin was well-executed if a bit overdone. Steak of friend was appropriately cooked but underseasoned – and that is coming from a steak purist who is fine with a light salt and pepper seasoning… maybe they forgot? Damn near 75 bucks for two entrees, chips and guac, and 4 beers for 2 buddies grabbing a bite.

Came here for a birthday dinner… and oh my. It was delish. Their guac is some of the best I have ever had. My dad who hates guac was elbows deep in this fighting me for the last bite. Soooooo good. The sopes were phenomenal. The empanada was just ok. I’m not a fan of the fried ones. i’m used to the baked Argentine style and I haven’t crossed into the dark side of the deep fried yet. I had the HUACHINANGO… which was good but my dad’s lechon was better. La Fresca is small. Don’t come here with a ton of people. But it is really, really good. Mexican food is so much more than burritos and fajitas. I’m glad Minneapolis finally has a place that can show the masses how flavorful, complex and incredible Mexican cuisine can be.

Went for brunch, very impressed! Super-friendly staff… welcoming, informative, but didn’t push anything. Nice balance of service. Great décor. Excellent food, quality ingredients, beautiful presentation, tasty! I had the huevos motulenos. Others in my party had the flautas de hongos, the corn pancake, and huevos tibios. All reportedly good(these were all foodies). Looking forward to trying other meals.

Simply fabulous. Unpretentious, beautiful presentation, reasonably priced, superb flavors. Party of 4, three seafood dishes including an amazing grouper entrée, plus a pork dish that wowed. Home-made Mexican craft beers and enough nice wines are very affordable prices… rioja, malbec, tempranillo… great options, too. And the FRESH guacamole appetizer was deeeeelish. Our only issue was La Fresca is a tiny place with maybe 50 seats, so we had to wait a while beyond our reservation time for some early diners to finally leave. The place is comfortable and comforting that you could just hang out and relax indefinitely. Hector Ruiz has done it again. El Meson which he sadly closed a couple of years ago when the building owner wouldn’t maintain it properly, has been replaced by three great dining spots on Grand Avenue… Café Ena, Rincon 38 and now, La Fresca. All are wonderful and we can’t wait to go back to one, two, nah, all three again and again.

The hours on the Unilocal site are wrong! They are open after 9am both Sat & Sun; after 11 am on Friday. Come! Had the goat cheese omelet served with asparagus & greens. Nice portions & very tasty. Pleasant surroundings & service. Will definitely return to try other menu options!
